Ilona and Larissa both grew up in Gliwice. Most of them were born in the territory of the Second Polish Republic and survived the Second World War in the USSR, and reached Silesia as part of the waves of repatriation. Not everyone had long-term plans with Poland, Gliwice was for them only a place of stay when traveling to Israel, America or Australia.
