African vs. American cichlids—which are actually better? In the first episode of The Cichlid Bros Podcast, Troy and Alec go head-to-head comparing African and American cichlids and break down the biggest differences between the two. We compare them across some of the categories that matter most to cichlid keepers, including: 🐟 Coloration 🐟 Personality & behavior 🐟 Variety of species 🐟 Tank mates & compatibility 🐟 Aquascaping & tank setups 🐟 Our favorite species For this discussion, we're grouping Central and South American cichlids together as "American cichlids," while the African cichlid category includes Lake Malawi, Lake Tanganyika, Lake Victoria, Madagascar, and West African cichlids. And, of course, we ultimately have to answer the big question: Which is better—African or American cichlids? We also talk about what you can expect from The Cichlid Bros Podcast going forward. We're planning to release approximately one podcast episode per month in addition to our regular Cichlid Bros content, with future episodes covering more cichlid and aquarium topics and occasional interviews with interesting guests from the hobby. If you're into cichlids, freshwater aquariums, fishkeeping, African cichlids, Central American cichlids, South American cichlids, fish rooms, and aquarium setups, you're going to enjoy this one.
