If we carry a heavy burden, then sadly our life may feel heavy and dark and then what should we do? God loves us, but we need to remember, God’s will never changes. God says: I am the Lord that is my name. God is firm in what he says. If we will not listen and obey God, He will discipline us through consequences. God’s goal is that we learn to trust in Him. As Matthew tells us about the birth of Jesus, we learn more about Joseph than at any other point in scripture. We learn the kind of person he was and most of all, we learn about who Jesus will be. Advent and Christmas means celebrating the birth of a baby. Babies make no demands on anyone other than their parents or those caring for them. While we may enjoy holding babies, the moment they start fussing we quickly hand them back to their mother or father. If we forever view Jesus as an infant perhaps like our own children, we miss out on much of his life and teachings. It is so important that we be an example and share all we know of our Lord Jesus Christ. Judah was characterized by rugged terrain, rolling hills, and fertile valleys and this region, known as the Hill Country of Judah, played a crucial role in the life and history of the Israelite tribes, particularly the tribe of Judah. It is often described as a land flowing with milk and honey, reflecting its agricultural richness and strategic importance for settlement and agriculture. Overall, the desert in the Bible is a powerful metaphor for the trials and growth that come with faith and trust in God. In our wilderness, it seems that there is never enough time, never enough money, never enough understanding, and never enough love… Our hands are weak. Our knees grow feeble. Our hearts become oh so fearful. So, let me ask: Where are those scary, wilderness spaces deep inside our souls? The central theme of Psalm 46 is the assurance of God's protection and presence during crises. We note, that fear is a terrible thing. Fear causes us to settle for second best. One of the hardest lessons we need to learn is that not many worthwhile things in life are ever given, most have to be earned. It appears that work is part of the plan of God for our lives. The apostle Paul believed this. Work is seen as part of God's perfect creation. Work is not merely as a means of survival, but as a way to participate in God's creative order. God has drawn a line in the sand that the devil cannot cross - We must recognize that God’s boundaries not only protect us but also guide us toward righteousness. Paul says that we must be ready for anything that threatens our faith. Paul knew that the Thessalonians would face pressure from persecution, false teachers, worldliness, and apathy, causing them to waver from the truth and possibly to leave the faith. Paul wants us to be “Living with faith, he wants us to stand firm, and he wants us to stay strong. Paul often encouraged believers to live out grace in their relationships, forgiving one another as God has forgiven each of us. Paul thought he was nearing the end of his life, and so Paul could confidently say that he had been faithful to his call. Paul writes this letter to Timothy. Paul essentially says: don’t give up! Continue to live as you know you should, God is the only one you need to please. He also says: don’t expect false teachers and evil people to reform and change on their own. Left alone, they will go from bad to worse.
