WILD & ABANDONED
NEW PODCAST EPISODE
This is about breaking in to private property and re-living memories... Kids: don't do it, and if you do, be careful. Even better: take someone with you. A little outtake:"And then I see bricks. A wall. A house. Or let's say: once upon a time, it was the most stunning house I knew. But now, it was a ruin. I stand in front of a crumbling and abandoned house. Every glass facade and window is shattered, and the pieces of glass lie everywhere. I see graffiti, I walk over beer cans and a dirty brown sofa, and all I hear is the glass under my shoes, cracking. This makes me nervous because if someone is here, they can hear me. My heart is beating fast. I know I am doing something I shouldn't do, but I am most excited to be there anyway. So I have a nice mixture of hormones going through my body." Enjoy a few minutes of time-travelling.If you have any similar stories, please feel free to share them. NEW PODCAST EPISODE
Here is a little outtake from the latest podcast episode: "When your body speaks, there are no thoughts needed. It's when the intellect is at rest. When intuition is on, we are connected to the subconscious. Just imagine this link—a connection we can utilize.Albert Einstein once said: "The intuitive mind is a sacred gift, and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honours the servant and has forgotten the gift."Intuition brings us not just creative power but also understanding about one self. We underestimate intuition often, and we might question it far too often. We love to believe our mind, the reason, but less our guts. But our guts are also linked to experience and reasoning. So, yes, we can question it if we have to, but even better: let's try to trust our intuition a bit more."Enjoy and let me know how you like it. NOVEMBER: smartphone management
Hi, I'm Anna Jelen and I love all the advantages of the internet, apps and smartphones. One of them is, to be connected with you guys. I love this and I appreciate it. But I have quite a severe management of the digital world. And how was I able to reduce smartphone-screen time down to 15 minutes per day, I'll tell you a lot about it on my latest podcast episode. Listen to it and let me know what you think. A little outtake:"If I want to create content that shall be good enough to ask you to have a look at my work, I want it to be valuable and creative. That's where I need my creativity to come into the game. My creativity only shows up when I am present. When I am in the analogue world. Every screen shoos away my creativity. To protect the world of imagination, I limit my digital time. What do I do instead? I love to read for a long stretch. Sometimes, when I have a day off, I take a book, lie on my sofa, and read the whole afternoon. In your eyes may be a waste of time, but god, I love it. Sometimes, I just sit around. And I sit and think, and it's soooooo interesting, what kind of thoughts show up. Oh boy, this as well; I love it. Sometimes, I make a fire outside because that makes me so happy to stand or sit there and watch it burn and think or maybe talk to the others who are there with me. Doing all this, my creativity never leaves me; she is always there, listening. And sometimes, she comes up with an idea and gives it to me. And that is why I need to be present and can't spend too much time in the digital world." Enjoy the whole episode, it takes only 13 minutes to listen. My dear one, it's the last day of the year 2021. It's been a ride. Many people out there hope or wish for the next year to be better. I don't know if I would look at it that way. I tell myself, just continue. Continue to be curious. Continue to ENJOY - I love that word. Continue to love, to smile, to be here.I wish you a peaceful and healthy start into the new year. I will be back tomorrow with lesson number 12, I wanted this lesson to be the first episode of 2022, because it's about life.So long, farewell. Goodbye and a happy new year! OCTOBER: titles and identity
Hi, I'm Anna Jelen, and I am a .... well, what am I? It was in October when my self-doubts almost got me to the ground. Do you know why? Because I thought I didn't own my titles anymore. And I had many! I was The Time Expert. I was a keynote speaker. And I was a podcaster. But a lot had happened last year, and suddenly I thought: Is the name time expert out of date? I had not given a speech in 1.5 years due to Corona; was I still a keynote speaker? And I was not too fond of the title podcaster. On a long walk in the Swedish woods, I understood: there is work to do Annapanna. Are we having an identity problem here? That's when I started to work on this topic and today I publish this lesson learned about titles and identity. A little outtake: "So there we are, back to the titles. What is my conclusion? It's about the balance. Job titles can be important for some of us; they can support and outline what we do. They can give us a kind of direction. And I think to some amount, we have to accept to be conditioned by titles, labels and tags. And I know how it feels when the ego gets a title it likes. It makes you grow an inch taller, and it might help you with your confidence. But I would try never to forget the question: "At the end of the day, does it matter?" I see that I am happy and liberated since I do not overthink this title stuff. I know who I am without any titles. But my self-reflection on this topic was so important to be more confident with my identity, even when titles fall away or become obsolete - there might be new ones as well. We should never stop asking: Who am I right now." Enjoy the whole episode, it takes only 10 minutes to listen. Let me know what you think about this. Cheers, AnnA By the way; please subscribe to the Newsletter and in the future, you will get all the audio versions also in written form.

SEPTEMBER: talk to strangers
Hi, I'm Anna, and I like to talk to strangers. I have had some fascinating encounters and interactions. Sometimes it touches only the surface, sometimes it goes deeper - but in any case it leaves a trace of satisfaction. A little outtake: "I just googled it: talk to strangers. In no time, I was in a chat room where strangers chat to each other online. 2 seconds in, the question "any naughty girls in here?" shows up.Oh well, I stopped the research because I couldn't be further away from the place I wanted to talk about. Where you can see each other. Where you can smell the other person. Observe mimics and gestures. I mean trains, coffee places, cash desks, waiting rooms, hospitals, outside on a promenade or standing in a queue somewhere. The last time I had a chat with a stranger was a few days ago in a locker room after swimming. But before I take you there, let's go back to the end of last summer: We had a team golf tournament in the french part of Switzerland. We are six players. One of my best friends is one of them. After playing, the two of us took the chance to go and have a drink. Now she will tell you that what happened that day happens to me all the time: a stranger will appear out of nowhere, and we will have the most interesting conversations about life, love, death, society, art and of course, about TIME. We will arrive at a point where our heads spin because they have been fed with new ideas and perspectives, and then the stranger will say something like: "I think it's time to digest this conversation." And they will be gone - plop, and maybe one day I will get a letter or a message saying: I am not sure if you remember me, but in the year 2021, we met in Yverdon, and we talked about time and HUMANS - as he called his topic. And I will be reading this and thinking: how could I forget?" I encourage you to go and listen to the whole episode to get a "how to talk to strangers" tip.It takes 10 minutes to listen. Link is in bio and let me know what you think about this. Cheers, AnnA By the way; please subscribe to the Newsletter and in the future, you will get all the audio versions also in written form.

AUGUST: about winning and losing
Hi, I'm Anna, and I'm here with maybe the most important lesson I have learned so far. A little outtake: "The problem I see is that we live in a world where performance stands extremely high. And pleasure comes after the performance. We could almost say that we live in a pleasure-negative culture. Driven by high expectations and constantly producing and trying to be even more productive. Our culture values goals. And we must at all costs progress to those goals. Pleasure comes afterwards. Often only as a reward if we have achieved something. In my eyes, that is so wrong. We don't need to earn pleasure. Pleasure is a value we need! Pleasure keeps our bodies, minds, relationships and spirits healthy.Life isn't about winning or losing. It's about keeping the joy in what we do. We are entitled to have pleasure in our life. I would even say; it's a necessity." ENJOY whatever you do. And take care. JULY: don't do what others expect you to do
Hi, this is Anna, and I'm here with the lesson learned, number 7, which is about breaking the concept of doing things that others expect you to do. I'm sure most of you have heard about the book that Bronnie Ware, a nurse in a terminal palliative care unit, wrote in 2013. It was a book about regrets. She interviewed her patients in their last days to uncover their regrets. I worked as a product manager for over ten years, selling breast prostheses to women with breast cancer. Fortunately, many women survive and beat breast cancer. But not all do. I was close to some of them, and they would call me to ask me to come and visit one last time. I was only in my twenties, and those farewells were hard on me. But these women taught me about life. Bronnie Ware was right about the regrets of the dying. Two of them I would like to mention today. The first is: I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.The second is: I wish that I had let myself be happier. A little outtake: "Say that phrase: I wish that I had let myself be happier. Imagine saying this at the end of your life. But today, it isn't. Your life goes on. Today is one day out of your life, and you could try it. What do you need to do to be happy today without changing your plans? Are you at work? What could make you happy? Order a fancy meal for lunch? Have a cup of coffee with a colleague? Call your favourite client and thank them for the excellent collaboration? These are just small steps. The significant steps are the questions about your work, relationships, health concepts, and activities. Are you at the right place, or are you one day going to regret that you did not change the situation you are in right now?" Adios amigos, until tomorrow with lesson no. 8, about winning and losing. By the way; please subscribe to the Newsletter and in the future, you will get all the audio versions also in written form.

JUNE: no promises
Hi, I'm Anna and I don't make promises, because I'm afraid I could break them. And somehow it just does not feel good to say: "I promise." So I have stopped saying it. Feels better. :-) A little outtake: "The definition of the word promise is the following: A promise is a statement telling someone that you will definitely do something or that something will definitely happen in the future. Doesn't sound good for me. The word definitely is used twice in that definition and represents a 100% guarantee. I know it doesn't sound romantic if I say: "There is a possibility that I will love you for a long time." But that is more decent than to say: I will love you forever even though this does sound beautiful. Is the reason we say "I promise" to provide more power to what we are saying? It's a strong word. I have learned to make a difference between what is within my power and what is not. If I make a promise to someone, I assume that I can control that action. But do I have a guarantee that this is the case?"Wishing you a lovely second Christmas day. Wherever you are, I wish you a lovely day. Relax. Sing. Dance. Paint. Cook or watch your favourite movie. I feel it should be a day that does you good. Until tomorrow when I am back with lesson no 7, which I enjoy immensely, it's about winning and losing. Uhhh... Take care, bye-bye. MAY: about SAYING NO
Hi, it's me, Anna and I say no to many things and people, and this has never been a problem for me. I'm good at it. One reason is that I honour the things and people I am saying yes to. So I protect my YESSSES by saying no to the rest. But maybe, I'm saying no too rashly sometimes.... which means too fast. Too hasty. And maybe, I'm a bit too radical with my NO's sometimes... I learned this in May 2021. A little outtake: "My dear ones out there, here comes lesson No 5, that saying no to almost everything does not always turn out as good as it's excepted to be. It's a short one, but that is because someone called Anna Jelen spontaneously decided on Monday to write one lesson learned per day for the next 12 days, and I did not think two inches further, for example, that this will also mean, when all the others are celebrating Christmas, I will be writing. The good thing is, you know I love doing this. But today, it's a shorter piece.I have read many articles, books and listened to successful people who all preach: say yes to one thing and no to absolutely everything else. And for sure, writers do! They all do it! So, of course, I would also do it, and I did. In April, I decided to say no to almost everything to work on my book. I tapped myself on the shoulder, and I was proud.I thought that this would bring me peace and space for my creativity, but it only brought me confusion and disorientation."Listen to why I felt like that. Enjoy and: MERRY CHRISTMAS! Dance on tables! My dear reader and listeners, please subscribe to the Newsletter and in the future, you will get all the audio versions also in written form. Take care and have a good day.Yours, AnnA

12 LESSONS LEARNED IN 2021
APRIL: about MOUTH TAPING
Today, it's about a special sleep habit: to tape your mouth so that you breath through your nose during sleep. A little outtake: "You might ask, why do people do this, well, some may try mouth taping because they believe that forcing themselves to breathe through the nose can avoid negative effects associated with mouth breathing. Meaning it could dry out your gums and the tissue and this can change the natural bacteria in your mouth leading to gum disease or tooth decay, to give you an example. To breath through the nose has so many advantages: it helps filter out dust and allergens, boost your oxygen uptake, humidify the air you breath in, it increases air flow to arteries, veins and nerves, it improves the lung volume and if you believe it or not, but it supports the correct formation of teeth and mouth. Some claim mouth taping eases various problems, such as fatigue, concentration issues, bad breath, dry mouth and excessive thirst at night. If you snore, it can, but does not have to, effectively treat you because when you tape the mouth, it stays closed, and it changes the angle of the palate and the tongue. All this has not been scientifically studied. But the mentioned advantages of nose breathing arouse interest. And the mouth taping is one of the tools. I would suggest this if you are interested in testing this: tape your mouth during the day to get a feeling."In this episode I tell you WHY I started doing this - it's only 10 minutes long. Have fun!My dear reader and listeners, please subscribe to the Newsletter and in the future, you will get all the audio versions also in written form. Take care and have a good day.Yours, AnnA

MARCH: about ICE BATHS
Today, it's about something I do all year round. It's about the nice cold ice baths. A little outtake: "One of the lessons learned is the following:In my life, I usually want to enjoy the process. I don't think about the result. I focus on the process. But when I do the ice bath, it is the contrary. Imagine it's cold outside. Like minus 15° / 5 Fahrenheit. And your hands and feet are already out. And your body is wrapped in a nice thick coat - and now: take it off. All of your clothes. Take the axe and break that ice. And now, get into the water. That's when your brain could say: I don't like you.But then I tell my brain: think about the result. You know how it is. You will get high; you will be all euphoric, okay, the body has tons of work to do heating up the system, but gets rewarded with spaghettis, so come on - let's do this. And then I go.Lesson learned: for once, I have to focus on the result to be able to do the process.Another lesson learned: not only my body but also my brain does a lot for a plate of spaghetti."Enjoy listening to the full episode - only 10 minutes long. Have fun!My dear reader and listeners, please subscribe to the Newsletter and in the future, you will get all the audio versions also in written form. Take care and have a good day.Yours, AnnA
