Lads, what is happening! Hope you all had a fantastic Paddy's day! I am back. After a few weeks away from the mic and jet setting around the globe for my best mate's wedding over in Central America. I have returned. And I have missed yous dearly. Thank you all so much for be patient with us during the break. I really appreciate the messages and the shares etc.. but we're finally back and buzzing! We kick things off as per the roster with Steven and in this one we treat this more of a catch up episode. Lads, what is happening! Hope you all had a fab weekend. It was absolutely glorious to be back sharing the mic with Aoife once again! Bit of an interesting one for yous though this week; Unfortunately due to hectic schedules we've been finding it hard to link up. So we found a small gap on Saturday that worked for the both of us, so we decided to go au naturale for this one and just shotgun it. However it's not all just random, free flow chat. I do whip out a topic towards the end that I had prepared from a rabbit hole that I got lost down the other night which is relating to children remembering their past lives! So very out there lol! I think I'll probably do another dedicated episode on that topic though at some point. But for now it was good to at least get a little bit into it with Aoife who ordinarily I wouldn't really do anything like that with. Overall I think yous will enjoy the tempo of this one, lot of zigs and zags and for those of you do enjoy the tangents you will not be let down 😅 Anyway guys thats all from me, thanks for much for all the support recently. THE LADS™️ are back with their first installment of 2022! And in this edition the lads talk all things Spring-heeld Jack! But who was Spring-heeled Jack? In short Spring-heeled Jack is an entity in English folklore of the Victorian era. The first claimed sighting of Spring-heeled Jack was in 1837. Later sightings were reported all over the United Kingdom and were especially prevalent in suburban London, the Midlands and Scotland. There are many theories about the nature and identity of Spring-heeled Jack. This urban legend was very popular in its time, due to the tales of his bizarre appearance and ability to make extraordinary leaps, to the point that he became the topic of several works of fiction. Spring-heeled Jack was described by people who claimed to have seen him as having a terrifying and frightful appearance, with diabolical physiognomy, clawed hands, and eyes that "resembled red balls of fire". One report claimed that, beneath a black cloak, he wore a helmet and a tight-fitting white garment like an oilskin. Many stories also mention a "Devil-like" aspect. Others said he was tall and thin, with the appearance of a gentleman. Several reports mention that he could breathe out blue and white flames and that he wore sharp metallic claws at his fingertips. At least two people claimed that he was able to speak comprehensible English. However, instead of skipping straight to History; I decided to collaborate with Warren on a topic that sits nicely in-between True Crime and History. The result; Jack the Ripper! Many of you will have already heard the name but to some this crazy tale up; Jack the Ripper was an English serial killer. Between August and November 1888, he murdered at least five women—all prostitutes—in or near the Whitechapel district of London's East End. Jack the Ripper was never identified or arrested. Today the murder sites are the locus of a macabre tourist industry in London. THE LADS™️ are back with Episode 41! And in this one THE LADS™️ kick off a BRAND NEW theme that we are going to be sticking on for the next few episodes together. We get into it further within the episode but this episode marks the start of this new theme which out simple is THE LADS™️ attack on an array of charlatans within several "self-help" industries. These individuals prey on susceptible people for their own gain, promising them the sun moon and stars in exchange for their money. This happens across the board, in many different spaces and we are going after all of them 😂 Don't worry, its still signature lads craic, but we have a bone to pick. We also have some stories of our own that tie nicely into this theme that we think yous will enjoy. But anyway; to kick things off for this new theme we are talking all things YOGA! But more specifically, Mr Bikram Choudhury! But who is Bikram Choudhury? In short; Bikram Choudhury is an Indian-born American yoga guru and the founder of Bikram Yoga, a form of hot yoga consisting of a fixed series of 26 postures practised in a hot environment of 40 °C (104 °F). The business became a success in the United States and then across the Western world, with a variety of celebrity pupils. His former wife Rajashree Choudhury assisted him in the yoga business. In 2009 he began a series of copyright claims to protect the series of postures of Bikram Yoga; this was ultimately unsuccessful, and other studios continue to teach the series. Choudhury was the subject of civil suits alleging sexual assault and discrimination against racial and sexual minorities. In 2017, a court awarded $7 million to his former lawyer, Minakshi Jafa-Boden, who gained control of his yoga business when Choudhury fled to India without paying her. Since then he has continued to train yoga teachers outside the United States in countries including Spain and Mexico.
