Description

What is a "sincere kitchen"? What is a "sincere cook"? A sincere kitchen where food was cooked and shared freely, a kitchen where the cooks are allowed to be creative and free, and where people are embraced because of their uniqueness and spirits. A sincere cook takes great joy in gathering ingredients, cooking special foods for themselves and others, and extends a level of hospitality to others that makes everyone feel welcome. Produced and presented by Shannon Vavich, cooking teacher, recipe writer, food artist, military spouse, lifelong international culinary student, and mother of seven - based on her experiences cooking in "sincere kitchens" around the world, and creating a sincere kitchen for herself, her family and friends.

Episode 2: What is “Anti-Diet”?
2021/07/14
In episode 2 of Kitchen Sincerity, I review the life-changing book: Anti-Diet; Why Obsessing Over What You Eat is Bad for Your Health – Reclaim Your Time, Money, Well-Being and Happiness Through INTUITIVE EATING by Christy Harrison, MPH RD. I talk about how I found Christy’s podcast “Food Psych”, and how her book “Anti-Diet” was the anchor I was searching for after a lifetime of a disordered relationship with food. I also talk about some of the new goings on in my house (my dryer is broken), my laundry room is assed up, our recents travels through Germany, how my leg is healing after crushing it in October and how going “Anti-Diet” has been the key to unlocking even more resilience in my life, and sincerity in my kitchen. Be sure to join my Patreon community for my recipes, mini cooking lessons, and if you’d like to support this podcast. Thank you for being here, Shannon Vavich
Episode 1: Taking Risks for Your Joy
2021/06/10
In Episode one of The Kitchen Sincerity Podcast, I tell my story of how I’ve taken risks to find my joy and keep it. I talk about how I, over the years, learned to manage my eating disorder to be able to work with food, and how finally, thanks to one book, the pandemic and shattering my leg – I’ve healed my relationship with food. I talk about creativity, and have many words of encouragement for my artistic, creative friends. I talk about the risk and even pain of doing something different, and the importance of being your authentic self in order to attract ideal friends and relationships. Thanks for being here!
