Rejecting or accepting salvation
2026/09/27
William Taylor - When our friends, family and colleagues refuse to believe in Jesus, we find it sad and sometimes unsettling. Jesus explains both the seriousness of unbelief and its causes. Interestingly, according to Jesus, unbelief is not a matter of insufficient evidence.

The Son is LORD
2026/09/27
Phil Hudson - Jesus has a wonderful agenda, and he wants us to know him and his work as they truly are. As he feeds 5,000 men, and likely many more besides, with bread from heaven, Jesus shows us that he has come to fulfil the Passover as the Lord who redeems his people and leads them home. Yet when he refuses to let the crowd make him king by force, he also shows us who he is not and what his mission is not, so that we might believe in and follow the real Jesus.
The Son is LORD

Drew Balch - Jesus’ most public miracle feeds a miracle-hungry crowd determined to crown him king on their own terms, yet a handful of storm-battered disciples simply let him in.
Real salvation
2026/09/20
William Taylor - The evidence for Jesus being who he says he is instils immense confidence in his disciples. Jesus is no ‘flash in the pan’ saviour. He has the backing of centuries of expectation, of his own works, and of God’s word.

The Son and the witnesses
2026/09/20
Phil Hudson - Why don’t people believe in Jesus? As Jesus defends his claim to be God the Son, doing the work of God the Father, he calls witnesses and shows us that there is abundant evidence. But in this courtroom, Jesus and the witnesses soon become the prosecution, exposing unbelief. Why don’t people believe in Jesus? It is not because of a lack of evidence. It is because of what we desire and our love for the praise of others.
The Son and the witnesses
2026/09/20
Drew Balch - Jesus calls three watertight witnesses to prove exactly who he is, yet unbelievers still walk away unmoved. Jesus reveals the real reason people refuse him, and whether the evidence was ever really the problem.
Salvation from death
2026/09/13
William Taylor - Jesus repeatedly demonstrates his power and authority over death. In Luke 7, this authority is combined with compassion. These two aspects of his character – authority and compassion – both challenge our view of Jesus and give us great grounds for comfort.

The Son and his works
2026/09/13
Phil Hudson - God… without Jesus? There are so many versions of spirituality which claim to know God but do not honour Jesus, the Son of God. Jesus shows us through his works that he is none other than God the Son, doing the work of God the Father. We cannot know God without Jesus. Jesus does the work of God by speaking, which makes his voice the single focal point for knowing God and experiencing his work in our lives. We must, therefore, listen.
The Son and his works
2026/09/13
Drew Balch - Jesus is on trial for blasphemy, and instead of backing down, he makes the biggest claim about himself in the whole Gospel. The Father's work is now entirely in the Son's hands.
Salvation from disease
2026/09/06
William Taylor - At the turn of the century, it might have been difficult to persuade a person that this broken world needed saving. Times have changed. Jesus demonstrates that he has the authority, the power and the desire to save. The Roman centurion shows us just how far this saving work of Jesus reaches.

The Son and his Sabbath
2026/09/06
Phil Hudson - What is God doing in the world today? When we consider disasters, disease, decay and even death, we may ask this question. As Jesus heals a man who has been paralysed for 38 years on the Sabbath, he shows us that God is at work redeeming and re-making a broken world marred by the effects of sin. And the focal point of this work today is Jesus, who does the Father’s work – giving us the rest we were made for and the wonderful future hope of life.
