Description
Like a book club for music nerds, Dan Gordon and Maia Bilyk take a deep dive through a different album each week. Between the nostalgic and brand new, broken down by the artist themselves. Recorded and broadcasted on the stolen land of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge their ongoing struggle. Sovereignty was never ceded.

FKA twig's Caprisongs
2022/01/26
To say FKA twigs in her near-decade career has seen and experienced it all is an understatement. Since first arriving in 2012 as a hot artist to watch, which each release twigs has extended her alt-baroque-electronic world with each new release, culminating in the grandiose opus Magdalene. In the time since, between some very public and very private battles and a pandemic, twigs took some time to recuperate and nearly stepped away from music altogether. Little did she know, in taking "a break", she'd piece herself and her craft back together again, empowered by the everyday intimacy of life itself. Caprisongs is twigs' jubilant and carefree rebirth, where she steadies for mainstream domination. TRACKS PLAYED: 'ride the dragon' 'honda feat. pa salieu' 'meta angel' 'tears in the club feat. the weeknd' 'oh my love' 'pamplemousse' 'caprisongs interlude feat. solo' 'lightbeamers' 'papi bones feat. shygirl' 'which way feat. dystopia' 'jealousy feat. rema' 'careless feat. daniel caesar' 'minds of men' 'track girl interlude' 'darjeeling feat. jorja smith, unknown t' 'christi interlude' 'thank you song'

Deafheaven’s Ordinary Corrupt Human Love
2022/01/19
In July 2018, blackgaze (black metal/shoegaze) juggernauts Deafheaven released one of the most unique records in recent memory. Stomach churning vocals balanced across delicate, graceful instrumentation and tropes of classic rock. This was not blast beat, evil black metal; this was pretty and hopeful. Ordinary Corrupt Human Love is a masterwork of blended styes which despite their completely divergent nature, sound beautiful rather than devastating. TRACKS PLAYED: ‘You Without End’ ‘Honeycomb’ ‘Canary Yellow’ ‘Near’ ‘Glint’ ‘Night People’ ‘Worthless Animal’.

Best Of 2021: The War on Drugs’ I Don’t Live Here Anymore

Best Of 2021: Erika de Casier’s Sensational
2021/12/15
Subtle and unassuming on the surface, Erika de Casier e Ramos Lizardo’s record, Sensational, possesses extraordinary depth. Harkening back to the early naughties whisper-sung R&B stylings of artists like Craig David, de Casier revitalises what feels like an aged sound with self-taught, self-completed, modern production. A stunning album which will only grow on you with each and every listen. TRACKS PLAYED: ‘Drama’ ‘Polite’ ‘Make My Day’ ‘All You Talk About’ ‘Insult Me’ ‘No Butterflies, No Nothing’ ‘Someone to Chill With’ ‘Acceptance - Intermezzo’ ‘Better Than That’ ‘Friendly’ ‘Secretly’ ‘Busy’ ‘Call Me Anytime’.

Best Of 2021: Tinashe’s 333
2021/12/08
Now onto her second album back as an independent artist, Tinashe is finding freedom creatively and sonically. An exciting, sexy and stunningly varied look into the worlds of R&B, Pop, Hip-Hop and even EDM, the lightness of Tinashe’s touch throughout almost feels like a subtle flex. One of our favourite records of all of 2021. TRACKS PLAYED: ‘Let Go’ ‘I Can See The Future’ ‘X’ ‘SHY GUY’ ‘Bouncin’ ‘Unconditional’ ‘Angels’ ‘333’ ‘Undo (Back To My Heart)’ ‘Let Me Down Slowly’ ‘Last Call’ ‘The Chase’ ‘Pasadena’ ‘Small Reminders’ ‘Bouncin’, Pt.2’ ‘It’s a Wrap’.

Car Seat Headrest’s Teens of Denial
2021/12/07
If we could travel back to 2016, not a day would go by without hearing something positive about, or simply just hearing Car Seat Headrest. Teens of Denial had music nerds and critical darlings everywhere swooning. The thirteenth (!) record in 23 year old, Will Toledo’s catalogue, provided hooks, riffs, lyrics and arrangements so ludicrously sweet, we still yearn for them to this day. Tyler, The Creator’s Call Me If You Get Lost
2021/12/07
In 2021’s year of Hip-Hop, there hasn’t been a mountain of new music to really shift the dial in terms of where the new standard should be set. That is, outside of Tyler, The Creator’s work, of course. An album so infectious and brimming with creativity that it’s next to impossible to not listen to in one sitting.
