Monarch: Legacy of Monsters: Season 2, Episode 8, "Separate Ways"
2026/04/18
This week, Da7e and Neil are still watching Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, a show that now includes some Godzilla. They also continue the highly-acclaimed Godzilla Project RPG! In The Calm [07:58], they break down the shortest episode of season two so far and attempt to understand the rules of character travel times. They are also forced to perform an unfortunate Godzilla Antagonist Check-in. Then in The Storm [46:26], your faithful hosts look ahead to the final two episodes of the season and spool up theories about what monster fights might lay ahead. And finally, The Godzilla Project [01:02:00] RPG wraps up post production with consequential dice rolls that will determine the quality of reshoots, the film's final cut, and one of the pivotal elements of any Godzilla film, the score. Next week, Monarch season two delivers its penultimate episode. And The Godzilla Project moves into the marketing phase with Neil making his pitch for a trailer and more. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters: Season 2, Episode 7, "String Theory"
2026/04/11
This week, Da7e and Neil get distracted from their search for Godzilla by a flurry of confusing time travel rules as Monarch: Legacy of Monsters enters its season-closing arc. In The Calm [07:20], they question the laws of space and time as they apply to this show's plot and wonder how the writer's room will dig itself out of an increasingly perilous corner. They also discuss the potential resolutions to the season's story and whether any of them would be satisfying without breaking the canon of the Monsterverse. Then in The Storm [57:30], your faithful hosts anticipate next week's episode, which promises a shorter runtime but, more importantly, the long-awaited presence of Godzilla. And finally, The Godzilla Project [01:06:16] RPG dives into the post-production process as Neil's Godzilla: Awakening gets an assembly cut, a conclusion, and a schedule for reshoots as studio interference looms. Next week, coverage of Monarch continues with season 2, episode 8, "Separate Ways." And The Godzilla Project RPG finishes post production with the hope that Godzilla: Awakening will come in on time and under budget.  To interact with the show, send your comments and questions to [email protected], and follow us on Twitter/X and Bluesky @Da7eandNeil. You can also support Da7e and Neil and get all kinds of bonus content (from the Game of Thrones era to the LOST rewatch to our Twin Peaks rewatch project to our current Adventure Pod and recently concluded Hannibal watch project and our upcoming Dark watch project that starts this Sunday, April 12th!) by subscribing to our Patreon here: patreon.com/Da7eandNeil

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters: Season 2, Episode 6, "Requiem"
2026/04/04
This week, Da7e and Neil celebrate the arrival of a long-lost Titan friend, if only briefly, as Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 gains momentum. In The Calm [06:46], they consider whether this season of television would work better if it were a few episodes shorter. Then they break down the episode, highlighting its befuddling editing choices, a new addition to the cast, and the necessity for an Antagonist Check-In for at least one member of the Randa family. Then in The Storm [56:40], your faithful hosts do their best to explain String Theory and use it to predict just how much timey-wimey nonsense this show is about to throw at its audience. And finally, The Godzilla Project [01:06:00] RPG experience continues. Producer Neil takes more notes from the creative braintrust (the listeners), makes important decisions about key action set pieces, and rolls dice to decide if he's going to get buy-in from one of the big names in his cast. Next week, coverage of Monarch continues with season 2, episode 7, "String Theory." And The Godzilla Project RPG moves into post production as editing begins and reshoots are considered for Godzilla: Awakening.  To interact with the show, send your comments and questions to [email protected], and follow us on Twitter/X and Bluesky @Da7eandNeil. You can also support Da7e and Neil and get all kinds of bonus content (from the Game of Thrones era to the LOST rewatch to our Twin Peaks rewatch project to our current Adventure Pod and recently concluded Hannibal watch project and our upcoming Dark watch project that starts on April 12th!) by subscribing to our Patreon here: patreon.com/Da7eandNeil

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters: Season 2, Episode 5, "Furusato"
2026/03/28
This week, Da7e and Neil continue their search for any trace of Godzilla in their Godzilla Show as Monarch: Legacy of Monsters continues to reveal that the real monsters are, in fact, Bad Dads™️. In The Calm [04:56], they explain the correct order for watching the Monsterverse movies and where Monarch (roughly) fits on the timeline. Then they break down this week's episode and attempt to do the math on the migration patterns of Titan X. The in The Storm [1:00:52], your faithful hosts look ahead to next week's episode and another promise that maybe Godzilla will join the party. They also entertain a wild theory about time traveling Kurt Russells.  And finally, Session Four of The Godzilla Project [01:09:30] kicks off production on Godzilla: Awakening with a big speech from Hollywood Mogul Neil, some character notes from Norse Mythology expert Mads Mikkelsen, and dice rolls that could make or break the film's box office and critic scores. Next week, coverage of Monarch continues with season 2, episode 6, "Requiem." And The Godzilla Project RPG attempts to wrap up its shoot and move into post-production without rolling any natural 1s.  To interact with the show, send your comments and questions to [email protected], and follow us on Twitter/X and Bluesky @Da7eandNeil. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters: Season 2, Episode 4, "Trespass"
2026/03/21
This week, Da7e and Neil take issue with the pacing and character decisions on Monarch: Legacy of Monsters as season 2 approaches its midpoint. Then they continue The Godzilla Project RPG experience with several key pre-production decisions and dice rolls! In The Calm [04:36], they break down this week's episode and question whether Monarch is spinning its wheels too much. They also wonder how far the show will go in its criticisms of free market capitalism and when Godzilla might show up to the party.  The in The Storm [53:46], your faithful hosts spool up a few theories about what will happen when storylines converge in Santa Soledad and what kind of connection certain characters have with Titan X. And finally, Session Three of The Godzilla Project [01:03:06] finishes the casting process for Neil's Godzilla: Awakening. He faces several pivotal dice rolls to determine the length and cost of production. Next week, coverage of Monarch continues with season 2, episode 5, "Furusato." And The Godzilla Project RPG continues as production gets rolling.  To interact with the show, send your comments and questions to [email protected], and follow us on Twitter/X and Bluesky @Da7eandNeil. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters: Season 2, Episode 3, "Secrets"
2026/03/14
This week, Da7e and Neil continue their coverage of season two of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters as the Randa family gets messier and Titan X glows in new hues. In The Calm [06:28], they discuss the show's slowing plot, its somewhat confusing presentation of travel times, and its latest foray into Bad Dad territory.  The in The Storm [57:48], Da7e uses some newly-released behind the scenes footage to predict some of the season's upcoming action. And Neil has a long list of questions about what Apex is doing in Pensacola, Florida. And finally, Session Two of The Godzilla Project [01:07:34] sees Neil's Godzilla: Awakening project lock in its screenwriter and a few of the top-line cast members that will grace its poster. And his search for a VFX house threatens to eat up his already modest budget. Next week, coverage of Monarch continues with season 2, episode 4, "Trespass." And The Godzilla Project RPG continues to roll the dice with Neil filling out the rest of his cast.  To interact with the show, send your comments and questions to [email protected], and follow us on Twitter/X and Bluesky @Da7eandNeil. 2026/03/08
