If I have to pick a favorite quote, mine is this: “Know ye not why we created you all from the same dust? That no one should exalt himself over the other. Ponder in your hearts at all times how ye were created.” If we believe this to be true, then we must act in a way that aligns with that belief. One of the key applications of this, which is my heart’s most earnest desire, is that we regard all individuals and all peoples as noble and knowledgeable. That we never discount, or pass up an opportunity to learn from, the knowledge of every cross-section of humanity. To do this, we must day by day develop our inner sight by freeing our self from prejudices towards people...people of a different race, religion, or social status. What we have achieved over the last couple of centuries in the industrialized world is remarkable. Yet we must also recognize that much of that progress was made at the expense of a large portion of the world’s population. Their concerns, their priorities, their ingenuity, were not given due consideration. The knowledge of this provides an opportunity for growth. We can now begin to look for better ways to operate.
