S6E12 - The Black Robed Regiment: Samuel Stanhope Smith
2026/02/04
In this week's episode, I continue looking at the pastors known as the Black-Robed Regiment who, through their teaching and preaching, helped solidify and give a moral defense of the American War for Independence. Today I consider Samuel Stanhope Smith, who served as both a professor and President of the College of New Jersey (i.e., Princeton University) in the late 1700s and early 1800s. As such, Pastor Smith exercised an incredible influence over the founding fathers. On this episode, I go over two of his sermons: Religion Necessary to National Prosperity and Patriotism. Those sermons, along with many others, can be found in the two-volume set titled The Sermons of Samuel Stanhope Smith.

2026/02/04
The principal focus of this podcast episode centers on the insidious rise of ethnic Christian nationalism and its implications for the church and society at large. In our discourse, we delineate the troubling intersection of faith and separatism, particularly as it pertains to attitudes towards Israel and the Jewish community. Andrew Rappaport, alongside guest Haps Addison, delves into his personal experiences and observations regarding the alarming rhetoric proliferating within certain Christian circles. They examine the roots of this phenomenon, tracing it back to extremist ideologies that distort the message of Christ and foster division rather than unity. Our aim is to foster a deeper understanding of these issues, encouraging listeners to critically reflect on the narratives they encounter and to uphold the true essence of the Gospel in their lives.
Takeaways:
In this episode, we explore the significant impact of separatism within Christian communities and its potential to foster division among believers. We discuss how the rise of ethnic Christian nationalism poses a grave threat to the essence of the Christian faith and its teachings.Listeners will gain insight into the dangers of conspiracy theories that intertwine with faith, leading to a distorted understanding of Christian identity. The conversation sheds light on the need for a focused commitment to the gospel, emphasizing our identity in Christ over political or ethnic affiliations.
#67 The Precedence of Scripture: Unraveling the Church and God's Word
2026/02/03
The salient point of this podcast episode revolves around the critical inquiry into the relationship between the Word of God and the church. Pastor Anthony Uvenio, a distinguished guest and host of The Reformed Rookie podcast, joins us to explore this pivotal question: which came first, God's Word or the church? We delve into various theological perspectives, particularly contrasting Reformed and Roman Catholic understandings of authority and salvation. Through this discourse, we aim to elucidate the significance of scripture as the ultimate authority in the life of the believer, and the implications of this for our understanding of faith and practice. We invite our listeners to engage deeply with these foundational truths as we seek to affirm the primacy of God's Word in our spiritual journey.
Takeaways:
In the discourse of faith, a pivotal question arises: which was established first, the Word of God or the Church itself?Pastor Anthony Uvinio elucidates the importance of adhering solely to Scripture, emphasizing that divine truth transcends human traditions and interpretations. The discussion highlights the necessity for believers to engage with the Scriptures personally, fostering individual understanding and spiritual growth.Through personal testimonies, we demonstrate that a transformative relationship with Jesus Christ is fundamental to one's faith journey and eternal destiny.

Sanctify Christ as Lord | The Pure in Heart
2026/02/02
Jesus says, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” In Episode 13 of Sanctify Christ as Lord, we explore what purity really means. Not perfection. Not outward performance. But an undivided heart that is honest before God and no longer negotiating terms with Him.
A divided heart clouds spiritual vision, but a heart being cleansed through repentance and surrender begins to see clearly. This episode invites us to let God deal truthfully with our inner life, trusting that when our loyalties are no longer split, His presence becomes unmistakably visible.

Be Fruitful and Multiply: Procreation, Discipleship, and Faith in a Changing Culture
2026/02/02
Episode number is 240 of The Truth Response.
What does it truly mean for Christians to “be fruitful and multiply” in today’s world? Is it about population growth, spiritual discipleship, or something deeper that the church has struggled to articulate clearly?
In this episode, the conversation explores both the physical and spiritual dimensions of fruitfulness. The discussion addresses cultural fears, the role of family, and the call to make disciples—not just converts—while trusting God’s sovereignty over the rise and fall of cultures. Rather than measuring success by numbers alone, the focus returns to authentic faith and Spirit-formed lives.
Clarity in chaos. Bringing hope to a chaotic world.
This episode invites believers to think biblically, live faithfully, and embrace a holistic understanding of fruitfulness rooted in obedience, trust, and hope.
Examining Bethel | When Power Shapes Jesus (Pt. 1)
2026/02/01
When Power Shapes Jesus (Part 1)
In this episode of the Bold Apologia Podcast, we begin a careful, page-by-page examination of Chapter 2 of Bill Johnson’s “When Heaven Invades Earth.” Building on the previous episode, When Power Becomes the Measure, this conversation focuses on how a power-driven framework begins to reshape Christology itself. We examine the claim that Jesus performed miracles “not as God, but as man,” and we ask whether the biblical texts used to support that claim actually say what they’re being asked to say.
Part 1 works through the first part of the chapter with direct quotations, careful exegesis, and historic Christological categories. This is not a reactionary critique, but a disciplined theological analysis that asks a simple question with serious implications: when power becomes the standard, does Scripture still govern our understanding of Jesus, or does it get reinterpreted to protect expectations?

#66 End Abortion Now: A Call to Action with Zachary Conover
2026/01/31
Our discourse with Zachary Conover, the esteemed Director of Communications for End Abortion Now, illuminates the profound and urgent imperative to confront the moral crisis of abortion with unwavering resolve and a gospel-centered approach. Recorded at the G3 Conference in Atlanta on September 22, 2023, this episode delves into the genesis and mission of End Abortion Now, a ministry birthed from a fervent desire to advocate for the sanctity of life and to proclaim the transformative power of Christ's forgiveness in the midst of such darkness. Conover articulates the necessity of moving beyond mere theoretical discussions of pro-life advocacy to engage actively in compassionate outreach at abortion clinics, thereby embodying the gospel in practical ways. Through a candid exploration of the challenges faced and the victories won, we are called to reassess our roles as Christians in this societal battle, emphasizing that it is not merely a political issue but a profound spiritual one that demands our faithful action and fervent prayer. Join us as we contemplate the implications of our faith in addressing this critical issue and the imperative of bringing the light of the gospel into the darkest corners of our communities.
Takeaways:
The inception of End Abortion Now was rooted in a profound love for the lost and a desire to extend the church's pro-life commitment beyond the confines of its walls. In practical evangelism, we must bring the gospel to the darkest places, such as abortion clinics, to effectively minister to those in need. The importance of equipping the local church to engage in sidewalk ministry cannot be overstated, as it is a direct response to the moral crisis of abortion.Through consistent faithfulness and the proclamation of God's Word, we can be assured that spiritual fruit will manifest, even if it remains unseen in the present moment. As we advocate against abortion, we must emphasize the need for justice and the gospel, recognizing that both the mother and the child deserve the truth of Christ's forgiveness. In our efforts to end abortion, we should engage with legislative processes, challenging local authorities to uphold Biblical justice and protect the lives of the preborn.

2026/01/30
This episode of Apologetics Live delves into the profound and pressing topic of Jewish hatred, particularly within certain segments of the evangelical community. We examine how this troubling sentiment has gained traction and its implications for both Christianity and interfaith relations. The discussion is anchored by a critical analysis of figures such as Joel Webbin, who has been accused of fostering an environment that perpetuates anti-Semitic rhetoric while simultaneously asserting a Christian identity.
We seek to illuminate the dangers of such ideologies and the necessity for Christians to confront and denounce any form of hatred, especially against the Jewish people. Our goal is to encourage a thoughtful, biblically grounded response to these issues, emphasizing the importance of unity and truth within the body of Christ. As we navigate this complex landscape, we invite listeners to join us in this vital conversation about faith, culture, and the responsibilities we bear as believers.
The discussion presented in this episode of Apologetics Live centers on the contentious and often polarizing topic of Jewish hatred within certain factions of the Christian community. Andrew Rappaport, alongside his guests, examines the implications of rising antisemitic sentiment in contemporary discourse. The conversation highlights the alarming trend where individuals, previously aligned with orthodox Christian values, have begun to espouse views that are not only critical of the Jewish state of Israel but also perpetuate harmful stereotypes against Jewish people as a whole. This episode serves as a clarion call for Christians to recognize and confront these insidious ideologies that threaten the unity and integrity of the faith. Rappaport emphasizes the necessity for biblical discernment and the importance of standing firmly against all forms of hatred, particularly those that seek to divide the body of Christ based on ethnicity or national identity.
The episode is not merely a critique; it also offers a pathway to understanding, urging listeners to engage in meaningful dialogue and uphold the tenets of love and respect that Christ exemplified. The presence of guests such as Pastor Seth and Pastor Jeff enriches the discussion, providing varied perspectives that underscore the urgency of addressing these issues within the church and society at large.
