The Enemies of Intimacy (JOY Retreat Saturday Morning Session)
2026/10/28
The enemy would like nothing better than to keep us from walking in full intimacy with the Father. Join us as we take a look at the enemies of intimacy and how we can guard against them to protect what God has planted in us.  Song of Songs 2:15 (tpt) You must catch the troubling foxes, those sly little foxes that hinder our relationship. For they raid our budding vineyard of love to ruin what I’ve planted within you. Will you catch them and remove them for me? We will do it together.
Walking with God - Intimacy Starts with Knowing You're Wanted (JOY Retreat Friday Night Session)
2026/10/26
Intimacy starts with knowing that you're wanted. God has invited us, His daughters, into a deep and intimate walk with Him. He wants us to know Him and to be known by Him. God wants you, and He wants to be wanted by you.  Take a listen as Pastor Toni leads us into a deeper walk with God.
Enduring Joy Part 2 Q&A - (JOY Retreat Thursday Morning Panel Session)
2026/10/23
Welcome back for the Q&A of our Thursday morning panel session with Andrea Hoppel, Brooke Vondrasek, and Barb Lagaras. We set this time apart to take questions from the women present about Enduring Joy: What to do When Joy is Hiding.  Questions like: What would you say to the women who feel like Joy is very far away? How do you reconcile feeling the deep emotions and trusting God in the midst of it? Where does Joy fit in seasons of intense pain and grief? What to do when you seek a tangible answer (or distraction) but the thing you need is really spiritual?
Enduring Joy: What to do when Joy is Hiding (JOY Retreat Thursday Morning Panel Session Part 1)
2026/10/22
Andrea Hoppel, Brooke Vondrasek, and Barb Lagaras sat down with us at the retreat and had a deep, heart-to-heart conversation with us about Enduring Joy: What to do When Joy is Hiding. Andrea said of these moments: "Conversations like these are a secret map to a well someone else dug so we know where to get water from."  They talked on verses of joy that were set in moments of trial and pain and deep emotion. They spoke of Joy that endures through any season, sunshine or rain, happiness and pain. Lengthy trials. Night seasons. And the power of Sisterhood and community in the midst of these moments.  We pray that as you drink deeply from this well of wisdom, you will connect with the joy of the Lord on a deeper level.

It was an unscripted Q&A, where we talked about all the things, from comfort foods, mastering life skills and grocery bagging to soul care, real rest and celebrating aging while not wanting to lose our youth. A Conversation About When Life is Messy
2026/03/31
There are some conversations that are easy and some that are messy, and this month we have a messy one for you! Toni and Sue gather us around the topic of What to do When Life is Messy. Whether the messes are self-inflicted, other's-inflicted, or life-inflicted, they are no fun. And they always require attention. Join us as we talk about how we can respond to these messes and help our sisters who are going through them too.  This is the link to the teaching we reference if you want to hear the message that produced this conversation.  Watch on our website:   https://-2FXQFS.subspla.sh/w9vdvb9 Listen on iTunes:   https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-river-church-sermons/id1685955997?i=1000755580528 Listen on Spotify:    https://open.spotify.com/episode/3yJaDwdpTr2a3xoiMLJS8h?si=eSOUFGSMS-WsH0uVyrZwLQ

2025/11/28
It's that time of year again! Decorating, fa-la-la-ing, Christmas traditions and all the things. Today Toni, Tammy, Sue and Alli talk about traditions, recipes and how to navigate changing traditions when the seasons change with or without your permission.  I laughed and cried and laughed again. Grab a hot cup of tea and join us for this episode to kick off the Christmas season.
What if they're doing it WAY differently than you?
2025/10/28
This is a hot topic these days, and not just in the church. Topics we disagree on can range from light to heavy. From whether or not you make your kids make their beds to homeschooling vs. public schooling, SAHM vs. working moms, and trick-or-treat and santa.  We are joined this week by Pastor Christine, Krystal, Alli, and Toni in this timely conversation delving into how to have holy disagreements without judging, what does a healthy conversation look like, and finding out it's okay to have a conversation and not land in the same place when it's all over.  How do I disagree with my neighbor and still love them? Check it out.
Between Sisters Retreat Edition: Saturday am - Don’t Let Anything Take What God has Awakened
2025/10/17
Between Sisters Retreat Edition continues with Pastor Toni during our final session. The title of this session was Don’t Let Anything Take What God has Awakened. It was a powerful word about guarding the deposits God made in us over the weekend and staying awake. Staying alert. And recognizing the lies of the enemy when he comes so we can walk confidently in what God has created us for.  The retreat is over. God has come and awakened things in us, just as we asked Him to. Now we get to walk in it. What did He awaken in you? Hold onto it.
Between Sisters Retreat Edition: The Invitation: When Ordinary Spaces Become Sacred Places
2025/10/15
We are continuing our between sisters retreat edition with this message from our Friday evening session. Our word this year was awaken and Mrs. Lori Wiebe ministered to us straight from the heart of God with a message titled The Invitation: When Ordinary Spaces Become Sacred Places, transforming us from Fine to Fierce.  Trust me girls. You're going to want to listen to this one more than once. So good! So many nuggets to encourage and inspire us and to bring us hope. This is one you'll want to share with your girlfriends.  Are you ready to accept the invitation into a new season with God and go from being just fine to being fierce? Check it out.
