A memorial to a man murdered while serving his constituents — treated like a spittoon. Where is the respect? Where is the basic bloody decency?  Girls abused by grooming gangs have spent years fighting to be heard. Now the public inquiry must expose who failed them, who dismissed them and who looked away. We need names, answers and consequences. How many more times must victims demand that the institutions paid to protect them actually do their jobs?  I will wear my poppy with pride. But remembrance must mean more than politicians bowing their heads once a year before returning to the same failures. They owed those heroes a better country. They owe their children and grandchildren one too. So yes, I'm asking: WAS THEIR SACRIFICE WORTH IT? And if that question offends our political class, perhaps they should take a bloody good look at the country they're presiding over. I look for travel insurance and suddenly my Facebook and X feeds are stuffed with offers from companies I haven't even approached. I wanted an insurance quote, not a bloody relationship! Then there's Amazon and Netflix, forever suggesting what I might like. Watch this. Buy that. Try this next. LEAVE ME ALONE! I want to discover things for myself. Browse, explore, make my own choices. I don't need an algorithm organising my life around what it thinks will keep me watching or spending. Out in the street, there's another camera. Online, another cookie request. Another account to create, another app to download, another demand for personal information. Why do you need it? Who are you sharing it with? And when do I get a say? Everyone is holding too much information on us. Our movements, our purchases, our interests, our habits. We're expected to hand it over, trust whoever collects it and accept another intrusion as the price of everyday life. Where does this end? How much of ourselves are we supposed to surrender? This is part of why I'm leaving the country. I'm heading to Southeast Asia — places we're encouraged to regard as "less developed". Well, I hope I might find a bit more freedom to wander, explore and get on with my life. I'll find out when I get there. But what does it say about life here that the prospect of being left alone has become something I'm travelling halfway around the world to look for?  I'm 65. I want an adventure. I want to look around me and decide for myself what interests me. I don't want the rest of my life fed back to me as a list of recommendations. Are you fed up too? Why are prisoners being released early because we haven't got enough prison places? We need a bloody leader, not another consumer champion. Put down the phone, forget the next TikTok video and get a grip. Trump says France should close its borders. Is he right—and should Britain and the rest of Europe follow suit? And stop telling us we must all "share the burden" of accommodating illegal migrants. Who asked us? Moving people around the country spreads the consequences of a failed border policy. It doesn't fix it. I don't want illegal migration into Britain. Those who arrive without permission should be in secure accommodation while their identities and claims are checked, with removal when they have no right to remain. Wanting controlled borders and proper checks does not make you racist. Defend the policy instead of smearing the people expected to live with it. The Americans withdrew their bombers from Fairford following security threats. What was the danger, what has changed, and how are people here being protected? Emergency supplies advice and debates about military service deserve clear explanations. Ministers say there are no plans for conscription—so tell us exactly what preparations ARE being made. With unrest in France, what is being done to prevent violence here? Are residents being heard, or will ministers wait until trouble erupts before taking their concerns seriously? Whether it's access to housing, pressure on services, public safety or simply the right to have a say about what happens in their neighbourhood, people feel ignored. And what does the political establishment do? Lecture them! Dismiss their concerns! Tell them everything is under control! WELL, IT BLOODY WELL ISN'T! My argument is simple. People arriving without verified identities should be held in secure, properly regulated facilities while their cases are determined. Those with valid asylum claims should be treated according to the law, and those with no right to remain should be removed. Instead, we have a system that seems designed to accommodate everyone except the people who are paying for it! I'm not defending violence, rioting or looting. But ignoring public anger, refusing to confront difficult questions and treating legitimate concerns as an inconvenience is a recipe for disaster. THIS IS A DANGEROUS COCKTAIL AND OUR POLITICIANS ARE PLAYING WITH FIRE! Are France and Italy a warning of what's coming to Britain? Is the country becoming a pressure cooker? I'M LEAVING BRITAIN BUT I'LL MISS THESE THINGS! I've had a bellyful of what this country is becoming. But this morning I was reminded that the England I love is still alive and kicking. And I'm bloody furious that we've lost so much of it elsewhere! I'm dog sitting for my daughter in a beautiful little English village.  Took the dog for a walk and everybody said hello. Well, actually, they said hello to the dog. A bloke was repairing an old Cotswold stone wall. The local market was packing up. The pub was opening. People were chatting, smiling and getting on with their lives. Then we got to the funeral directors. The bloody dog sat down outside and refused to move! Why? Because he knew the lady inside would come out, give him a stroke and offer him a biscuit! Even the funeral director knows the dog! THIS IS ENGLAND. NOT SOME NOSTALGIC FANTASY. NOT A PICTURE POSTCARD FROM THE PAST. REAL ENGLAND, HERE AND NOW! And that's what made me angry. Because this sense of community, belonging and shared identity still exists. But we've lost so much of it in our bigger towns and cities. Why? And who's responsible? Then I remembered Labour minister Jenny Riddell-Carpenter linking warm ale, black Labradors and country pubs to what she called a "very far-right nostalgic vision of Britain". What a load of absolute cobblers! Of course, after the backlash, she was suddenly explaining how much she loved pubs and Labradors herself. Well, Jenny, I've got news for you.  THIS ENGLAND DOES EXIST! I'VE JUST WALKED THROUGH IT! And there's nothing racist or far right about loving it, defending it or wanting to bring it back to the parts of Britain where we've lost that sense of community.  The Chinese takeaway owner knows the dog. The Turkish barber waved hello. The African bloke running the coffee shop plays the coolest music this side of Oxford. That's not some government diversity initiative. That's people living together in a community that has a character, a history and a shared sense of belonging.  SURELY ENGLISH CULTURE IS PART OF DIVERSITY TOO?! Why should we be embarrassed about our own traditions? Why should we accept the decline of our high streets, the disappearance of our pubs and the breakdown of communities as inevitable? And why do politicians seem more interested in lecturing us about our attitudes than asking why so many people feel they've lost the country they grew up in? I'm 65. My kids are grown up and I'm off to see the world. I've had enough of the taxes, the lies, the political incompetence and the way Britain is being run. But today I realised something. I'M NOT LEAVING BRITAIN BECAUSE I HATE IT. I'M LEAVING BECAUSE I HATE WHAT'S HAPPENING TO IT!  And the tragedy is that the Britain I love hasn't vanished. It's still here. I've seen it with my own eyes this morning. SO WHY THE HELL CAN'T WE HAVE MORE OF IT? Maybe the answer to all this division isn't another government initiative or another bloody lecture about diversity. Maybe we should start rebuilding communities where people actually know and speak to each other. OR MAYBE THE DOG HELPS! And here's the final irony. WHERE THE HELL IS ANDY BURNHAM?  Borders in chaos. Criminals being released early. Serious questions about policing and national security. Yet where is the Prime Minister actually LEADING FROM THE FRONT? WHERE'S WALLY IS MORE BLOODY VISIBLE!  A written statement from Downing Street isn't leadership. I want to see the Prime Minister standing in front of the British people answering questions and telling us exactly what he is going to DO. Because look at the state we're in. Thousands continue to cross the Channel in small boats. The Home Secretary herself has talked about the horrific sexual violence suffered by women making these journeys. Yet undocumented men are still arriving by dinghy and being allowed into Britain while their identities and asylum claims are processed. HOW CAN ANY GOVERNMENT CALL THAT CONTROL OF OUR BORDERS? Then there are the prisons. CRIMINALS ARE BEING RELEASED EARLY BECAUSE WE HAVEN'T GOT ENOUGH PRISON SPACE! Think about how insane that sounds. A criminal commits an offence. The police catch them. The courts convict them. A judge sentences them. AND THEN ELIGIBLE OFFENDERS ARE RELEASED EARLY BECAUSE THE PRISONS ARE FULL! What about the victims? What about punishment? What about protecting the law-abiding public? At what point did the security of ordinary British people become an afterthought? So perhaps we should just admit defeat: SCRAP THE BORDERS! DEFUND THE POLICE! RELEASE ALL PRISONERS! WE GIVE UP! Of course I'm being sarcastic. I WANT THE EXACT BLOODY OPPOSITE. Control the borders. Identify who is entering our country. Deport people with no right to remain. Give the police the resources and backing to enforce the law. Build enough prison places and make sentences MEAN something. And above all: WHERE'S BURNHAM? Because today it bloody well feels like it.  Trump has pulled the bombers out of Fairford following the suspected terror plot. At Gosport, illegal migrants were brought ashore while angry protesters gathered and police mounted a huge operation.  And here's the image that sums up Britain for me: local residents reportedly having to show ID to get back to their own homes while undocumented migrants were being escorted through by police. Read that again. BRITS SHOWING ID. UNDOCUMENTED MIGRANTS BEING ESCORTED IN.  What kind of upside-down country have we become?  Meanwhile, the Home Secretary herself is talking about the horrific rape, abuse and violence suffered by most women on the migrant routes into the UK. But she still lets the men in?! And the boats keep coming. Then today Dawood Safi — who entered Britain illegally and went on to kill innocent dog walker Wayne Broadhurst — received an indefinite hospital order.  So I want a straight answer: HOW MANY MORE DANGEROUS PEOPLE HAVE ENTERED THIS COUNTRY THROUGH DOVER? How many identities don't we know? How many backgrounds haven't been established? And how the hell can any government guarantee our security when people arrive without the documentation needed to establish who they are?  I've already told you I'm seriously planning to LEAVE BRITAIN. I'm 65. My kids are grown up. I've had enough of being overtaxed, ignored and treated like I'm the problem for asking basic questions about borders and security. But today there's a new question. Am I leaving Britain — or has the British Establishment already left people like me behind? Because from where I'm sitting, the white flag is already fluttering.  Our borders? Lost control. City deny wrongdoing and have appealed. Fine. Let that process run. But if these findings survive the appeal, what punishment could possibly fit them? A fine? DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH. A few points? Is that really enough? I say RELEGATION has to be on the table. But this is about something much bigger than Manchester City. HAS FOREIGN MONEY MADE THE BEAUTIFUL GAME UGLY?
