It was another fabulous Birds of a Feather at the Flamingo Hotel in Santa Rosa this year. This event is a wonderful reminder to me of how much energy, passion, joy, and love that we have in our community and how I am grateful to be a part of it. Friday night in the ballroom was an “all vinyl” evening and I was honored to share the decks with Alvaro, DJ M3, and Wicked crew’s own DJ Garth. I didn’t know what to expect closing down the room for the night and was blessed to find a veteran crew on my dance floor ready to throw down. This set has some favorite house tracks from the late 90’s and early 2000’s, but what made it special for me was the breaks tracks that i got to play in the last 20 minutes of the set. It does not often happen, but the mood felt, right so there ya go. And there was a 3rd turntable setup, so I put some use to that as well. Hope you enjoy and thank you to everyone that made the weekend so special. Not actually my set from oh so vibrant and youthful DJ Brad Robinson's birthday rave, Lost In Space, last weekend. But close. This is my prep session, plus an extra 100 minutes of tracks, the whole thing taking off like a rocket and then floating gently off into the cosmos. Enjoy! - 8b

This one hits different now. DJ Dan and Krafty Kuts spent six months collaborating to build this set - trading ideas, pulling tracks, working toward something the community would remember. What came out of that process is what you're hearing: two artists at the top of their craft, playing as one, on New Year's Day in San Francisco at the Breakfast of Champions stage. Dan brought everything he had that day. He always did. We are all still processing the loss of DJ Dan. These two legends wanted to bring everything they had to the BoC crowd and that they did. This set is about bringing people together and experiencing the joy and community that music provides. Dan always said music is healing. This mix is proof. Recorded live — January 1, 2026 It's a New Day + BOC Breakfast of Champions New Year's Day Block Party Great Northern, San Francisco

After a brief hiatus, it’s such an honor to return to Breakfast of Champions / It’s a New Day with my Space Cowboys family. This one is special because it marks the very first set that features 100% original @kevnull productions—some released and many unreleased, including a last minute bootleg of Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill,” in honor of the Stranger Things series finale that aired a week prior. This set is a journey through many genres and bpms but I think you’ll find that, no matter what, it still has that kev/null sound. DJs out there, feel free to reach out if you want any of the tracks for use! Tracklist: 1. Pop It (Original Mix) - kev/null 2. Lift Off (Original Mix) - kev/null 3. On the Space Cowboys' RIPEcast this week Mancub rocks the decks live from the Mog stage at Breakfast of Champions Jan. 1, 2026. Had an absolute blast playing the Mog stage. Proud of our Bay Area community and enjoyed all the DJs sets. Thank you for having me again! - Mancub

This week on Space Cowboy's RIPEcast a blazing house set from our own Leyl Master Black. In her words "This was my favorite BOC ever. The music was top notch, the crowd brought their A-game, and the drizzle didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. I couldn’t wait to play my set, full of new vocal house bangers and some classics I’d never played at BOC. Enjoy!"

This year’s Breakfast of Champions may have started under gray skies, but the moment I stepped onto the BOC stage at noon, the clouds parted and the dancefloor filled. What followed was a full‑throttle celebration of my favorite tracks of the year—an hour where the crowd locked in, the beats hit just right, and the whole party came alive. Rain or shine, Breakfast of Champions is the ultimate way to kick off the year, and I was thrilled to help set the tone. Whether you were there getting down with us or you’re tuning in for the first time, enjoy the ride. -WorkR

Our second set from Breakfast of Champions comes chock full of breakbeats from our one and only Rumblemunk. In his words: The set starts with a cool and funky transition track with some well-known vocals to keep folks hooked. I admit: it's hard playing after shOOey. There are literally people hanging from the rafters and dancers all over the stage, and I try my best to keep them interested for as long as possible. The core of the set is an exploration of recent breakbeats that sound minimal, but really are an evolution of the 90s dub sound that traces directly from reggae to drum and bass. The 60-70 BPM of dub double-timed up to high 130s and low 140s BPM forces faster elements like hats and arpeggios to be simplified, but leaves space for really interesting layering when slowed down to 132 BPM. There's a run from 12:30 to 17:30 that exemplifies this layering and progression before dropping back into the more open foot-stompy breaks. I hadn't played it in a while, and was sort of missing the rapid-fire rapping of Eminem, so I dropped in Eminight's Doom, my bootleg of Eminem's Without Me and Timo Maas' Doom's Night. It wraps up a nice run of Plump DJs, Krafty Kuts, and Yo Speed. The final act of the set is a trip back through time to 2004 with deep cuts from Plump DJs, Evil Nine, and the Breakfastaz (name appropriate, no?). This all leads into the final track; a breakbeat remix of Megadeth's Peace Sells (But Who's Buying) from 1988. I was looking for something topical for the current times with space for live guitar, but wasn't finding any tracks that worked. The idea of remixing Megadeth has been on my mind for a while, and the similar BPM and angry lyrics (If there's a better way... I'll be the first in line... But it better work this time) meant I had to do this. The live guitar bit didn't pan out, but production time of 7 weeks from idea to master is a new record for me. Expect an official release with live guitar and club edits later in 2026. -Rumblemunk
