On today’s episode we’re joined by Darcy Michero from End Overdose!  Darcy is the Director of Events and Fundraising Programs at End Overdose, a Los Angeles based 501(c)3 non-profit organization working to end drug-related overdose deaths through education, medical intervention, and public awareness. End Overdose was founded in 2018 by Theo Krzywicki, and aims to educate and train individuals on how to intervene during a suspected overdose, as well as make resources that prevent overdose-related deaths accessible to everyone. To directly target outreach to the most at-risk populations, they focus on education, resource distribution, and community collaboration. Darcy graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in June 2022 with a B.S. in psychobiology and began volunteering with End Overdose in 2021 after she developed a passion for harm reduction through her fellowship at the UCLA Integrated Substance Abuse Programs, which aimed to assuage opioid dependence with medication-assisted treatment and CBT counseling. On top of her role at End Overdose, she manages and designs clinical trials for Quit Genius (QG), a telehealth startup that provides a digital therapeutic solution for opioid, alcohol, and tobacco use management. With a dedication to harm reduction solutions and preventing overdose deaths, Darcy curates events and builds relationships with organizations to disseminate End Overdose’s mission.
