Communion | Pastor Chris Reed
2026/10/04
Why does the church take communion together, and what does it really mean? In this message, Pastor Chris Reed teaches that communion is a meal that makes salvation real. It is not a magic trick or only a symbol. It is a simple act where God's Spirit is with us, making His salvation something we can taste and touch.
You will hear Pastor Chris trace communion back to the Passover, from the spotless lamb and the bread of affliction to the four cups drawn from God's promises in Exodus 6. He then walks through Luke 22, where Jesus places Himself at the center of the meal as our Passover lamb and offers a new covenant in His blood. The message closes with a time of reflection as the church prepares to take communion together.

POWER AND BOLDNESS | Pastor Matthew Johnson
2026/09/27
Following Jesus is difficult, and it can be scary. In Power and Boldness, the final message in our series on the Holy Spirit, Pastor Matthew Johnson teaches from the book of Acts. He explains that the calling of Jesus is impossible without the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit.
You'll hear the story of Peter, a man who denied Jesus three times and then preached with courage at Pentecost. Pastor Matthew shares five truths from Peter's life. Peter resolved to obey, began to obey, was empowered by the Spirit, was ready for God-ordained moments, and was amazed by what the Spirit did.
This message will encourage you to say yes to God before you know every detail, and to trust that the Holy Spirit fills the gap between your ability and His calling.

PERFECT PRAYERS | PASTOR MATTHEW JOHNSON
2026/09/20
What happens when you don't even know what to pray for? In this message titled Perfect Prayers, Pastor Matthew Johnson continues The Tree Church's series on the Holy Spirit, teaching from Romans 8:18-39 on how the Spirit helps believers in their weakest, most confusing seasons.
Pastor Matthew begins with Psalm 23's declaration, "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want," reframing it as a statement of trust rather than a promise that every desire will be met. He then walks through Paul's teaching that present suffering, though real and never minimized, is outweighed by the future glory believers are promised. Using the image of creation groaning and believers groaning as they wait for full redemption, Pastor Matthew shares personal stories, including his wife's experience in childbirth and his own accident falling off a ladder, to describe what it looks like to hurt too deeply for words.
He then unpacks Romans 8:26-27, teaching that in these moments, the Holy Spirit intercedes for believers with groanings too deep for words, praying prayers that are always perfectly aligned with God's will and always answered. Pastor Matthew closes with Romans 8:28-39, reminding listeners that all things work together for good and that nothing, no circumstance, no failure, and no fear, can separate a believer from the love of God.
This message continues The Tree Church's Holy Spirit series. Watch to learn how to trust the Spirit's help when you don't have the words to pray.
COMFORT AND PEACE | Pastor Matthew Johnson
2026/09/13
Pastor Matthew Johnson opens up honestly about his own anxiety before teaching what Jesus promised His disciples in John 14. Drawing from 1 Peter 5 and Philippians 4, he shows how anxiety often signals an attempt to control what was never meant to be carried alone, and what it practically looks like to release that anxiety to God. He closes with the story of Jesus calming the storm, showing that real peace comes from His presence, not from the absence of hard circumstances. If you have ever felt anxious about things you cannot control, this message will meet you right where you are.

DIRECTION | Pastor Matthew Johnson

If you have ever wondered how to know whether you are truly hearing from God, this message will give you a clear and practical place to start.

Drawing from Galatians 5, he unpacks the difference between the works of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit, showing how everyday habits quietly feed one or the other. He explains four practical ways the Holy Spirit produces lasting fruit in a believer's life, from setting the standard to empowering real change. THE HOLY SPIRIT CONVICTS | Pastor Matthew Johnson
2026/08/09
Pastor Matthew Johnson teaches that the Holy Spirit's conviction is good news, not guilt. Drawing from John 16, Romans 8, and 2 Corinthians 5, he unpacks the difference between conviction and condemnation, and how the Spirit points believers toward trust, righteousness, and hope rather than shame. Using the four ways the Spirit convicts today, through Scripture, prayer, relationships, and circumstances, he shows what it looks like to actually respond when God speaks. If you have ever felt like conviction means you have failed, this message will show you it means He hasn't given up on you.

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS EXPERIENTIAL | Pastor Matthew Johnson
2026/08/02
Pastor Matthew Johnson teaches that the Holy Spirit is not just to be known, but experienced. Drawing from John 1 and multiple accounts in Acts, he unpacks what it looks like to move from head knowledge of God to a real, felt encounter with His presence. Using the illustration of an unopened gift, he shows how many Christians have access to the Holy Spirit but never actually open Him up in daily life. If you have ever wondered why your faith feels more informational than transformational, this message will show you what may be missing.
