Description

The Faith of the Father (s) is a podcast devoted to proclaiming and demonstrating the reality of Jesus Christ—risen from the dead and actively at work today, healing the sick and casting out demons just as He did in the Scriptures. Rooted in the careful study of the Bible and the witness of the Church throughout history, this podcast seeks to learn from the faith of the fathers—from the earliest believers to faithful witnesses in the present day. We hold that the ministry of Jesus did not end in the Gospels, but continues through men and women indwelt by the Holy Spirit and obedient to His voice. Hosted by Karl Gessler, The Faith of the Fathers features candid conversations with those who have walked out of deep trauma, abuse, and bondage and have found real healing in Jesus. It also includes interviews with believers who have witnessed and participated in profound works of God—miracles of healing, deliverance, salvation, and even the raising of the dead—through courageous and faithful obedience to Christ. At its core, this podcast affirms a simple conviction: God intends to govern the world through human beings filled with His Spirit, living in truth, authority, and love. By returning to Scripture and the lived faith of the Church, The Faith of the Fathers invites listeners to know Jesus not as a distant figure of the past, but as the living Lord who continues His work today.

Some Voices Need Healing, Not Deliverance (When trauma and fragmentation sound like demonic oppression)
2026/09/29
Send us Fan Mail If you’ve been through deliverance ministry again and again but still can’t get free, this episode may reveal the missing piece. Karl Gessler shares the story of a young man tormented by condemning voices, fear of hell, and the belief that he had committed the unforgivable sin. But when Karl listened more closely, he began to suspect that the voice speaking was not a demon—it was a wounded and fragmented part of the young man’s soul. In this episode, Karl explores the difference between demonic oppression and fragmentation connected to childhood trauma. He explains why deliverance efforts can stall when ministers try to cast out something Jesus wants to heal. Trauma and demonic oppression can overlap, but healing and deliverance are not the same thing. Some voices need to be confronted, while others need to be heard, healed, and brought to Jesus. No sin is beyond His forgiveness, and no broken part of you is beyond His healing.  00:00 — A deliverance case that did not resolve  01:26 — Why one “demon” sounded different  02:25 — Calling out the person, not the demon  03:25 — Speaking from experience rather than credentials  03:54 — Childhood trauma and soul fragmentation  05:21 — Fragmentation, memory gaps, and survival  06:18 — Why inner voices can feel demonic  07:14 — Self-hatred and internal division  08:39 — When deliverance tactics do not work  10:05 — Why painful memories remain hidden  11:04 — Healing before casting out a demon  12:03 — Condemnation and the fear of unforgivable sin  13:20 — Jesus will not leave any broken piece behind  14:15 — An invitation to receive prayer  Support the show ❤️ SHOW YOUR SUPPORT - LINKS BELOW... ➡️ Email me: https://www.karlgessler.com/deliverance ➡️ DONATE ➡️  Join our team! https://www.givesendgo.com/karlgessle...   / karlgessler  ...

Why Your Best Effort Feels Like Failure
2026/09/15
Send us Fan Mail Have you ever worked desperately to become a better person, only to end up feeling worse about yourself? When our identity becomes tied to our performance, even our best efforts can leave us feeling ashamed, defeated, and never good enough. The harder we try to prove our worth, the more deeply failure can wound us. In this episode, Karl shares honestly about his own struggle with self-hatred and explores the spiritual roots of performance-driven shame. You’ll discover why improvement alone cannot heal rejection, how condemnation distorts the way you see yourself, and why receiving the love of God must come before lasting transformation. Your failures are real—but they are not your identity. Jesus did not come merely to make you perform better. He came to restore you to the Father and teach you to live as someone who is already loved. If your best never seems good enough, this episode is for you. Islam Is Changing America—Is the Church Ready?
2026/09/08
Send us Fan Mail Are Christians recognizing the spiritual battle unfolding in America—or have we mistaken passivity for love? In this episode of The Faith of the Father(s), Karl Gessler examines the growing influence of Islam in America, the cultural changes taking place in cities such as Dearborn and Chicago, and the urgent need for the Church to respond with courage, discernment, and the authority of Jesus. Using the “camel in the tent” parable, Karl explains how influence can advance gradually while those affected remain unaware of what is happening. This episode explores: • Why being loving does not require Christians to be passive • The difference between loving Muslims and opposing the teachings of Islam • How spiritual principalities influence cultures and cities • Why public worship, Jesus Marches, and Gospel proclamation matter • Practical ways Christians can push back darkness and advance God’s Kingdom This is not a call to fear or hostility toward Muslims. Christians are called to love Muslims, share the Gospel with them, and demonstrate the love and power of Jesus. But loving people does not mean remaining silent about spiritual ideas that oppose Christ. The Gospel was never merely about escaping this world—it is the announcement that Jesus is Lord and that His Kingdom has come. It is time for the righteous to be as bold as lions. NEXT EPISODE on the Faith of the Father(s) SHOW: We’ll examine “non-resistance” and why Karl believes it has become a serious mistake within parts of the Church. 13 Years of Addiction Ended with One Desperate Prayer
2026/09/01
Send us Fan Mail Thirteen years of addiction ended with one honest, desperate prayer of repentance—and an entire family came to salvation. In this powerful episode of The Faith of the Fathers, Karl Gessler talks with Otis Heard about the prayer that changed everything. After more than a decade of struggling with addiction, Otis discovered that freedom was possible through repentance and the power of Jesus. But his deliverance didn’t stop with him. What God began in one person reached an entire family. This conversation highlights: • The power of honest repentance. • How Jesus brings freedom from addiction. • Why no one is beyond the reach of God’s mercy. • How one person’s encounter with God can change an entire family. • The hope available to anyone who feels trapped, ashamed, or unable to change. If you have struggled with addiction, prayed for someone you love, or wondered whether genuine freedom is possible, Otis’ story will encourage you. Your life can change now, just as Otis’ did. The “Perfect Prayer” You Aren’t Using: Breaking Mental Blocks to Speaking in Tongues
2026/08/11
Send us Fan Mail Have you struggled to receive the gift of tongues—or wondered why it seems beyond your reach? The barrier may not be spiritual. It may be mental. In this episode of The Faith of the Fathers, Karl Gessler exposes the “Western rationalist block” that can prevent believers from yielding to the Holy Spirit. Speaking in tongues is more than a missionary tool or an optional spiritual experience. It is a powerful gift for intercession—allowing the Holy Spirit to pray through you beyond the limits of your natural understanding. In this episode, you will discover: • Why your mind is “unfruitful” when you pray in the Spirit—and why that is not a problem • How fear, self-consciousness, and intellectual control can hinder spiritual flow • Why human cooperation is essential for God’s will to be accomplished on Earth • How praying in tongues can become a powerful weapon in intercession and deliverance • A remarkable testimony involving an ancestral part being resolved through tongues • Practical steps to receive and release the gift of tongues Karl concludes with a guided prayer and activation designed to help you move beyond fear, yield to the Holy Spirit, and release the river of Living Water Jesus has placed within you. Don’t allow religious traditions, mental resistance, or the fear of looking foolish to keep you from the empowerment God intended for His Church. It is time to move beyond the limitations of the natural mind and pray with the Spirit. God’s Will Isn’t Automatic—Here’s Why
2026/08/04
Send us Fan Mail Does God’s will always happen—or can fear, hesitation, and disobedience cause us to miss what He intended? After returning from a transformative 6,650-mile ministry trip across the country, Karl and Susie Gessler sit down to discuss the divine appointments they experienced, the opportunities they almost missed, and the lessons they learned about partnering with God. Many Christians assume that everything that happens must be God’s sovereign will. But Scripture reveals that God has given human beings genuine authority and responsibility. Our prayers, choices, courage, and obedience truly matter. In this episode, Karl and Susie explore:  Whether God’s will happens automatically  How fear can prevent us from stepping through an open door  The difference between God’s timing and a missed opportunity  Why divine sovereignty does not eliminate human responsibility  How prayer and obedience help bring God’s purposes into the world  What to do when you believe you may have missed God  How to recognize and respond to divine appointments This is more than a theological discussion. It is a call to reject passivity and recognize the important role God has given you in advancing His Kingdom. You are not merely a spectator in God’s plan. You have been invited to participate. Why the Attacks Keep Coming | Why Satan Wants You in Bondage
2026/07/25
Send us Fan Mail Why does it seem like the attacks never stop? If you’ve ever wondered why Satan appears to focus so much attention on your life, you’re not alone. Spiritual attacks can leave us feeling discouraged, forgotten, and convinced that God has abandoned us. But that is exactly what the enemy wants you to believe. In this episode, Karl Gessler explores the biblical purpose behind spiritual warfare and explains why Satan fights so hard to keep God’s people in bondage. More importantly, you’ll discover the greater truth: God has known you, loved you, and been working for your freedom from the very beginning—and He will remain faithful to the very end. Whether you’re facing fear, temptation, discouragement, or spiritual oppression, this message will encourage you to stand firm in Christ and embrace the freedom He purchased for you. A Deliverance Minister’s Confession: Deliverance Isn’t the Answer
2026/07/13
Send us Fan Mail You didn’t fail at deliverance. Many people go through deliverance only to find themselves struggling with old habits, addictions, or bondage again. Then shame sets in: I failed. Deliverance didn’t work. Maybe I’ll never be free. That’s wrong thinking. Deliverance is something you receive, not something you do. And deliverance itself isn’t the Gospel—it is a byproduct of the Gospel. The bedrock truth beneath all freedom is this: God loves you right now. This message is for anyone who has tried to get free and feels discouraged. Keep coming to the well of the Holy Spirit. Keep receiving. Keep pursuing freedom. You didn’t fail. Don’t quit. What Is Sin? It’s More Than Breaking Rules
2026/07/06
Send us Fan Mail What if sin isn’t simply breaking God’s rules? The Sleeper Cells the Church Can't Ignore | Kelly Hawley
2026/06/30
Send us Fan Mail What happens when survivors share experiences that challenge our assumptions about trauma, spiritual warfare, and the unseen realm? In this episode, Karl Gessler sits down with Kelly Hawley of Warrior Bride Ministries to discuss her journey from childhood sexual abuse to healing, freedom, and a calling to help survivors of severe trauma. Kelly shares how Warrior Bride Ministries ministers to those recovering from ritual abuse, fragmentation, and complex trauma through biblical inner healing, deliverance, prayer ministry, intensives, free classes, and the annual Counting the Cost Conference. Karl and Kelly also discuss some of the unusual reports they've encountered while ministering to survivors, including claims of alien abductions, sleeper programming, soul transference, and other experiences that often cause churches to dismiss those seeking help. Rather than ignoring these testimonies, they discuss why the Church must become willing to listen, seek biblical discernment, and walk compassionately with survivors toward healing in Christ. Whether you're involved in deliverance ministry, minister to trauma survivors, or simply want to better understand this often-overlooked area of ministry, this conversation offers thoughtful insight and practical encouragement. What Fasting Does to Your Spirit with Joe Roraff
2026/06/16
Send us Fan Mail What happens to your spirit when you fast? In this episode of The Faith of the Fathers, Karl Gessler sits down with Joe Roraff to discuss one of the most powerful and often neglected spiritual disciplines in the Christian life: fasting. Joe shares the remarkable story of how his father's 21-day fast became a catalyst for his own spiritual transformation and pursuit of God. Together, Karl and Joe explore the purpose of fasting, common misconceptions surrounding it, and why so many believers struggle to make it a regular part of their walk with Christ. The conversation covers practical challenges, hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit, spiritual sensitivity, breakthrough, and the cumulative impact of simple acts of obedience over time. Rather than viewing fasting as a religious obligation, Karl and Joe present it as an invitation to draw closer to God and create space for Him to work more deeply in our lives. Whether you are considering your first fast or have practiced fasting for years, this conversation will encourage you to seek God with greater hunger and expectation. In This Episode  What fasting actually does to your spirit  Joe's testimony of his father's 21-day fast  Common fears and misconceptions about fasting  Learning to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit  The connection between fasting and spiritual breakthrough  Why spiritual disciplines have a cumulative effect  Practical encouragement for believers who want to begin fasting Thank you for listening to The Faith of the Fathers.
