Gospel of the Kingdom: Death of John the Baptist (Matt. 14:1-12)
2026/09/28
In Matthew 14:1–12, we explore how the fear of man can trap us, silence our witness, and lead us into disobedience. Through the striking parallels between Herod and Ahab, and Herodias and Jezebel, we see how pride, immorality, manipulation, and fear can corrupt those in power, while John the Baptist stands boldly for the truth. This passage challenges us to examine how the fear of man affects our faith, our willingness to confront sin, our worship, and our relationships. Discover what it means to trust God above the opinions of people and walk in the courage and freedom of genuine obedience to Jesus.
Gospel of the Kingdom: Jesus Rejected at Nazareth (Matt. 13:53-58)
2026/09/21
In Matthew 13:53–58, Jesus returns to His hometown of Nazareth, where the people know His family, His background, and His past—but their familiarity leads to unbelief and offense. This sermon explores how pride, familiarity, and distorted ideas about faith can keep us from truly hearing and obeying God.
True faith isn't about positive thinking, formulas, or trying to force God to do what we want. Faith listens to God, responds with obedience, and ultimately says, "Not my will, but yours, be done."
Discover how reverence, submission, Scripture, wise counsel, and the leading of the Holy Spirit help us move from unbelief to genuine faith.
Gospel of the Kingdom: New and Old Treasures (Matt. 13:51-52)
2026/09/14
In Matthew 13, Jesus reveals a powerful truth about the Kingdom of Heaven: we are living in a season of waiting, where good and evil grow together until the day God makes all things right.
This sermon explores the biblical story of God's covenants—from Eden, Noah, Abraham, Moses, the Land, and David, to the New Covenant established through Jesus. The "new and old treasures" Jesus describes point us to the way the promises and teachings of the Old Testament find their fulfillment and greater clarity in Christ.
This message also offers comfort in the midst of suffering, sickness, grief, and loss. Our pain is not evidence that God has lost control, nor does the coming of God's kingdom depend on having enough faith to eliminate every difficulty. The kingdom comes according to God's timing.
Until that day, we have been given the power of the Holy Spirit and a treasure to share—the good news of Jesus Christ. We can pray boldly for healing while resting in the greater hope of Christ's return, the resurrection of the dead, and the day when death, mourning, crying, and pain will be no more.
Our hope is not in escaping every hardship. Our hope is in Jesus, who will one day make all things new.
Gospel of the Kingdom: Hidden Treasure, the Pearl, and the Net (Matt. 13:44-52)
2026/09/07
In this message from Matthew 13:44-50, we dig into Jesus's parables of the hidden treasure, the pearl of great price, and the net full of fish. These are three short stories with one big claim: the kingdom of heaven is worth everything. But does that mean salvation is something we earn? Along the way we name the three honest reactions to a call this extreme (dread, offense, and trembling wonder), and we hear real stories of surrender, from missionaries like Bruce Olson and Brother Andrew to a pastor's own family choosing years ago to stop giving God a half "yes." Wherever you land today, this message is an invitation to stop asking "what's the minimum?" and give an honest "yes" to the God who's worth everything.
Gospel of the Kingdom: The Mustard Seed and the Leaven (Matt. 13:31-35)
2026/08/31
What does Jesus mean when He compares the Kingdom of Heaven to a mustard seed and leaven?
In Matthew 13, Jesus reveals mysteries about the Kingdom that had been hidden since the foundation of the world. These parables point to the reality that good and evil will continue to grow alongside one another until the end.
In this message, Dustin Aguilar explores the biblical imagery of the mustard seed, the tree and its birds, and the leaven that spreads throughout the dough. Rather than treating these parables as simple motivational messages, we are challenged to recognize their warning: evil and corruption can spread, even among those who appear to be part of God's Kingdom.
The message calls us to remain faithful, guard against the "leaven" of malice, hypocrisy, fear, compromise, and sin, and continually walk by the Spirit.

Gospel of the Kingdom: The Parable of the Weeds of the Field (Matt. 13:24-43)
2026/08/17
In this message on the Parable of the Weeds of the Field (Matthew 13:24-43), we explore Jesus's strange picture of the kingdom of heaven as a field where wheat and toxic weeds grow together until harvest — a warning that the church will always contain a mix of true and false believers until the final judgment sorts it out. We look at what it means to be a "son of the kingdom" versus a "son of the evil one," and what Jesus's repeated phrase "weeping and gnashing of teeth" actually means.

Gospel of the Kingdom: The Reason for the Parables (Matt. 13:10-17)
2026/08/03
Ever wondered why Jesus told parables—was it to make truth simple, or to hide it? This message answers that question head-on, and unpacks the harder ones that follow: Does God choose to reveal Himself to some and withhold from others? Is that fair? And if He hardens hearts like He did Pharaoh's, is there still hope for you? You'll walk away understanding Romans 9's sovereignty language, seeing that God doesn't reveal His kingdom to the "wise and understanding," but to the humble, needy, and childlike who admit they can't do this on their own. If you've ever quietly feared that God doesn't want you, or wrestled with whether His choices are just, this message meets that fear directly.
VBS Sunday: James 1:5-8
2026/07/27
If you're in the middle of a trial right now and feeling tossed back and forth by your circumstances, this message may offer some real help. Through James 1:5-8, we consider that when we're struggling to endure hardship, what we often need isn't just relief or an answer—it's wisdom, and God promises to give it generously to those who ask. This sermon also explores a common, anxious misreading of "ask in faith, with no doubting" that can leave believers feeling like their prayers don't count unless they're 100% certain of the outcome. Instead, we consider what real faith might look like, drawing on Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego's "even if" heart posture: "God can, God will, but even if He doesn't, I will not turn my back on Him."
Gospel of the Kingdom: The Parable of the Sower (Matt. 13:1-9)
2026/07/20
In this message on the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13), we explore how different heart conditions affect our response to the Word of God—whether it's stolen through misunderstanding, withers under pressure, is choked by worldly cares, or produces lasting fruit. Jesus challenges us to examine our own hearts while also reshaping how we view evangelism: our role is simply to sow and water, trusting God with the results. This sermon calls us to cultivate good soil through repentance, dependence on God, and community, and to share the gospel with confidence, knowing that those with ears to hear will respond.
Gospel of the Kingdom: The Return of the Unclean Spirit (Matt. 12:43-45)
2026/07/06
In this message on Matthew 12:43–45, we unpack Jesus' vivid warning about the return of an unclean spirit and what it reveals about a truly spiritual worldview. While the passage raises many intriguing questions about demons and the unseen realm, the central point is not a detailed teaching on deliverance, but a sobering rebuke: the generation that rejected Jesus would end up in a far worse condition than before. Tracing the context of Jesus' confrontation with the Pharisees, we see how this illustration points to Israel's rejection of Christ, the "empty house" of the temple, and the eventual devastation of Jerusalem. At the same time, this message brings the focus home—highlighting how modern Western culture often enjoys the benefits of God while rejecting His presence, leaving a dangerous spiritual vacuum. The call is clear: repentance, confession, and a life filled with the Holy Spirit are essential, not just once, but as an ongoing rhythm of discipleship. Ultimately, this sermon challenges us to move beyond a shallow faith into genuine intimacy with God, reminding us that the goal is not just freedom from darkness, but being filled with the presence of God Himself.

Sacred Songs: Psalm 103
2026/06/27
In this message on Psalm 103, we wrap up the Sacred Songs series by exploring how to navigate spiritual mountaintops, valleys, and the often-overlooked "spiritual normal" that defines most of the Christian life. Rather than chasing constant highs, we're challenged to build consistent disciplines in seasons of joy that will sustain us in seasons of dryness—learning to command our souls to bless the Lord regardless of how we feel. Walking through David's self-exhortation, we see the power of remembering God's benefits, stiring our faith through others' testimonies, and anchoring our hope in the ultimate fulfillment of God's promises through Jesus, who bears our sins and secures our redemption. This sermon also highlights how true worship engages "all that is within us," illustrated through a powerful youth camp experience where repentance, unity, and wholehearted pursuit of God led to breakthrough and transformation. As we celebrate together and look ahead, this message calls us to stir our souls, seek God intentionally, and step fully into moments of worship, trusting that as we draw near to Him, He draws near to us.
