The creators of the feminist noir comedy Deadloch, Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan, join Pop Queers for our last episode of the year! Described as Broadchurch but funny, and set it Tasmania, Deadloch is the whodunit of the season. The Kates join us ahead of the much-anticipated finale which arrives tomorrow! Deadloch is streaming now on Prime Video. Zoë Coombs Marr takes on Colin Lane with special guest scorekeeper Susannah ‘Motty’ Mott! Zoë makes her return to Pop Queers ahead of her performance of The Opener at Comedy Republic on the 27th of July. You can also catch her learning about the untold queer history of Australia in Queerstralia, available now on ABC iView. Colin is one half of Australia’s favourite comedy duo, Lano and Woodley. You can rewatch The Adventures of Lano & Woodley on Binge. Motty joins us once again, but this time she’s walking away from the role of contestant to be our special guest scorekeeper! Motty is the series producer of Have You Been Paying Attention on Channel 10 and is a founding member of Joy’s Chicks Talking Footy.

Andrew Patterson takes on Yon! In Yon’s six-episode podcast series Minuscule Musical you can hear him singing short and original musicals written and performed with guests such as Jude Perl, Gillian Cosgriff and Sammy J. You can also catch Yon as one third of musical comedy trio Tripod at the Theatre Royal in Hobart on Friday 30th of June as part of the Festival of Voices. Andrew is currently working on And Juliet and The Rocky Horror Show as a fill-in keyboard player and conductor. He’s also a part of the Taxithi Project performing Greek entechno music of the 60s, 70s and 80s. You can catch the Taxithi Project at the Open Studio, Northcote, on Wednesday 28th June.  

Fiona Scott-Norman and Alicia Sometimes both make their long-awaited returns to Pop Queers! Last time Fiona was on Pop Queers, her book This Chicken Life was hot off the presses. She now returns off the back of another huge success with her new book Hard Knocks which is out now! Alicia also makes her return to Pop Queers! You can catch her talking footy on the Outer-Sanctum Podcast or go see her art installation at Science Gallery Melbourne’s upcoming exhibition Dark Matters.

Anthony Campbell takes on co-star and husband Tim Campbell! They are currently touring together for the first time with their show Up Close and Unpredictable. Ali McGregor takes on Steven ‘Gatesy’ Gates! Ali McGregor is cabaret performer, musician, and principal soprano who returns to the show ahead of her Friday, 26 May, performance at Hamer Hall with the MSO. Gatesy is a musician, actor, and comedian who you might know as one third of the musical comedy trio Tripod who will be performing at the Festival of Voices in Tasmania, June 30.

Everyone’s getting dressed up for Pop Queers this week as we’re joined by Annie Social and Amanduh! See Annie Social performing at Pride of our Footscray on Saturday June 3rd where you can also catch weekly Drag Bingo and Piano Bar with Amanduh.

With the Comedy Festival nearing its end, we’ve managed to wrangle two more stars of the festival with Jenny Tian taking on Bronwyn Kuss! Jenny Tian is performing her debut Melbourne International Comedy Festival show Picture This at Trades Hall until April 23. Jenny also stars in the web series Coach Dayum and you can follow her on TikTok as @nomnomjenny. Bronwyn Kuss returns to the Comedy Festival after a very successful 2022 outing that saw her take home the Directors’ Choice Award. This year you can catch her performing her new show Sounds Good at the Western Hotel until April 23.

Australian vocal superstars and sister duo Vika and Linda Bull go head-to-head this week on Pop Queers! Their new memoir No Bull is out now in stores and on their website. They’re also touring all over Australia including Jacobs Well, Sandstone Point, and Narre Warren so check out their schedule to see when they’ll be coming near you!

It’s a UK comedy special on Pop Queers with Jordan Gray taking on Larry Dean! Jordan Gray is performing her world-famous musical comedy show Is it a Bird? at the Melbourne Town Hall until the 23rd of April. Larry Dean has brought his show FUDNUT back to Melbourne after a sold out run in 2022, performing at the Swiss Club until the 23rd of April.  

This week on Pop Queers, Reuben Kaye takes on Michelle Brasier! Reuben Kaye is Live and Intimidating at the Arts Centre Melbourne until April 23. Michelle Brasier is performing Legacy at the Comedy Republic and Melbourne Town Hall until April 23.

Jane Clifton takes on Aurelia St Clair! Aurelia is a comedian, writer, podcaster and Melbourne International Comedy Festival regular. They’ll be performing their new show Non-Dairy Presenting at Trades Hall from the 30th of March to the 23rd of April. Jane is a showbiz all-rounder and favourite of Australian stage and screen. You can catch her gigging regularly at Claypots Evening Star in South Melbourne and keep an eye out for her upcoming Memoir of a Very Civil Celebrant.
