Josh Pate Says Ohio State's Season Is Over Without Julian Sayin
2026/10/22
Josh Pate says Ohio State will miss the College Football Playoff without Julian Sayin. In this video, Zach Smith and Kris Drew react to his take, and you can hear for yourself whether they agree with him. Is it a fair read on the Buckeyes, or an overreaction to a backup quarterback situation?
Sayin hurt his throwing arm in Ohio State's 19-15 win at Indiana on Oct. 17. Ryan Day said Oct. 20 that Sayin is out "indefinitely" and gave no timeline. ESPN reported that Ohio State plans to play the rest of the season without him, and Day said, "We're going to play the guy that gives us the best chance to win." Luke Fahey and Tavien St. Clair are the options, and both are getting reps during the bye week before the Buckeyes play at USC on Oct. 31.
As reported, Pate said on the Rich Eisen Show that he expects Ohio State to lose at least three games and miss the playoff, and he questioned whether the running game improves with Fahey.
In this video:
Josh Pate's take on Ohio State's season without Julian Sayin
What Ryan Day has actually said about Sayin's status
Luke Fahey, Tavien St. Clair and the backup quarterback question
Does Ohio State's path to the playoff still exist?
Zach Smith and Kris Drew give their own opinions

Julian Sayin's Alleged Elbow Surgery Changes Everything
2026/10/21
Julian Sayin's Alleged Elbow Surgery Changes Everything
Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin is out "indefinitely," Ryan Day said Tuesday, and the Buckeyes are now planning for him to miss the rest of the regular season. Day also said the team is putting together a plan in case Sayin can't return this fall at all. What hasn't been confirmed is any diagnosis or surgery: as of Oct. 21, Ohio State has not announced either. Luke Fahey has been ahead of Tavien St. Clair, but both get reps during the bye week before Ohio State plays at No. 16 USC on Oct. 31.
Zach Smith and Kris Drew break down what the surgery talk could mean for Sayin's recovery, for his future at Ohio State, and for a Buckeyes season that now runs through the quarterback room. Watch to hear where they land.
In this video:
Ryan Day's Tuesday update: "out indefinitely" and the plan for the regular season and postseason
The surgery question: what's confirmed, what isn't, and why it matters
What a throwing-arm injury can mean for a quarterback's timeline
Luke Fahey vs. Tavien St. Clair during the bye week
What the Buckeyes need to do offensively at USC and the rest of the schedule
What it means for the Big Ten race and the playoff

The Real Reason Julian Sayin Got Hurt
2026/10/20
The Real Reason Julian Sayin Got Hurt
Ohio State beat Indiana 19-15, but the bigger story was Julian Sayin leaving in the fourth quarter. He was sacked just past midfield, fumbled, went to the locker room and came out with his right arm in a sling. Ryan Day says Sayin will be out "at the least several weeks," and Ohio State is still going through testing. The Buckeyes are off this week, then play at USC on Oct. 31.
What actually happened on that play? Zach Smith and Kris Drew go through the film to look at the protection, the pocket and the read, and how the injury came about. Watch to see what they found.
In this video:
The play: Indiana's sack, the fumble and the collision with Sayin's throwing arm
Ryan Day's latest on the injury and the timeline
The protection, the pocket and the read on the snap
What the film shows about how it happened
What the injury means for Ohio State at USC and beyond

Julian Sayin Is Out. Now It's Fahey Or St. Clair.
2026/10/19
Julian Sayin Is Out. Now It's Fahey Or St. Clair.
Ohio State beat Indiana 19-15 to end the Hoosiers' 22-game win streak, but the bigger story came in the fourth quarter. Julian Sayin was sacked, fumbled, left the field and returned with his arm in a sling. Ryan Day says Sayin will be out "several weeks." Redshirt freshman Luke Fahey replaced him against Indiana, and five-star Tavien St. Clair, the Bellefontaine, Ohio, product, is on the roster too. Ohio State now has a bye week before it travels to USC on Oct. 31.
Zach Smith and Kris Drew break down what Sayin's injury means for the Buckeyes. Watch to hear where they land on the Fahey vs. St. Clair question.
In this video:
What happened on the Sayin play against Indiana
Ryan Day's update: "several weeks" and what he said about "a plan there"
Luke Fahey: his role this season and his snaps against Indiana
Tavien St. Clair: the five-star recruit and the first Ohio high school QB to sign with Ohio State since Joe Burrow
The schedule ahead: bye week, then USC (Oct. 31), then Oregon, Northwestern, Nebraska and Michigan
Zach Smith and Kris Drew's takes on who should get the call
The facts: Ohio State 19, Indiana 15 (Oct. 17, 2026). Sayin's injury is described as a right arm/shoulder injury, and Ohio State has not announced a starter for USC.

2026/10/15
Is Legend Bey about to get his shot against Indiana? In this video:
• What Ryan Day said about Legend Bey's progress and his hope for "another good week"

Isaiah Jones Says Indiana Won't Let Jeremiah Smith Beat Them
2026/10/14
Indiana linebacker Isaiah Jones has a message for Jeremiah Smith and Ohio State: "We're not gonna let you beat us with the guy that's been torching the rest of the country." With the Buckeyes heading to Bloomington this Saturday, Zach Smith and Kris Drew on Menace2Sports break down what Jones said, how Indiana plans to slow down the most productive receiver in the Big Ten, and whether the Hoosiers can actually pull it off.
In this video:
• What Isaiah Jones said about Jeremiah Smith and how Indiana plans to defend him
• Why Indiana wants to bracket Smith's side of the field and stop the run first
• Jeremiah Smith's numbers this season: he leads the Big Ten in catches, yards and touchdowns, including 12 catches for 217 yards and four touchdowns against Illinois
• Indiana's defense, which has missed 11 tackles against Nebraska
• What Ryan Day said about Smith drawing double and triple coverage
• How Ohio State can still win if Indiana takes Smith away
Jones is a senior linebacker from London, Ohio. He grew up an Ohio State fan, his father D.J. Jones played tight end for the Buckeyes, and he recorded two sacks against Ohio State in last year's Big Ten Championship Game.

Kyle Whittingham Is Blaming Bryce Underwood
2026/10/13
Is Kyle Whittingham pinning Michigan's struggles on Bryce Underwood? Menace2Sports breaks down Whittingham's comments about his quarterback, why the hosts think Underwood is taking the heat, and whether the Michigan coaching staff deserves just as much of the blame.
In this video:
• What Whittingham has said about Underwood since the opener, including "It's not infinite. At some point, we've got to turn the corner"
• Michigan's 20-14 loss at Minnesota, where Underwood went 10-of-21 for 101 yards and threw two interceptions
• Why the hosts see a pattern in how Whittingham talks about his quarterback
• How much of the problem sits with the offense and the play-calling, not just Underwood
• What true freshman Tommy Carr means for the QB room
• What Michigan's 3-2 start means for Whittingham's first season
Whittingham said Monday that Underwood remains the starter, with Jason Beck continuing as offensive coordinator and play-caller, and Michigan hosts Penn State this Saturday. The "blame" framing here is the Menace2Sports hosts' interpretation, not a claim that Whittingham has said Underwood is at fault.

Ryan Day Told Julian Sayin That Jeremiah Smith Is Always Open
2026/10/07
Ryan Day told Julian Sayin exactly how he wants Jeremiah Smith treated: "If he's single-covered, he's open. If he's double-covered, he's sort of open. If he's triple-covered, he's covered." That message lands after Smith torched No. 14 Iowa for 11 catches, 206 yards and two touchdowns in Ohio State's 31-14 win, and it raises a big question heading into Maryland: is Sayin forcing the ball to Smith, or is that simply the right way to play? We break it down, from the Ohio State records Smith is stacking up to the Heisman race and what it means for the rest of the Buckeyes offense.
In this video:
- Ryan Day's full message to Julian Sayin about throwing to Jeremiah Smith
- Smith's 11-catch, 206-yard, two-touchdown game against Iowa
- How Smith became Ohio State's all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards and touchdown catches
- Why Smith is the Heisman favorite, and where Julian Sayin fits in that race
- Whether Ohio State's other receivers can get open when Smith draws the coverage

Michigan's Locker Room Is Leaking Text Messages
2026/10/06
Michigan's locker room is leaking text messages, and it's getting ugly in Ann Arbor. Screenshots allegedly showing a Michigan group chat have surfaced, with the author reportedly criticizing offensive coordinator Jason Beck, the offensive scheme, and the staff, right after the Wolverines fell to 0-2 in the Big Ten with a 20-14 loss to Minnesota. We break down what's been alleged, what hasn't been confirmed, and what it means for Kyle Whittingham's program.
In this video:
- What the leaked Michigan group chat allegedly says about Jason Beck and the offense
- Why the messages are attributed to tight end Zack Marshall, and what Michigan has (and hasn't) confirmed
- The "worse than the Sherrone Moore era" comparison and why it stings
- How Michigan's offense looked against Minnesota, and Whittingham's "results are unacceptable" response
- What leaks like this say about the state of the Michigan locker room
- Whether Michigan's bye week brings "tough decisions" on the offense
Note: the screenshots were posted on social media on October 6, 2026. Michigan has not confirmed they are authentic, so everything attributed to the messages is alleged.

Jeremiah Smith Took Chris Olave's Last Record
2026/10/05
Jeremiah Smith just passed Chris Olave. In Ohio State's 31-14 statement win at Kinnick Stadium, Smith hauled in his 36th career touchdown catch to take the Buckeyes' all-time receiving touchdown record from Olave (35), then broke Emeka Egbuka's career receptions record on the same afternoon with an 11-catch, 206-yard, two-touchdown performance. We break down how Smith did it, what it means for his Heisman case, and how Ohio State's defense answered every question about the run game by holding Iowa to just 39 rushing yards, the fewest the Hawkeyes have managed since 2005.
In this video:
- Jeremiah Smith breaks Chris Olave's Ohio State career receiving touchdown record with TD No. 36, and why the "last Olave record" milestone matters
- Smith becomes the first Buckeye ever with back-to-back 200-yard receiving games, one week after his four-touchdown, 217-yard night against Illinois
- How Matt Patricia's defense bounced back after the Illinois rushing breakdown and shut down Iowa's ground game at Kinnick Stadium
- Ja'Kobi Jackson's first start: 72 rushing yards on 14 carries and a touchdown
- Ohio State's first ranked road win of the season and first win at Kinnick Stadium since 2010, as the Buckeyes move to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Big Ten
- What this win means heading into the rest of Ohio State's October schedule and the Heisman race

Kirk Ferentz Is Going To Run At Matt Patricia All Day
2026/10/02
Kirk Ferentz knows exactly what he's doing, and Ohio State just handed him the blueprint. After allowing 199 rushing yards to Illinois — including 113 to a single running back — the Buckeyes' defensive line walks into Kinnick Stadium against the deepest, most physical rushing attack in the Big Ten. We break down why Iowa is going to run the ball at Matt Patricia's defense over and over and over again on Saturday, whether Ohio State's run defense can fix its gap discipline in time, and what it means for the Buckeyes' playoff hopes if it can't.
In this video:
- Why Iowa's four 100-yard rushers (Kamari Moulton, Braden Jackson, Xavier Williams, Nathan McNeil) make this the toughest run-game test Ohio State has faced all year
- Kenyatta Jackson Jr.'s blunt admission that the Illinois performance was "unacceptable" — and what has to change
- Ryan Day's warning that "all it takes is one guy to be out of a gap" against this Iowa offensive line
- How Matt Patricia and Larry Johnson are adjusting the defensive gameplan after Sunday film study
- Why Iowa's own stout run defense (87.8 YPG, 3rd in the Big Ten) means Ohio State can't just abandon the ground game either
- Our prediction for how this trenches battle decides Saturday's game in Iowa City
