Retired WorkSafe Inspector Shares His Experiences | Health & Safety Unplugged S4 E5

Shane Strode-Penny, a retired inspector from WorkSafe NZ, is now enjoying retirement but remains busy with consulting and volunteering. He is known for sharing his insights and experiences on the NZHSP Facebook group.
Shane believes that inspectors should receive more recognition for their work and that the regulator should nominate inspectors for awards. He also highlights the importance of training inspectors with fact-based and
physical training, rather than relying solely on online courses. Shane suggests increasing the number of inspectors and improving support in the offices. He
emphasizes the need for the regulator to focus on education and enforcement.
