Welcome to Uncommon Denominator with Kye McMickle.
Every day there are those who walk among us who are carrying out the rare, impossible, and extraordinary acts that change our world forever.
Kye is inviting all of you to join him on his mission to find out who is leaving a positive mark on the world and to uncover how each of us can leave our own legendary legacy.
In this first episode, Kye sits down with Nathan Robinson, a Marine Biologist and Science Communicator to delve deep into what he does for a living and the positive impact it has on our world.
Nathan grew up in the United Kingdom and earned a Masters of Marine Biology from the University of Southampton. During his degree, he worked with several sea turtle conservation programs. In 2010, Nathan began his PhD at Purdue University where he focused his thesis on researching the migratory behaviour of sea turtles. In 2015, a video of his went viral when he removed a straw from the nostril of a sea turtle. Needless to say, he’s a person who has cared about animals and the health of our planet from the very beginning!
Now, Nathan spends roughly half his time conducting research, while the other half is spent on communicating and raising awareness about environmental initiatives.
Throughout the episode, Kye and Nathan discuss the current state of the environment and how climate change is affecting animals all over the world. They’ll discuss different ways each of us can do our part to help take care of the environment, no matter where we live in the world!
