With few points left to spare this season NYCFC only earned one point out of a possible six, but strangely the mood around the team feels lighter than in weeks past.  The midweek opponent was one of the Eastern Conference’s toughest and the visitor’s on Saturday despite being out of the top four in the west brought a dominant attacking threat.  And NYCFC held their own against the likes of Son and Bouanga to salvage the point and hopefully build towards a road victory this coming Saturday in Orlando. This week Mike Anderer, Mike Allen and J.R. diBart go into a deep dive on Etihad Park after Mike Allen got to tour the venue in the final stages of its construction.  Then the trio talk about the two matches from the week and look ahead at the bleak but still attainable playoff picture for the club.

This is definitely in the top 5 of worst NYCFC losses and it comes at the worst time.  NYCFC continues to skid down the table. They’ve been woeful in the last 11 games and the competition for the next three matches does not get any easier.   This week the guys try and hold it together as they discuss the biggest question facing the club, “Do they believe in themselves?”

NYCFC need a mental break.  The team is in its own head.  Head Coach, Pascal Jansen, and midfielder, Johhny Shore, both shared those thoughts after the 2-2 draw from Atlanta.  Luckily for the players and the coaching staff alike, MLS is off for international break and this might just be the pause that the team needs to get their mojo back and be competitive for the remaining eight games of the season. This week Mike Anderer, Mike Allen and J.R. diBart share their views on what can help improve the mood and the results for the team.

Hudson River Derby Loss and a Surprise Signing The season started with so much hope and promise.  A full preseason with Jansen, a stable roster, and the anticipation of new additions.  Then the injuries happened.  Then the dropped points started to add up.  Then the realization hit that this could be one of the worst point totals in NYCFC history.   Then to add insult to injury, the club signs former Red Bull defender Matt Miazga. This week Mike Anderer, Mike Allen, and J.R. diBart share their thoughts on the game and what the addition of the former defender of the year means to season.

Stop the Presses, NYCFC Won a Game! Streaks happen in sports.  It is part of the cycle of a season.  NYCFC can only hope that the victory on Saturday is a pivotal moment for the remainder of their season with only nine games remaining and the team clinging to a playoff position. NYCFC Slows Nashville’s Momentum The hottest team in MLS entered Yankee Stadium on a crisp late summer night and the hometown Boys In Blue humbled the visitors with a gritty 0-0 draw.  It wasn’t without drama and near misses, but it was good enough to keep NYCFC above the playoff line as the number of remaining games shrinks to eleven.   This week Christian Smith fills in for JR diBart as the guys talk about the scoreless match from Friday and share post-game audio clips from Matt Freese, Thiago Martins and Nico Fernandez Mercau.

Tayvon Gray Extends His Contract and Sits On the Bench It could simply be a case of load management.  It could be a tactical match-up decision, or it could be a slight attitude adjustment moment.  Regardless of the reason, the result was the same, another late goal conceded by NYCFC to drop more points from winning positions.  This time on the road to an amped up Toronto FC in front of a fiesty Canadian crowd. There is no J.R. diBart this week so the two Mikes talk about Tayvon Gray’s extension, give Todd Dunivant a mid-season grade through two transfer windows and breakdown the weekend clash north of the border.

A Late Upset In Cincy and a Familiar Face In Foxboro The most surprising part of this week’s episode is the fact that JR grew up inside a bubble that isolated him from Dolly Parton.  The legendary singer passed away on Tuesday afternoon before the episode was recorded.  Obviously the other two hosts were stunned by the revelation, but the show carried on with discussion on NYCFC player and former player rumors.  Then the trio talk about the results from the past week which resulted in NYCFC earning one point out of six on the road again Cincinnatti and New England.

More Dropped Points At Home From Winning Positions If there is a consistent theme for NYCFC in 2026 it is dropping points at home.  In just under half of their eleven home games this season, NYCFC have dropped points in five of those matches. The team is still fighting its way back through some key injuries and quite honestly, is a completely different team post World Cup, but the trend in results remain the same.  NYCFC is a mid-table team at best and will remain there until they get healthy. This week the guys look back at the Leagues Cup match versus Necaxa and the MLS regular season match against the Philadelphia Union.

Todd Dunivant and Leagues Cup Matches One and Two NYCFC played their first two Leagues Cup matches this past week and with the result from Sunday, they are not likely to advance regardless of the result from Thursday’s game.  This week the regular crew of the two Mikes and J.R. discuss the interview from last week with NYCFC Sporting Director, Todd Dunivant, and they breakdown the two Leagues Cup games. This episode includes audio from Todd Dunivant, Pascal Jansen, Nico Cavallo and Cooper Flax.

The Soccer Don Departs, Poch Stays, and Sims Speaks Don Garber’s tenure as MLS Commissioner will come to an end on January 1, 2027.  As the league enters the next phase of its growth and development with the calendar change, they will do so with a new leader at the helm, Larry Berg.   This week the guys discuss the big headlines in the US Soccer world and give their thoughts on the frustrating draw for NYCFC at home against Toronto.  There’s also clips from Brad Sims as he addressed the media on Monday and post game reactions from Matt Freese and James Sands.

Winning! After a two month hiatus NYCFC returned to the pitch battered, bruised and hungry.  The injury bug left nine players unavailable for the two games this past week, but for those that stayed healthy, it was an incredible two games, most notably for Augustin Ojeda.   The big question as always, will the young winger be able to maintain his level of impact on the games ahead. This week Mike Anderer, Mike Allen and J.R. diBart go over the the victories and talk all things MLS.

Etihad Park Opens July 17, 2017! This could be the biggest moment in NYCFC’s history.  If not the biggest at the least it will be in the conversation of the top three.  It is the inaugural NYCFC match at their new home, their forever home, Etihad Park! This week Mike Anderer, Mike Allen, J.R. diBart and Blue City Radio super-sub, Christian Smith, talk about the end of the World Cup, the arrival of James Sands and Benie Traore and the newly released ticket information regarding Etihad Park.

In Their Traore Era While the World Cup continues for some, the men of the United States are heading home.  After a solid group stage and knock out round win against Bosnia-Herzegovina the USMNT looked like their old selves in a 4-1 loss to Belgium.  This week Mike Anderer, J.R. diBart and Mike Allen talk about all of the controversy surrounding the Round of 16 match and have a broader conversation about VAR and technology in the game. The guys also talk about the new signing for NYCFC, striker Benie Traore.
