Do you know how sometimes life gives you lemons? They say to take those lemons and make lemonade with them, but have you ever made lemonade? Squeezing those lemons takes time! Plus, you have to add so much sugar that stirring it until it dissolves takes forever! My point is that making lemonade takes a lot of time and effort. (I am also now craving a glass of lemonade. What have I done?)  Anyway, life has gotten a bit too real for us here at Stolendroids Podcast, so we need to take a minute to catch our breath. But don't worry because we're not going anywhere! We're currently preparing for Salt Lake FanX on September 16th through the 18th at the Salt Palace Convention Center. After numerous delays, Marvel's Black Widow finally arrived in theaters. And Disney+. Yep. In addition to a theatrical release where the latest chapter in the MCU scored $158 million in its first three days at the global box office, Disney also released the anticipated film through Disney+ Premier Access. But the move appears to have been a wise one since it earned more than $60 million through the popular streaming service during its opening weekend. Based on its earnings, it looks like Black Widow is a hit, but is it any good? We break it down on this week's episode of Stolendroids Podcast. Who watches the watchmen? This is a popular translation of "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?" from the writings of Juvenal and can be literally translated as "Who will guard the guards themselves?" It's a theme that has become a popular trope throughout pop culture, including movies, television, and comic books. It also happens to permeate our review of Pixar's Luca.  While we do manage to talk about Luca, there is just so much more to talk about than just one movie. Seriously, we had the new trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings drop right before we recorded, so you know we had to discuss that. Utah Remote-Con 2 has come and gone meaning it's time to get back to our somewhat regular schedule. And what better time to get back into the swing of things than right after E3 2021?  With the video game industry's biggest event of the year firmly in the rearview mirror, the Stolendroids panelists recap some of this year's highlights as only they can. Disney has been making classic animated films for decades. You could even say that it's what they're known for. I mean, they did make Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the first full-length animated feature film, way back in 1937, and they've been cranking out the classics ever since. Sure, they've stumbled along the way, but they always seem to recover.  With that in mind, why would you think that a global pandemic would prevent Disney from releasing another animated classic? No, it's not a classic yet, but Raya and the Last Dragon is good enough to be one. From the story to the animation, it is a classic in the making. Remember the days when you would wake up at 6:00 on a Saturday morning, grab a giant bowl of cereal, and plop onto the couch where you would watch cartoons for the next four hours? As a kid, those were the best days. Saturday mornings were yours, and nobody was going to take them away from you. Until they did… On this week's episode of Stolendroids Podcast, we reminisce about the days when it was okay for a kid to watch hours and hours of television. We remember the memory and mourn the loss of the Saturday morning cartoon and all that went with it. The sugar cereal. The amazing commercials. Can you believe that it's been 30 years since Disney released their masterpiece, Beauty and the Beast? Well, it has. And despite its age, the film still holds up quite nicely. In fact, some would even say that out of the entire Disney animated library, it is one of their best. And don't we deserve the best?  We're a few hosts down this week, but Craig Price joins us to help celebrate three decades of that tale as old as time, Beauty and the Beast. With an original release date of May 1, 2020, Black Widow became one of the first summer blockbusters to change its release schedule due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. With the closure of movie theaters worldwide, the highly anticipated film was moved to a November release date, pushing back Marvel's Eternals until 2021.   But with the world still in an upheaval that September, there were rumors that Disney was considering rescheduling Black Widow again. These rumors proved true when Disney announced that the film's new release date would be May 7, 2021. Unfortunately, this new relate date not only delayed Marvel's Eternals again, but it also pushed back the release of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.  Despite its previous delays, Disney said that Black Widow would still debut in theaters. However, at the time, there were reports that the film would instead be released on Disney+. Ultimately, both were proven true in late March when Disney announced that the film would be released in theaters and on Disney+ (with Premiere Access) on July 9, 2021.  So now the question is: will Black Widow actually be shown in theaters? The odds are looking better than they did last year, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. But if it only premieres on Disney+, will you still be excited to see it? Come to think of it, are you even as interested in watching it after more than a year of delays? And are you still as excited about the MCU's future as you were pre-pandemic? Someone once said that WandaVision is one of those shows where you either love it, you hate it, or you fall someplace in between. So it's like most television shows. But the difference with WandaVision is that most people seem to be on either end of the spectrum, with not a lot going on in the middle. It's a show that doesn't generate much apathy from viewers. While it succeeds in invoking viewers' emotions weekly, fans remain on the edge of their seats waiting to see what will happen next, while haters take to the Internet to rage about what they just witnessed. So now that the final episode has aired, what does the Stolendroids crew think about the show? Welcome to March! The month of college basketball tournament brackets and office betting pools. The month when nobody judges you for taking time off work to stay home and watch sports for days.  But why should sports fans be the only ones to have fun with brackets? The answer is that they shouldn't, so we came up with one of our own. Well, we didn't come up with it. We actually found one on the Internet, but you get my point...  Anyway, to kick off Marvelous March, we ask the question, "who should have the Infinity Gauntlet?" We know who shouldn't have it. **cough** Thanos **cough** But if somebody should take possession of the thing that removed half of humanity from existence, who would you want that person to be?  Listen as things get messy while our panel tries to determine who is worthy to wield all of the Infinity Stones.
