Hospital at Home Pathway for Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Patients

Sam Dyer interviews Kaitlyn G. Elrod, DMS, PA-C, CAQ-OS, ATC. Kaitlyn is part of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Atrium Health Musculoskeletal Institute in Charlotte, NC. She shares the success of offering a Hospital at Home (HAH) Pathway to orthopedic patients, specifically foot and ankle patients. HAH programs provide hospital-level services outside the brick-and-mortar hospital setting and have demonstrated effectiveness in medical populations. For patients that are healthy enough, can we reduce the number of nights they spend in a brick-and-mortar hospital? How do HAH outcomes compare to a baseline cohort over a matched historical timeframe? Remembering Mike Weber, PA Emeritus

Today we remember our friend and longtime PAOS member, Michael “Mike” Weber, who passed away on July 28 after a long illness. Mike was a dedicated supporter of PAOS, a respected colleague, and a very good friend. It was my privilege to interview him for this podcast a few years ago, and in his memory we are honored to share that conversation again. Mike will be deeply missed. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Mary, his family, and all who knew and loved him.

Peptides and Regenerative Medicine - Part 2

Peptides have been used as adjuncts to help with soft tissue repair, reduce inflammation and improve healing after surgery, but are not FDA approved at the time of this recording. This means it's important to get treatments from compounding pharmacies or other reputable sources, as it is not regulated in the same way as FDA-approved treatments.
