Above all, Max rejected fantasizing and accepted reality. The more I smoked Crack, the more I fantasized everything. I imagined getting even for hurts and rejections. In my mind’s eye I played and replayed scenes in which I was plucked magically from the crack house where I stood licking a pipe and was instantly exalted to some posi- tion of power and prestige. I lived in a dream world. The 12 steps and fellowship led me gently from this fantasizing to embrace reality with open arms. And I found it beautiful! For, at last, I was at peace with myself. David D H- JAPAN  Author of Wounded Angels and The Solarian Deep will be talking on Addiction hopping.  My story involves recovery from traumatic circumstances, with addictions to substances as well as codependency along the way.  David came into recovery through alcohol and drugs but over time realized he was always replacing one thing with another. My name is Amanda a joyous, free, and recovered alcoholic/addict. The first time I drank at 13 it was a problem. It led me down a dark path of intravenous drug use, violence and sex work. I was plagued by self loathing, guilt and shame which led to not only me praying i would die but also my beautiful children praying that i would die too. They wanted me to be at peace. Today is very different. I wake up full of gratitude, love and a zest for life. I finally got this miraculous programme two weeks before my 50th birthday.
