The second 11th Edition codex has landed, and it's full of poster boys in power armor! In this episode, we review the brand new Space Marines codex. Everything about this codex is big - big page count, big unit roster, and big changes to how the army plays. We dig into the returning Combat Doctrines system, look at the new detachments and how they can be used to build a variety of marine armies, and examine the changes to all the units in the book. Change is often uncomfortable, and editions changes are even more so. 11th Edition has brought a lot of changes, both small and large, to Warhammer 40K, and most of them have been pretty well-received. That said, there are a few things that have brought a bit of extra friction to the game, had unexpected impacts, or just aren't quite working as anticipated. 15 years ago today, we released our first episode on the internet. That's been 350 episodes ago, and we've come a long way since then, but every journey starts with a single step. That inaugural episode was all about getting started! Rob, Dennis, Richard, and original host Jon tackled the subject of how to get started in Warhammer 40K. We discussed how we got started in the game, and various aspects of getting into the game for the first time - picking an army, getting the minis, and learning to play. Things were vaguely complicated by recording during a thunderstorm, but we managed to hit all the bases without getting electrocuted.
