Invited Back with Captain Ann Ford Author of Wind in My Sails: A Sailor’s Journey Through Stormy Seas and Sacred Winds.
2026/09/11
In this special episode I sit down with my mom, Captain Ann Ford, during the launch of her new book, Wind in My Sails: A Sailor’s Journey Through Stormy Seas and Sacred Winds.
After sailing more than 30,000 miles across the Pacific, Mom has learned a thing or two about storms, changing winds, and finding your way when the course doesn’t go as planned. But this conversation goes deeper than sailing.
We talk about the emotional storms we carry beneath the surface, learning to listen to the Holy Spirit, what it means to lead while making room for your heart, the cost of saying yes to a dream, and how God can redirect us through the moments we least understand.
This is a conversation about faith, courage, leadership, loss, adventure, legacy, and the sacred winds that carry us forward.
You can’t control the wind.
You can adjust the sails.
And the journey continues.

Connected Leadership Live: The Power of an Invitation
2026/08/27
This episode is a live recording from our August 2026 Connected Leadership Live session hosted by the Claremont Chamber of Commerce. This was a conversation about exploring the unexpected invitations that shape who we become: the invitation to return, to cross over, and to reach out.
What if the moments we most want to avoid are actually invitations?
I share the story of returning to Palau after the loss of my brother, and how grief unexpectedly invited me back into parts of my story, family, and culture I had spent years trying to move away from. I reflect on how returning doesn’t mean becoming who we once were; sometimes, we return as a stronger, more capable version of ourselves.
From there, I explore the power bridges as an invitation to cross over, to reinvent, take a risk, and move toward possibilities we couldn’t reach on our own.
And finally, I consider what it means to reach out and re invite others into the journey, creating spaces where people can be honest, known, and belong.
Where are you being invited to return?
What bridge are you being asked to cross?
Who might need you to reach out and invite them in?
Reimagining Leadership: My MBA Graduation, Five Years of Invited Back, and What's Next
2026/08/03
Recorded live from the Luskin Conference Center & Hotel on the campus of UCLA, this episode marks a deeply personal milestone: the day after I graduated with my MBA in Leadership and Strategy from the College de Paris in partnership with Ducere Global Business School. As Invited Back enters its fifth year of serving leaders and organizations around the world, I reflect on the journey that brought us here and the invitation that lies ahead.
This isn't just a celebration of a degree or a business anniversary. It's a reminder that growth happens in community, leadership begins with relationship, and every new season invites us to see what's possible with fresh eyes.
To every client, friend, mentor, and partner who has entrusted me with your stories and your leadership journey, thank you. And to my husband and family, who remain the foundation beneath every step forward, I am endlessly grateful.
Here's to five years of building bridges, restoring relationships, and creating spaces where people are invited back to one another. The best is still ahead.
Let's reimagine. Let's reinvent. Let's reinvite. Together.
Summer 2025 Recap: Shifting Rhythms, Half Marathons, Palau & Leading Through Resistance | Sabeth Kapahu
2025/08/27
This season has been a blend of early mornings, long runs, cross-cultural connections, and unexpected wisdom. In this recap, I reflect on the highlights and lessons of June–August 2025:
Shifting Rhythms 🌅 Closing out my last 3am MBA class, moving from “have to” → “get to,” and creating space to notice family, gratitude, and growth.
Here’s to the Streamline: Lessons from the Pool 🏊♀️ Learning from Olympian Lacey John (Nymeyer) about how swimmers navigate resistance—and how women in leadership can do the same with strategy, posture, and purpose.
Reflections from the ʻOhiʻa Lehua Half Marathon 🏃♀️ Training as a working mom of four, running through Volcano, Hawai‘i, and remembering that finishing isn’t about perfection, but faithful presence and the gift of community.
Snapshots from Palau 🌊 What began as planned meetings turned into deeply relational moments of trust, cultural restoration, and Pacific partnerships that reminded me that leadership transformation often happens outside the boardroom.
Through it all, I’ve been reminded that leadership and life are less about flawless execution and more about presence, perseverance, and the courage to keep moving forward—even through resistance.
💡 My hope is that this recap encourages you to honor your own season, trust the process, and notice the sacred lessons in the everyday.

May Recap | Trust, Transitions & the Sacred in the Small | Invited Back with Sabeth Kapahu
2025/05/30
Aloha kākou! As we wrap up the month of May, I’m reflecting on the moments that shaped us—planned and unplanned. From the sacred pause of Lei Day, to the end-of-school chaos, our 15th wedding anniversary, Alumni award, and our WiLD Conversation with Stephen M. R. Covey, this month reminded me: trust is measurable, relationships matter, and becoming is a process worth honoring.
In this month’s recap, I share:
🌺Why Lei Day celebrations of connection matter
💬 Highlights from our conversation on trust with Stephen M. R. Covey
💍 A look back at our 15-year anniversary and PacRim roots
📚 The beauty and stretch of finishing a school year as a mama
💪 Reflections on growth and gratitude with my FIN family
If you’ve felt stretched thin, full of big feelings, or just in need of a quiet reminder that you’re not alone—this one’s for you.
May we continue to reimagine, reinvent, and reinvite together! ✨

Paying Attention to the Evidence of Growth
2025/05/01
In this April recap, I pause to reflect on what this month has held—both in remembrance and in movement forward. April marks one year since my brother’s passing, and in this episode, I open my heart to what it means to grieve with hope. I share how reading A Grief Observed by C.S. Lewis and The Roots of Sorrow by Dr. Phil Zylla has helped me name the layered experience of holding sorrow and healing at the same time. Both voices have reminded me that grief is not a problem to be fixed, but a formational space—a place where deep growth can take root.If there’s anything this month has taught me—through the journey of being a mother, wife, business owner, friend, and team member—it’s that I am in process. And instead of focusing on what didn’t go the way I planned or hoped, I’m learning to look for the evidence of growth. Because it’s there. Sometimes small and quiet, but deeply real.I share a few glimpses of that growth—journeying alongside business students from Loyola Marymount University as they wrapped up their group project, celebrating Merrie Monarch and the beauty of cultural legacy, walking through Lent and into the joy of Easter Sunday, and perhaps most personally, transitioning into being the mother of a teenager. This episode is an invitation to reflect on your own process. To hold space for what hasn’t gone as planned, while choosing to honor the evidence that growth is happening—maybe not perfectly, but faithfully.
I can't change what I don't accept.

We are dedicated to building bridges of healing and hope across the Pacific, especially between Hawaii, Japan, Palau, Alaska, and beyond.
January 2025... LET'S GO!
2025/01/27
Let's reimagine, reinvent, and reinvite our way through 2025 together.
There's power in the opportunity to return to the same location as a different person. That's what my husband and I got to do as we rang in the New Year together in Japan.
All the things we thought about who we were, what we wanted, why we were doing what we were doing shaped the moments and years to come but not without major adjustments to what we believed, how we related, and when we chose to say yes and no.
We each have the same amount of hours in a day, days in a month, and months in a year, but what we get to create with them is up to us!
Here's to the journey ahead together.

Remembering Remy, Jacksonville, Olympia, and Yerington: Invited Back April 2024 recap
2024/12/11
April 1, 2024 changed my journey forever and launched a month of experiences I never could have imagined. It was heartbreaking and groundbreaking and just the beginning of a new life without by brother.
8 days after we got the news I traveled to Jacksonville, FL with the WiLD Leaders team to support Dr. McKenna as a keynote speaker and to hold the clipboard for Rob and Dr. Hallak running the day long CEO Forum at the CLA National Conference.
Then, my mom and I traveled to Olympia , WA to remember Remy with the people we grew up in community with there, and then on to Nevada to meet up with my Niece at attend the service for my brother with the people who loved him deeply in Yerington.
