Ep. 373: Should Sports Fans Support a Salary Cap?
2026/10/06
This week, the guys get into a good debate about whether salary caps should exist in sports. Josh starts as a proponent of putting a cap in play, but Evan pushes back on the idea, especially given the way MLB is trying to pitch the issue. It leads to some fun sports discussion that they don't usually have, even if they aren't exactly experts on the subject. The guys also discuss the dastardly deed of dynamic pricing at movie theaters, and whether there's any merit behind it. Evan also has a garage sale recap and has been busy running around dog-sitting on Rover, and the guys are excited to finally embrace fall. Listen in for Fact of the Week and "sticking it to the man" tidbits, and to check out what's coming up on the calendar!
Ep. 372: Finally Learning to be Funny?!?
2026/09/30
This week, the guys get to talk about life being funny! Evan gets to break down his new comedy class, and maybe he can bring some upgraded humor to the podcast. But don't hold your breath... The guys also talk about whether you should pay for a fishing license if you don't actually catch any fish, and whether they just follow the rules anyway because it makes them feel better. Josh is a big fan of following the rules, while Evan is on the fence depending on the situation. Things wrap up with discussions about taking classes on things, and whether it's a worthwhile way to learn. There are also some Fact of the Week and "sticking it to the man" tidbits, and they check out what's coming up on the calendar!
Ep. 371: Being Nice Helps You Get Lucky
2026/09/22
This week, the guys test their luck and talk about getting lucky. Evan considers himself to be a pretty fortunate individual who has good things come his way, and Josh is in a similar boat. But do they rely on pennies and four-leaf clovers, or do they make their own luck by being kind to others? Being nice definitely helps, and it can lead to some nice behavior coming right back. The guys also talk about Evan's tease from last week, and it's about bringing funny to life and life being funny! Tune in to find out what the big update is, and whether it could be a new chapter in his life. And as always, there are Fact of the Week and "sticking it to the man" tidbits to discover while also checking out what's coming up on the calendar!
Ep. 370: Doin' the Dirty Dolphin Dance
2026/09/11
This week, the guys discuss some dastardly dolphins doing their dirty dancing on Evan's trip to the Indianapolis Zoo. Despite being too preoccupied to put on their usual show, the dolphins did a different kind of show that wasn't family-friendly. And the walruses followed suit! In other animal news, the guys break down dog years and ask why animal years became a unit of measurement to begin with. Why aren't there more animal-based years than dogs? Josh and Evan don't know, but they do try to finally discuss what two years is like in human years. Is it a long time, or just a short spurt? There are also Fact of the Week and "sticking it to the man" tidbits to touch on, and they check out what's coming up on the calendar!
Ep. 369: Does an MBA Make You a Business Master?
2026/08/28
This week, the guys try to figure out whether furthering your education in a formal setting will set you up for sustained success, or whether going back to school is far from cool. These days, going to college is less cool than Josh and Evan remember it, but that hasn't stopped Josh from thinking he might want to make it big with an MBA. While they both have no hope of making it into the NBA, maybe becoming a business master would be a good career move. All of that stems from the topic of how long two years really is, which they never really touch on, and it leads to further talk about career plans and the state of the world. There are also some Fact of the Week and "sticking it to the man" tidbits, and the check out what's coming up on the calendar!
Ep. 368: Selling Your Soul for a Sales Job
2026/08/21
This week, the guys get to discuss whether Evan should sell out and set his sights on a sales job. After being sold on the chance to be essentially set for life (or at least make a lot of money) after just two years of selling his soul, Evan has to decide whether it makes sense to commit all of his time, energy, and life to door-to-door sales for the next two-plus years. Josh weighs in, and the guys talk about what it's like to figure out what works when it comes to work. Is it worth it to work like crazy if you can't enjoy life? As usual, AI comes up in conversation, and they start to wonder if two years is even a long time. And as always, there are Fact of the Week and "sticking it to the man" tidbits, and they check out what's coming up on the calendar!
Ep. 367: Good Times at Gen Con
2026/08/13
This week, the guys get together to gab about the biggest board/card game event of the year: Gen Con! Evan's second straight year at the event might not have been quite as fun as his first, but at least he didn't get rained on indoors! Instead, he had his own waterworks in the form of tears after epically failing to win a free game with friends. However, his epic "sticking it to the man" attempt was a smashing success, and he got some free tech from Verizon! Josh shares his thoughts on trade shows and what other fandom events feel anything like Gen Con. The guys also recap a nice night at the ballpark, and other topics are touched on. Listen in for Fact of the Week tidbits too, and to check out what's coming up on the calendar!
Ep. 366: Is NFL Flag Football the Future?!
2026/08/07
This week, the guys FINALLY get back to recording after their schedules have been tough to sync. Between Josh being busy before a work trip and then Evan's exciting time as an NFL employee, there are plenty of things to discuss! Namely, the NFL Flag Football Championships came to Westfield, and Evan was right in the middle of the action. Grand Park was poppin', and it turns out that flag football can be super fun! It might be the future of football, unless all the coaches make the kids cry and quit playing... Along with flag football stories, they discuss Josh's long road to recovery and feeling like himself, and other things that have been going on. As always, there are plenty of Fact of the Week and "sticking it to the man" tidbits to share, and they check out what's coming up on the calendar!
Ep. 365: Our Fav Finds From the First Half of 2026
2026/07/27
This week, the guys are going over their top things from the first half of 2026 as part of their usual biannual breakdown. Both Josh and Evan have plenty of highlights to hit, and they dive right in after recapping following an off week. What movies are in the must-watch category? Are there specific shows worth binging? How about Josh's best books or Evan's greatest games? Listen in to hear what gets a gold star in their books, and to see if you agree with their recommendations or think the guys are off base on anything. And be sure to share your favorite content/stuff in the comments! There are also Fact of the Week and "sticking it to the man" tidbits to cover before checking out what's coming up on the calendar!
Ep. 364: What Happened to Being Happy for Holidays?!
2026/07/10
This week, the guys are gearing up for the Fourth of July, but Josh isn't jumping for joy like usual for his former(?) favorite holiday. Whether it's because he's been under the weather, or whether it's because he's lost his childhood wonder is up for debate. Do the guys think that any holidays hold the same place in our hearts these days? They try to figure out if they really get jazzed for anything as much now that they're older, and Evan leans on ice cream to help figure out if the ol' favorites still hit like always. Spoiler alert, shoutout to Moose Tracks! The guys also recap their weeks and touch on Fact of the Week and "sticking it to the man" tidbits before checking out what's coming up on the calendar.
Ep. 363: How the Heck to Get a Human on the Phone
2026/07/03
This week, the guys have some thoughts about human interaction, especially when it happens in a customer service setting. Evan has literally been on the phone for days on end, and he was basically locked in a loop of talking to an automated answering machine with no end in sight. So, did he break through and talk to a person? Or is he still stuck?! Josh and Evan also had a funny ice cream customer service interaction, and it got them talking about other customer service stuff. Maybe it's good to get on the phone and talk to someone, or even communicate in person once in a while! The guys also share some Fact of the Week and "sticking it to the man" tidbits, and they check out what's coming up on the calendar.
Ep. 362: Evan's Helicopter Pilot was HOW Old?!?
2026/06/24
This week, Evan has some historic helicopter happenings to harp on! While Josh is under the weather, Evan is flying high after some special high flying. He takes Josh through the ins and outs of his wild ride, including some very cool moments with his Vietnam War Veteran grandpa. There are plenty of Fact of the Week tidbits mixed in, and it turns out that Josh might have some similar small-town facts to add as well! The guys talk about their experience with small towns before getting into other stuff, so stay tuned. And as always, there are some sick "sticking it to the man" tidbits, and they see what's coming up on the calendar!
Ep. 361: Can a Human Digest a Dog Chew Toy?
2026/06/19
This week, the guys reconvene for some chitchat after Josh's Canadian conquest. There are a couple of things to recap from his trip up north, but the guys still don't have clarity on exactly how to pronounce Toronto like a local, despite Josh claiming he's a convincing Canadian. In other news, Evan had some wiener trouble of the dog variety, and it caused some pre-travel problems that seem to be past him. And while on the topic of dog debacles, the guys get to ponder just how long they think they could keep a plastic chew toy trapped in their guts. Would it ever come out? Who knows! There's also some discussion about the role of AI in the hiring and job searching realm, and other tangents. And as always, there are Fact of the Week and "sticking it to the man" tidbits before checking out what's coming up on the calendar!
Ep. 360: Finding Our Most Famous Friend
2026/06/05
This week, the guys found out some fun news and may have a new most famous friend! With an officially MLB pitcher officially in the rolodex, Josh is pretty confident that he has a most famous friend, and Evan is trying to figure out who takes his top spot. Funnily enough, is there any chance that any listeners out there consider a certain podcast host(s) to be their most-famous friend(s)? The guys discuss how fame has changed over the years and whether social media has made it easier or harder to get famous. And stay tuned for some breaking news about one of Westfield's most famous faces, Joey Chestnut! There are also Fact of the Week and "sticking it to the man" tidbits galore, and they check out what's coming up on the calendar!
Ep. 359: Who's Ready for a Robot Body?
2026/05/28
This week, the guys try to get to the bottom of whether you are really you if you are a robot. Evan is chomping at the bit to become a cyborg, but they're not sure at what point you stop becoming 'you' if you're just all electronics. Do you need to have skin and bones? Or at least have a brain? What about being just a brain in a vat? What if we already are all just brains in vats?! Josh and Evan might not have all the answers, but it's fun to philosophize about. Not everyone enjoys pondering life's big what-ifs, but it can be a fun exercise that's a lost art these days. The guys also talk about spicy neighborhood secrets, bring up some Fact of the Week and "sticking it to the man" tidbits, and check out what's coming up on the calendar!
