ModChat 149 - PS5 13.60 Jailbreak & Hypervisor Exploit, Xbox 360 Softmod, Halo Ported to EVERYTHING
2026/10/21
Another densely packed episode, this time still managing to be almost two hours in runtime despite the topics here being releases we've seen within the past month! The PS5 gets a ton of attention with both a full jailbreak and a hypervisor exploit releasing for firmware 13.60, as well as the long awaited Peer Pressure softmod for Xbox 360 which dropped the same week. The PS3 also gets some major love thanks to the bootloader being decrypted, and we of course have TONS of ports to go over!
ModChat 148 - PS5 Hypervisor Drama, Xbox 360 Softmod Details Revealed, Switch 2 Game Binary Dumped
2026/09/23
Lend your eyes and ears to the longest ModChat episode in a while! Due to missing last month's episode, I decided to have two months worth of content into a single episode and... Well, here we are with a nearly two hour episode! PS5 drama around the hypervisor, new PS4 and PS5 jailbreaks, PSX/PS2 love, and of course tons of new developments released and incoming for the Xbox 360. This is without a doubt one of the busiest times in the modding world I've seen, and that doesn't include the countless game ports we're seeing either! Oh yeah, several of those get some love here.
ModChat 147 - Switch 2 Userland Exploit, ARK-5 for PSP, PS5 Emulation & Jailbreak Bounty
2026/07/25
We've got a bit of everything this time around for ModChat! Recompilations are picking up more steam thanks to ModernGekko paired with DolRecomp. The 3DS gets a low level emulator, and the PS5 gets big news on TWO emulators! Both Switch and Switch 2 get a userland exploit teased on them. We've also got some substantial ports such as Unreal Tournament on the original Xbox, a whole Dreamcast emulator also for the original Xbox, and a Half-Life port teased for the PS1 of all things. Oh, and if you're smart with the PS5 and like money, you might want to stay tuned for the jailbreak bounty from FULU.
ModChat 146 - PCIe 3 SSDs on PS5, System246/256 Emulation, Bad Update Standby Mode, PS1USB Dev Cart
2026/07/15
Looks like these hour or longer episodes might be the standard for ModChat now, huh? That's just how much has been happening recently! P2JB on PS5 gets ported to multiple entry points, but that's not all for the exciting bits! There's been discoveries made over how to get around the PCIe 4.0 SSD limitation the PS5 implemented, as well as some awesome further developments and applications being made to help the PS5 scene even further. The PS2 gets some arcade love thanks to the PCSX2x6 emulator, making System246 and System256 emulation accessible and possible. Bad Update or ABadAvatar users also get to see a whole new feature added to the Xbox 360 thanks to a standby mode being developed! The PS1 also gets some love between a solderless ODE and the PS1USB development cartridge. Tune in, listen, and enjoy for more modding news!
ModChat 145 - PS4 & PS5 Licensing Changes Explained, PS5 Linux Loader Released, 12.70 PS5 Jailbreak
2026/07/15
More developments and releases surrounding mostly the PS4 and PS5 in this episode! This starts out with mentioning tico, an emulator frontend for the Switch which brings native GameCube and Wii emulation to the Switch in a recent update. The PS4 and PS5 license change which was quietly released recently gets broken down and explained here as well, just before the news of the PS5 Linux Loader dropping! We also see a new jailbreak for PS5 working up to firmware 12.70 which requires some patience if you can spare a couple hours per run. There's also some pretty neat releases here for the PS2, PSP, Xbox 360, Wii, and even Xbox One! Tune in and enjoy.
ModChat 144 - PS3 4.93, PS5 Jailbroken Up to 12.00, exFAT Support on PSP
2026/04/11
I didn't think we'd be doing back-to-back extra long episodes of ModChat, but here we are! The progress across all console scenes hasn't slowed down it seems! Talking about a ton here including the Switch getting TWO Atmosphere updates, the current status of the PS3 scene due to the 4.93 update, and explaining the complexities surrounding the PS5 12.00 jailbreak. Not everyone out there is a Star Wars fan, but there's good reasons to be one! Oh, and if you're on the latest firmware, there's some fun to be had. The PSP, a handheld near and dear to me, also gets some AMAZING developments in the form of exFAT support and ExtremeSpeed. Literally!
ModChat 143 - Xbox One Hacked, Linux on PS5, Xbox 360 exFAT Support Incoming, SEGAGAGA Translated

We also go back to the PS3 as BadWDSD with qCFW has finally released! Well, kinda, tune in for more on that. Oh, and of course for some Xbox 360 developments that flew under the radar.
ModChat 141 - PS4 13.00 Vue Progress, PS5 ROM Keys Overhyped, PS5 12.00 Star Wars JB Rise and Fall
2026/01/24
A bit late in the month, but we've got a giant update blast ahead! Tons of game news here from Twilight Princess being decompiled, to plenty of homebrew ports of games to different consoles such as Marvel Rivals and Sonic Mania. Even oddities like Supra Mayro Kratt and OpenWRT running on the Xbox 360 of all things! PS2 DVD entrypoints continue to come in the form of YADE, plus some love for the original Xbox with XboxMemCard for RP2040/RP2350 devices and some helpful 3D printable tools for 1.6 RAM mods. The PS4 and PS5 also get a TON of coverage here, starting with the PS4's progress so far with the upcoming PlayStation Vue entrypoint being Vue After Free. The news of the PS5's ROM keys being found is also covered here, just not in the way I'm sure most people are expecting. We even cover the rise and fall of a previously hyped PS5 jailbreak! Plenty more in here, so tune in and enjoy.

ModChat 138 - Modfest Returns & Y2JB Release for PS5
2025/10/28
Xbox-Scene's Modfest returns for the second time! Participate in some friendly competition, maybe win some prizes, and help the community with some innovations all in one go! Aside from that announcement, RXDK gets some more love with its own Neighborhood release spanning across all major operating systems. Clone Hero gets a homebrew port to the Xbox 360, and even more love for the sake of customization comes with a really helpful Aurora skin making guide. Even the Xbox One and Series get some coverage here with the open source release of the ASPECT2 PCB! It isn't all Xbox centric news around here though, especially with the release of Y2JB for PS5. The GameCube also gets some love thanks to the release of Cubiboot. Finally, 'tis the season for spooky games, and why not celebrate it with an integrated randomizer for the classic Castlevania: Symphony of the Night?

Only a single topic being covered for this episode, but this was big enough to warrant a quick ModChat to discuss the excitement around this announcement. Grimdoomer has accomplished the impossible and achieved yet another milestone in the world of game console reverse engineering by showing evidence of a real softmod! No RGH, no JTAG, no Bad Update. Seeing is believing, so see for yourself!

Great
Mostly revolves around console modding and the community’s surrounding that. I would be five star if not for some bad pod-etiquette and not editing...
