MR. BEALE
2026/09/24
Joining us today is London-based alternative pop artist Mr Beale! On her newest track, Skin, Beale anthropomorphises herself into Ordovician prey. Cold and doomed, you swim toward warmer waters. Harnessing themes of evolution and body horror, she drowns you in her underwater world. She’s also a multimedia artist and vocalist in British Jazz band, Palafico Honey. Joining us all the way from the UK, she’s here today to chat new music, growing up, and navigating queerness.
This episode was presented to you by Nick Hibbs and produced by Kass Vincent and Alex Kennedy. Out of the Box is recorded at the fbi station in Redfern, which is on unceded Gadigal Land. We pay our respects to Gadigal elders past and present and recognise the ongoing colonial violence committed across this country. Wherever you’re tuning in from in so-called Sydney, the land always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.

NOW ALWAYS FADES
2026/09/16
In times like these, we need coalescence. Now Always Fades’ newest album, Coalesce, is a euphoric odyssey in reuniting old sounds with new. Featuring blockbuster features from Locust’s Olive Kimoto, Alias Error, and Lili Hall, Xavier Bacash scribes a sonic love letter to trip hop. No stranger to fbi radio, he was our Independent Artist of the Week last year with his release, Into the Doldrums. He joins us on the show today to chat all things production, collaboration and fatherhood!

REBEL YELL
2026/09/16
On the show today, we have one of my absolute favourite artists from Sydney. For 10 years, Grace Stevenson has been making music under the name Rebel Yell fusing dark industrial techno with her pop and melodic sensibilities. There aren’t many artists who seem to find the perfect middle ground between the two contrasting styles of music as seamlessly as Rebel Yell. Just last week, she released the EP Miss Worldwide. It’s funny, it's anthemic, it’s heavy, it’s just another gem in her incredible catalogue. I’m excited to chat about this, the upcoming shows, and so much more.

DOBBY
2026/09/16
Today’s guest is Filipino and Murrawarri musician DOBBY! Dobby started making waves as a self proclaimed ‘drapper’ as he incorporates his incredible drumming skills into multiple projects and his live performances. His debut album, “Warrangu: River Story”, was a record about the Murray Darling Basin and the degradation humanity has caused it over the years. That album was of course our album of the week back in 2024. His most recent album, Marshmallow, is another hefty concept album, this time taking on a journey back in time through is younger years.

SPARROWS
2026/08/11
On today’s episode, we have Sydney’s alt-pop veteran, Sparrows. Corporeal and fantastical, Jess Nitties microdoses whimsy and manifests her internal worlds. Her music is a tapestry of sound design, weaving familiar pop elements with ornamental percussion. No stranger to the airwaves, she was awarded fbi’s Independent Artist of the Week in 2018. She makes her radio return in lieu of new music JUST around the corner. Jess - let’s get Out of the Box!This episode was presented to you by Nick Hibbs and produced by Alex Kennedy. BILLY WOODS
2026/08/04
Today's guest is one of the most distinctive voices in hip hop today. For more than two decades, New York rapper Billy Woods has built a reputation for his vivid storytelling and thoughtful, densely layered political lyricism, which mirror his fiercely independent approach to making music. Following his sensational show at Manning Bar, we're so excited to welcome him to Out of the Box.

GIGISTHEORY
2026/07/30
In a digital age where misinformation propagates - originality thrives. Our guest on the show today, Gigi’s Theory, creates a space for the culturally curious. Deep diving into the pockets of music, fashion, and art, she identifies tastemakers, highlighting black art and sounds. Her artisanal commentary has solidified her as a trusted voice within the Melbourne art scene. Gigi joins us here today to chat about competing with the algorithm, her hopes and dreams for the future of art, and of course - music!

EALING
2026/07/30
Today’s guest is one i’ve been trying to get on the show for almost a year, seriously, our conversation starts back in November. A DJ and producer who really questions the idea of “genre” by fluently floating between every different form of electronic music you can think of, from IDM, bass, pop, glitch, noise, hip-hop and putting them all on the same record or mix. Technically a Sydney based artist, question mark, for the past year, ealing has been living in Taiwan, performing and making new music. Having only just touched down in Sydney about a week ago, I'm so thrilled to finally have them on the show.

SOLLYY
2026/07/30
Making his grand return on Out of the Box, we have the ironclad king of Western Sydney, it’s SOLLYY! Since he was on last, he’s continued shaking up the rap scene with his euphonic beats and die-cast bars. Scribing tongue-in-cheek delinquency on the T1 line, he’s brought that kid-in-the-back of the class energy to the world stage. After leaving his heart out west with last years’ release, he’s here to chat about the star-studded new album, his creative process, and what he has to come.

T BREEZY
2026/07/30
Today’s guest is T Breezy, a Gamilaraay rapper from Inverell NSW. Coming onto the scene with his debut EP ‘2360’, which won album of the week honours here at fbi radio, T Breezy brought a harder, southern hip hop influenced style of trap which quickly set him apart from the rest of Australian hip-hop. A mainstay in the underground, his 2024 collaborative album ‘Souths Most Wanted’ with Walkerboy, showed us that 2360 was just a taste of what’s to come. He recently put out his 2nd EP, Traction, further refining that singular sound and putting his ambition on full display.

VIOLET GROHL
2026/07/30
Today’s guest is the next big thing in alt rock, joining us all the way from LA is Violet Grohl! Violet’s new album, Be Sweet to Me, which came out just a few weeks ago harks back to classic punk with a sleek modern twist, though it’s punctuated by some truly beautiful tender moments that reveal her other side.

CLIPPING.
2026/07/30
Put your mirrorshades on! Our guests today are the one and only industrial hip-hop trio clipping. Making their appearance on the scene back in 2009, they’ve been pushing the envelope ever since. Their sonics infuse afrofuturism, horrorcore, and sci-fi storytelling, as seen in their sibling concept albums, There Existed an Addiction to Blood, and Visions of Bodies being Burned. Their release from last year, Dead Channel Sky, once again raises the bar, adding glitch, EDM, and acid techno into the cauldron. Joining us ahead of their upcoming tour, and hitting our shores for the first time EVER, they’re here today please welcome Daveed and William from clipping.!

From ambient, to drone, IDM, techno, jungle and more often than not all of these in the same record. On his newest and seventh full length album, Tremor, he experiments with his first true musical love - shoegaze! KING STINGRAY
2026/06/04
Our guest today are one of the most iconic surf rock bands to ever come out of Australia, so much so that they have become synonymous with their own brand of this - Yolngu surf rock. Coming together in 2020, King Stingray have been making waves for their unabashedly optimistic music and blending of the Yolngu language with english in their lyrics. I’m joined by Roy Kellaway and Ngalakan "Billy" Wanambi ahead of their Sydney Opera House show tomorrow!
