Plaintiff attorney Tony Buzbee has also hinted at 2 more suits being filed. We also have to wait and see how the NFL handles the news of the settlements as it relates to punishment for Watson. Dan Wallach and Mike are back with the latest in the sports gambling world. Today they discuss California and Massachusetts as they slowly work towards legalization. California (2:15) has two competing bills on the ballot for CA residents to vote on in November of 2022. The key here is can both survive, we say no. Massachusetts (14:35) has collective agreement to legalize sports gambling but the House and the Senate cannot agree on language of the bill, and are disagreeing over allowing college sports betting, tax rate, and advertisements. The end of the regular session for their legislature is July 31, so keep a close eye on this. Read his full article here. Oliver Luck was the former commissioner of the XFL and was fired by Vince McMahon. Luck is suing McMahon and Alpha Entertainment for wrongful termination and to recover his remaining salary and bonuses in the amount of $24 million. The cause of the termination was cited by McMahon to be about signing Antonio Callaway when the XFL expressed wishes to not sign any players with a legal and/or immoral past. The Dans break down the updates in the Deshaun Watson civil complaints against him. The New York Times wrote an article (read it here) stating that Watson had as many as 66 women giving him massages. Also, the Houston Texans have now been added as a Defendant in these civil complaints. What was the Texans role in all of this? The Texans provided Watson with an NDA and the Texans were allegedly setting up these massages for Watson. The Browns stated that they did their due diligence when signing Watson. However, more information is still developing with the Watons civil complaints. Could the Browns void his contract? (4:40) Johnny Depp's defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard and Heard's counter defamation suit against Depp has come to a verdict. Deshaun Watson has a 23rd civil complaint filed against him. (15:12) When will the NFL issue a suspension? Or will they wait until cases have settled?  Tommy Pham slaps Joc Pedersen over fantasy football issues. (25:11) Pham claims Joc stashed ineligible players on his IR roster spot and that his money was at stake. Pham also called out Mike Trout for being "the worst commissioner in fantasy sports." Pham was suspended 3 games by the MLB. This leads to the ultimate question: should professional athletes be allowed to gamble on sports at all? (2:35)  The Washington Commanders are buying some property in Virginia. (12:50) It appears the Commanders are looking to relocate and have a publically funded stadium with a sports betting license. Jon Gruden's case versus the NFL had their hearing on the motion to compel arbitration. (20:40) The judge denied the NFL's motion to compel and the case will stay in the courts. A.J. (31:00) A.J. discusses what the Judge said during the hearing and the reasoning for the denial of the motion to compel arbitration.  The NFL had each team pay $7.5M for the St. Louis Rams relocation lawsuit and the issue now is whether Stan Kroenke will have to repay the $232.5M back to the owners. The Dans break down all the latest in sports law this week! They discuss the NHL's player injury reporting procedures regarding Crosby's concussion and whether he was playing game 7. (4:15) The talk about the impact this has on sports gambling and betting lines.  The St. Louis Rams lawsuit is back. (11:05) There have been hundreds of pages that were unsealed after the St. Louis Post Dispatch filed a motion to unseal arguing they were public records. These documents show that Kroenke was lying all along and the NFL was aware regarding the land purchase in California and the ultimate move to LA. The NFL aslo referenced the possibility of the Raiders moving to St. Louis. Jerry Jeudy was arrested for criminal tampering. (21:24) He allegedly locked some items in a car away from the mother of his child. However, she is not cooperating at this time and that will make it difficult to bring charges and for the NFL to issue any suspension. Josh Lambo files a lawsuit against the Jacksonville Jaguars, his former team, for a hostile work environment. (27:27) Urban Meyer was the prior head coach who allegedly kicked Josh in the leg during warmups. The lawsuit he was verbally and physically abused and the environment as a whole was hostile to play and work in and seeks $3.5M in compensation. Does the aribitration clause apply here? Jon Gruden has a hearing coming up in his lawsuit against the NFL. (37:54) Will his case remain in the courtroom? Or will it be forced into arbitration? Updates on the civil suits against Deshaun Watson. (43:28) Watson appeared back for depositions and some of the testimony has been leaked by Tony Buzbee. The NFL has not placed a suspension on Watson. Is Buzbee attempting to push Goodell to suspend Watson? Matt Harvey suspended for 60 games after his testimony in the Tyler Skaggs drug overdose lawsuit and involvement in providing drugs to Skaggs.
