"Contentment Over Comparison" - Oklahoma Softball Chaplain Sarah Roberts
2022/05/19
Comparison is the thief of joy. You've probably heard that before, and it's the cornerstone point of this week's "Inside the Chapel" episode with University of Oklahoma Softball chaplain Sarah Roberts. Roberts talks about how if the enemy can't cut us down, he'll at least try to distract us and keep us busy. Causing us to compare ourselves to others is one way he tries to that, as all of it keeps us focused on worldly pursuits instead of focusing on who God has called us to be and what God has called us to do. It's okay to have passions and pursue certain things, but the order in which we do it matters. We must seek first the kingdom of God, not our worldly pursuits. "Inside the Chapel" is part of the Sports Spectrum Podcast Network. "Pursuing God" - San Antonio Spurs Chaplain Sam Johnson
2022/05/05
This week on "Inside the Chapel," San Antonio Spurs chaplain Sam Johnson shares a message from John 8:31-32 about discipleship and pursuing God. He particularly hits on the part of verse 32 that says, "then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." He uses the analogy that in the way that professional athletes need proper nutrition and to fill their bodies with good food, Christians need to pursue God and fill their hearts and minds with the proper spiritual food and truth from the Bible. "Be an Ambassador" - USMNT Chaplain Andy Young
2022/04/21
Andy Young serves as the team chaplain for the United States men's national soccer team, and this week on "Inside the Chapel," he takes us inside the locker room with his message to the team before their World Cup qualifying win over Costa Rica on March 30 — the win that clinched the team's first World Cup berth since 2014. His message is about being on mission and discerning what we are called to do as followers as Jesus. He uses the idea of an "ambassador" and how we should be ambassadors for the gospel. What does it look like for a professional athlete to be radically different from his teammates and others? How do they use their platforms to be ambassadors for Christ? His message unpacks all of that. "Inside the Chapel" is part of the Sports Spectrum Podcast Network. "The Greatest Grind" - Texas A&M Football Chaplain Mikado Hinson
2022/01/27
Mikado Hinson serves as the chaplain for the Texas A&M football team, and this week on "Inside the Chapel" he brings a message about the final hours that Jesus spent before heading to the cross. The main theme of his message is that regardless of what you're going through, always stay connected to God. Just as Jesus did in the Garden of the Gethsemane, even in the face of death, he clinged to God. Recorded following fall camp, Hinson urges his players to do the same, and to find some close friends — some "real ones" as he calls it — who can walk that journey with them and hold them accountable.
