Episode 110: Resident Evil Requiem Final Preview
2026/01/23
With just over a month away from release, the REP Team take one final look at Resident Evil Requiem following the recent RE Showcase and gameplay reveal. Expect a thorough examination of what was shown with two inventory systems, the gore, possible zapping systems and whether Capcom can nail the tonal shift between Leon and Grace's gameplay. Needless to say theories are thrown out like confetti - will we get one right? STARS TyranT is confident... We also take a look at Resident Evil Survival Unit with a mini review - is this the return to form for biohazard mobile gaming, or should have it just stayed in a supply crate?
Episode 109: Resident Evil 4 & Its Influences
2025/12/21
Following our popular podcast last year of the original trilogy and its impact on the survival horror genre, we return to examine the most influential RE title on the wider gaming industry - Resident Evil 4. 20 years since its original release, the mechanics of the gaming loop have impacted so many titles, that we felt it prudent to take a closer look at the horror games that came after with recommendations and a healthy discussion of other games too. Join Rombie, Neptune, Stars TyranT and a delighted George Trevor as we chat all things Silent Hill, Cold Fear, Dead Space and many more as we bring down our curtain on 20 years of Biohazard4. We are also joined by special guest Brandon Salisbury to celebrate the release of his George Romero documentary whilst teasing up and coming projects with RE alumni.
Episode 108: Resident Evil - The T-Virus
2025/11/23
Welcome to a deep-dive on one of the key lore elements of the entire franchise. The t-virus is what started it all, creating the various zombies and monsters we have all fallen in love with for almost 30 years now. In this episode, we extrapolate the virus from top to bottom, going back to its origins with the Progenitor Virus, then looking at the entire history of Umbrella's t-virus project, discussing all its variants, its properties, and what the goal was behind it all. Also discussed is the Tyrant Project and some of the known t-virus variants that were developed after Umbrella's demise. In the news we look at various Requiem updates and GOG's release of OG Resident Evil 2 and 3, including the concerning quotes that Capcom appear so dismissive of these original classics. Finally Nick gets all excited about Resident Evil: Survival Unit, so much so he's booked time off to play it. Please enjoy.
Episode 107: Happy Birthday Resident Evil 4 Separate Ways
2025/10/25
Released in the United States 20 years to the day, the PS2 version of Resident Evil 4 marked a major first in the Biohazard series - the first subsequent re-release with a major canonical add-on in the form of the wonderful Separate Ways campaign. At the time whilst such a notion greatly annoyed GameCube owners, many saw Separate Way as the extra that "saved the game" in terms of connection to the overall Resident Evil lore. 20 years on, REP once again make their way back to Spain to replay this short and sweet Ada adventure beginning to end. We recount our tales with tips and tricks from various platforms - that is if Neptune does not have any issues playing with a WaveBird controller. News includes the surprising revelation that Switch 2 is getting a Requiem release - as well more updates from Survival Unit - much to STARS TyranT's dismay!
Episode 106: Resident Evil Requiem Demo
2025/09/04
With Capcom building up the hype nicely for Resident Evil 9 at recent gameshows, we thought it would a good idea to discuss the recently released (albeit limited) demo that was made available at Gamescom 2025. To bring some first hand impressions to the table, REP is delighted to have legendary content creator, writer, voice actor and all round biohazard superfan, Suzi the Sphere Hunter join Neptune, Rombie and Astra (Mr. Spencer) in this bonus podcast! Suzi is able to share the time spent exploring this forsaken hospital, the intricacies of the monster (Lisa?), camera angles, ray tracing and tactics that fans can all look forward to when the game drops next year! (Hopefully the demo soon!) A big thanks for Suzi for taking the time to share with us and we hope you enjoy!
Episode 105: Resident Evil Revelations 2 Retrospective
2025/08/13
In what can be described as one of the last canonical spin offs in the Resident Evil series, Revelations 2 is now a decade old - so what better opportunity to return to this hellish island and see how this early PS4/Xbox One title holds up 10 years later.  A known favourite game of George Trevor and most of the team as a whole with credit often being given for bringing horror back to the series. Can Neptune finally get to grips with the controller lay out and does the once fancy episodic release structure actually hinder it in today's market? We look back on this quirky and often campy/b-movie title to see if we can recommend it to new and old players alike. Meanwhile the news is dominated by some non-canon up and comings with Survival Unit and Resident Evil 2: Dead Shot. Enjoy.
Episode 104: Happy Birthday Resident Evil 4
2025/07/10
Has it really been 20 years? 20 years since the sequel that forever changed the series, that became so divisive that it split the fan community, and yet was so groundbreaking it won numerous awards, spawned dozens of imitations and is likely the reason Resident Evil is still going strong to this day? Join the REP crew as we take you through the game from beginning to end, recounting new stories along with old experiences from our first ever playthroughs on the Nintendo Game Cube way back in 2005. What are the best tactics for the village siege? What were the developers on when they designed the castle, and why does the game still endure to this day? In the news we catch up with Resident Evil Requiem updates and the surprise announcement of new mobile game Resident Evil: Survival Unit. Guess who on the team is most excited about that one?
Episode 103: Resident Evil Requiem Reveal
2025/06/10
Finally after what has felt like an endless wait, Capcom have formally announced Resident Evil 9 by debuting a trailer at Summer Games Fest - and boy did it surprise! In a move no one was anticipating, we are returning to the ruins of Raccoon City in a somewhat fitting move as we approach the 30th anniversary of the series. But perhaps even more surprising was the reveal of a new protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, daughter of Alyssa from the Outbreak games! Join us as the REP team dissect the reveal trailer from top to bottom, looking at possible plot points, characters and gameplay speculation. In the news we look at OG Resident Evil 2 and 3 being made available on the Playstation Classics Catalog and we finish off with another edition of Neptune's Biohazard Quiz.
Episode 102: The Future of Resident Evil
2025/03/23
The title says it all! With Resident Evil 9 still someways off, we take this unusually lenghty gap between announcements from Capcom (in fact we think it's the longest in the 30 years of the series) to delve into the possibilities of what is next to come for our favourite horror franchise. Such has been the gap, we have not really done a podcast like this since the pilot and together with comments from our patreons, we examine what could be next both out of universe and from a lore perspective. Yes, this means a re-examination of that REmake train and discussion of the future of spin offs (if any). We have multiple hopes from the fans on what they want to see next too from the lore perspective - a continuation of the Hound Wolf Squad story, more Mia Winters, or perhaps even a prequel with George Trevor - no prizes for guessing which team member that came from! In the news we also examine the now-confirmed Resident Evil movie reboot from Zach Cregger.
Episode 101: Happy Birthday Resident Evil Outbreak File 2: End of the Road
2025/02/11
Welcome all as we bring the curtain down on our year-long Resident Evil Outbreak retrospective. We are down to the last scenario of File 2, the aptly named End of the Road, and battle Hunters, Zombies and a quite relentless Tyrant as we all make a break to escape Raccoon City before the missile (or is is missiles?) drop.  Getting Linda Baldwin to safety can potentially save millions of lives, but does Neptune realise that? What is the best ending? Just how valuable is the remote bomb switch for the Tyrant, and when is the right time to use it? These are just some of the quandaries faced by our team during one last desperate bid to escape.  In a meaty news section we discuss sales figures and the recent rumours about Zach Cregger overseeing the latest reboot of the live action film franchise. Rombie touches on the post-release and future plans of the George Romero Documentary and finally STARS_TyranT gives his thoughts on REVerse following news its servers are going to be shutting down. Please enjoy.
Episode 100: Biohazard STARS 4
2024/12/27
We've made it! 100 episodes proper and what better way to celebrate than with the return of our feature-length Resident Evil themed quiz - Biohazard STARS! Now in its 4th iteration, Neptune hosts the biggest Biohazard STARS yet - a whopping 14 rounds to test your mind and stamina to the very limits. Alongside Neptune is the full REP Team - team captains TheBatman and Rombie are joined by STARS TyranT, George Trevor and the returning Mr. Spencer. Special guest Ploppy54 also joins in on the fun! Who will prove victorious in this ultimate test of Biohazard knowledge and perhaps more importantly can we have over 100 questions without incident? Find out now on all good podcast platforms. You can also play along at home and download the updated Biohazard STARS answer card here⁦: https://residentevilpodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Answercard-BStars.pdf A huge thank you to all our listeners, please enjoy!
Episode 99: Happy Birthday Resident Evil Outbreak File 2: Flashback and Desperate Times
2024/11/29
Our File 2 celebrations continue as this time the REP team head deep into Raccoon Forest to investigate a mystery that has been ongoing since 1993 when Kurt, a reporter from Raccoon City, went mysteriously missing following rumours of illegal goings-on at an old hospital in the mountains. Join us as Neptune comes face to face with Al Lester and his axe, and listen to STARS_TyranT's increasing despair about his team's failure to utilise the auto-aim function when surrounded by wasps. We discuss Flashback's unique setting, the enemies, puzzles and of course a deep-live into the lore and backstory.  Next we make our last stand at the R.P.D. and barricade ourselves inside the famous police station as the zombies close in outside. We discuss all the quirks of this scenario including how it pays respectful homage to the games that came before and revealing a few secrets that enhance the overall experience. This is quintessential Resident Evil and a micro-slice of what makes this series so enduring to this day. Just shut off the nerve gas defence system please... Finally to round things off is the season 8 finale of Neptune's biohazard quiz.
Episode 98: Happy Birthday Resident Evil Outbreak File #2 - Wild Things & Underbelly
2024/10/11
Welcome back to the Raccoon City outbreak, this time with the somewhat overlooked Outbreak File#2 and its first two scenarios - Wild Things & Underbelly. In true REP fashion in these happy birthday podcasts, we take you through each chapter, beginning to end reliving our experiences (and in some cases, demise) both at the undead Raccoon City Zoo and then in the Underground station. How will we all get on and can the addition of a very large stalker enemy and possibly the most annoying enemy in the entire series (the fleas) dampen what is at heart a traditional Resident Evil survival horror experience?  In the news we look at the recent releases of Resident Evil 2 and 3 on the GoG Store whilst shedding some light on some new live action movie rumours for good measure.  Please enjoy!
Episode 97: Resident Evil & Its Influences
2024/08/12
Welcome to a somewhat experimental episode of the Resident Evil Podcast where the team looks back specifically at the original PSX trilogy and the influences in horror gaming that our beloved title drew from. This means an examination of some older horror titles that shaped the industry before Biohazard including Sweet Home, Alone in the Dark and Clock Tower with an analysis on what aspects worked to bring the scares in a low polygon era. We then discuss why Resident Evil was so special and despite perhaps not being the first "survival horror" title (albeit the game that coined the phrased), the OG trilogy in particular became the benchmark in jump scares, tension and cinematic gaming. The conversation then switches to the games that were influenced by Resident Evil - and boy are there many! From the obvious like Dino Crisis and Silent Hill, but also some obscure titles like Deep Fear and Run Like Hell that have really flown under the radar! In the news we also share our thoughts on the recent fan film - The Keeper's Diary and theBatman reveals the creation process for his recent REmake mythology!  Musical credit to WackySB for the incredible remixed save room themes (https://tinyurl.com/ye2acphr) Enjoy!
REP Presents: Resident Evil Afterlife Audio Commentary
2024/07/21
We've held out long enough and today we are back with our audio commentary of the 4th live action Resident Evil movie, Afterlife. With P.W.S Anderson back in the director's chair and fully embracing 3D as well, join Neptune, Rombie and first time viewers of the film, STARS TyranT & George Trevor in this watcha-along.   How does this film stack up some 14 years since release? Can we make any sense of the storyline where Extinction left us and how effective is the use of 3D - Neptune is watching along in 3D for this one for a unique perspective!   As always with these audio commentaries, they are designed to be listened to whilst watching the film. So grab yourself a beverage (you may need one), dust off your old blu ray and strap in as we go into the afterlife...
