How a Mom of 4 Built a Brand From Her Kitchen & Raises Screen-Free Kids | Julie Friedman | Ep 8
2026/10/28
Julie Friedman's daughter was almost three and barely speaking when a behavioral psychologist suggested sensory play. Store-bought dough didn't work, so Julie made her own in her kitchen. Ten years, six warehouse moves, and a lot of sold-out Tuesday nights later, Young, Wild & Friedman is on Target shelves.
On this episode of Raised Right with the Spells, Corley sits down with her friend Julie, a Houston mom of four, to talk about building a business with babies at home, why her kits still cost $39 ten years later, and how she's raising kids in a world full of screens. They get into screen-free schools, waiting until 8th grade for phones, food dyes and behavior, why it isn't your job to entertain your kids all day, and why Julie thinks gentle parenting is overrated.
Plus: how Good Ranchers was supposed to be a temporary way to fund a church, and the day Ben realized the business was the ministry.

Dr. Pompa on Fasting, Faith & Holistic Healing
2026/10/21
Dr. Daniel Pompa's labs came back normal. The head of toxicology told him he was healthier than the doctor. It took three more years to find the real problem: mercury.
On this episode of Raised Right with the Spells, Ben and Corley Spell sit down with Dr. Daniel Pompa, author of The Cellular Healing Diet and Beyond Fasting, and his wife Merilee for an honest, unpolished conversation about health, faith, marriage and raising five kids.
In this episode:
- How Dr. Pompa went from agnostic to believer by reading the Gospel of John
- The health crisis that began in 1999, and why he believes his silver fillings triggered it
- Why he calls five days the fasting "sweet spot," and what autophagy does in your body
- Fasting for spiritual breakthroughs, not just physical ones
- Going from two kids to five in six weeks after a family tragedy
- "Pain, purpose and a promise," the family mantra that carried them through
- Why their kids skipped college to start businesses
- Rapid fire: the most overrated wellness trend, the fasting myth he'd retire, and gentle parenting
Plus: the AI-written bio that got his entire childhood wrong, and a wedding-night story that's never been told on a podcast before.

NBA Trainer Quit His Dream Job: The Health Habits That Actually Matter | Scottie Parker
2026/10/14
What happens when you reach the top of your dream career — and it starts costing you your life?
Scottie Parker spent 12 years in pro sports: a Super Bowl ring with the Seattle Seahawks' Legion of Boom, then the youngest head athletic trainer in the NBA. On this episode of Raised Right, Ben and Corley Spell sit down with Scottie to talk about burnout, walking away from the job he'd dreamed of since sixth grade, and how God met him in the lowest season of his life.
Scottie also breaks down the health basics he used with elite athletes, adapted for busy moms and dads: protein at every meal, why sleep is the #1 recovery tool, how much creatine to take, and the minimum lifting and cardio everyone needs. Plus: why a global study of 200,000+ people found that shared meals predict well-being more strongly than income, and what that says about the family table.

We Lived in MrBeast’s Grocery Store for 7 Months: What Really Happened | Ep. 5
2026/10/07
What is it really like to live inside a MrBeast grocery store for months?
In this episode of Raised Right, Ben and Corley Spell sit down with two of the brothers who made it to the final four of MrBeast’s grocery store challenge—only to find out their “Last to Leave” competition was about to turn into an entirely new challenge: eat everything in the store.
They take us behind the scenes of what viewers didn’t see: surviving without their phones, creating makeshift showers, cooking day after day, running 100 miles as a team, and watching months of life pass by through a grocery store window.
But the hardest part wasn’t the food or the challenges.
It was being away from family.
One brother shares what it was like missing months of his kids’ lives, seeing his son grow taller through the store window, missing his graduation, and finally getting to tell him, “Daddy’s coming home.”
They also share what MrBeast—Jimmy Donaldson—is really like behind the cameras, the role family played throughout the experience, and why the biggest lesson they walked away with had nothing to do with money or fame.
Plus, Ben and Corley share the Good Ranchers side of the story: getting the unexpected call to stock MrBeast’s grocery store, supplying the meat for the challenges, and later giving back to the Greenville community through Beast Philanthropy.
IN THIS EPISODE:
• How they accidentally ended up in a MrBeast challenge
• What living in a grocery store for months was really like
• Going from Last to Leave to Eat Everything
• Missing kids, family milestones and life outside the store
• The $1 million challenge
• What MrBeast is actually like behind the scenes
• Good Ranchers’ role in stocking the grocery store
• Feeding the Greenville community through Beast Philanthropy
• Why family mattered more than money or fame
• The biggest lesson they learned from the experience

A Green Beret’s Guide to Marriage, Fatherhood & Masculinity | Nick Freitas
2026/09/30
What does it really mean to be a good husband, father, and man?
In this episode of Raised Right with the Spells, Ben sits down with Green Beret, husband, father, homeschool dad, and longtime friend Nick Freitas for an honest conversation about marriage, fatherhood, biblical masculinity, raising confident kids, and what it means to lead a family well.
Nick shares lessons shaped by military service, marriage, fatherhood, faith, and years of intentionally raising his children. From surviving deployments and learning how to communicate in marriage to raising sons and daughters with confidence, Nick brings a perspective that challenges the idea that parenting is simply about getting kids safely through childhood. Instead, the goal is to prepare them for adulthood.
They talk about:
• Why “happy wife, happy life” may be terrible marriage advice
• How to argue with your spouse without trying to “win”
• Why your marriage may be more important to your kids than another activity or opportunity
• Keeping God first, marriage second, and kids third
• The five areas of biblical masculinity: spiritual, emotional, intellectual, physical, and professional
• What it means for a man to truly protect and provide for his family
• Why fathers need to tell their daughters they love them
• What sons need to hear from their dads
• How a father’s relationship with his wife shapes his daughter’s expectations for marriage
• Why teenagers can actually become some of the easiest years of parenting
• Raising kids to become capable, responsible adults
• The lessons fathers don't realize their sons are learning from them
• Nick's unforgettable story about walking his daughter down the aisle
And yes… there are some incredible Green Beret stories along the way.
This is a conversation about faith, marriage, masculinity, parenting, responsibility, and raising the next generation right.

How We Kept Our Marriage Strong While Raising 6 Girls | The Busbys
2026/09/23
What does it really take to protect your marriage while raising six daughters—and doing it with millions of people watching?
Ben and Corley Spell sit down with their close friends Adam and Danielle Busby, known from TLC’s OutDaughtered, for an honest conversation that goes far beyond reality TV.
After 20 years of marriage and raising six girls—including the first all-girl set of quintuplets in the United States—Adam and Danielle have learned a few things about marriage, parenting, faith, and surviving the seasons when life feels completely overwhelming.
They talk about why dating your spouse matters even when you don’t feel like it, navigating conflict, learning to ask for help, setting boundaries with your kids, dealing with criticism from millions of strangers, and keeping faith at the center of your family.
Corley also shares how the Busbys unexpectedly became part of the Spell family's support system during one of their darkest seasons—Corley’s melanoma relapse—and the simple act of friendship that changed the way Ben and Corley think about showing up for people.
In this episode:
• Why Adam and Danielle still prioritize dating after 20 years of marriage
• How marriage can quietly become the “operating system” of running a family
• The hard season that forced the Busbys to reconnect
• Why your kids need to see Mom and Dad love each other
• Raising six completely different personalities
• Why boundaries can give children security
• Faith, marriage, and treating your relationship as a covenant
• What reality TV doesn’t show about the Busby family
• Handling criticism when millions of strangers have opinions about your parenting
• The power of community when a family is going through crisis
• Why sometimes the best way to help is to stop asking and simply show up
• Five toddlers vs. five pre-teens—which is actually harder?
This is a conversation about raising kids, but even more than that, it’s about raising a family you hope will still want to come home someday.
The Truth About American Beef Nobody Sees | Eamon O’Toole
2026/09/16
What does it really take to raise American beef—and why is it getting harder for family ranches to survive?
Ben Spell sits down at Ladder Ranch in Wyoming with Eamon O’Toole, a fifth-generation rancher whose family has worked the land for 145 years. Together, they go behind the scenes of American ranching, from raising cattle and caring for the land to the economics, drought, rising costs, imported beef, and the challenges facing the next generation of ranchers.
This isn't just a conversation about beef. It's about family, work ethic, stewardship, legacy, and preserving a way of life that most Americans will never experience firsthand—but all of us depend on. Eamon shares what it actually costs to raise cattle, why drought makes growing the national herd so difficult, why access to land is becoming a major barrier for young ranchers, and what he believes consumers should understand about where their beef comes from.
They also tackle the questions surrounding imported beef, traceability, Country of Origin Labeling, and what happens when imported meat enters the American beef supply chain.
And at the end, Ammon answers the question at the heart of this podcast:
What does it mean to be Raised Right?
“Having the right values and work ethic...and you want to be a contributing member of society.”

America's Beef Problem
2026/09/09
Why is beef so expensive—and will importing more beef actually fix the problem?
In the first episode of Raised Right with the Spells, Ben and Corley Spell take on the beef-price crisis, America’s shrinking cattle herd, the push to import 300,000 metric tons of beef, and the fight for country-of-origin labeling.
But this conversation is about much more than the price of a pound of ground beef.
Ben and Corley Spell explain why cattle can't simply be produced overnight, why American ranchers need confidence to rebuild their herds, and why a short-term price fix may not solve a decades-old problem.
They also talk about food security, American agriculture, consumer choice, faith, stewardship, and what it means to leave a stronger food system for the next generation.
IN THIS EPISODE:
• Why beef prices are so high
• What imported beef can—and can't—solve
• Why America's cattle herd has been shrinking
• Why country-of-origin labeling matters
• The challenges facing independent American ranchers
• How concentrated beef processing affects the market
• What consumers can do to support American agriculture
• Why food security is about more than what's on your grocery bill
• The role of faith and stewardship in protecting what we pass down
