Stories of Grace | Sermon by Rabbi David
2026/10/20
This week we met King Derrick, who entered our province and said: “I will rule over you! You must do as I say!” And we, the people, said: “But we don’t even know you!” So King Derrick proceeds to build up our city wall, get us water, and other nice things, and we agree that he should be our king. But here’s the question: Did the king help us because we followed his rules, or before we even knew his rules? Did the people earn or deserve for the King to help them? This is one of many stories of grace from this week’s sermon, found here:
Mystery Man: The King Who Never Was (Haftarah Beresheet) | Rabbi David
2026/10/13
Have you ever noticed that most superheroes have a secret identity? Why is that? Maybe it’s because they are not trying to get credit for their good deeds. You never see Clark Kent tooting his own horn or talking about how great that Superman is. This week’s haftarah portion has the amazing Mystery Man whose courage, humility, and selfless love have much to teach us. Check out our newest sermon from Rabbi David based on the haftarah for Beresheet here:
The Joy of the Torah (Simchat Torah Discussion 5787 ) | By Rabbi David
2026/10/07
Why did God show Moses the Promised Land, knowing that he would never enter it? Why does no one know where Moses is buried? And why does the Torah tell us that Moses' eyes remained undimmed even at 120 years old?
In our Simchat Torah discussion, we explore these mysteries in the final chapter of Deuteronomy and discover what they teach us about faithfulness, surrender, and trusting God with a future beyond our own lives.

Sukkot 5787 | Sermon by Rabbi David
2026/10/06
Water can be a ship breaker, or a home maker. Water can be a flood, or a well of living water. Now hear me out: what if the waters of chaos and the waters of life have the same source? To hear more, check out our sermon for Sukkot from Rabbi David here:
Yom Kippur 5787 | Sermon by Rabbi David
2026/09/25
Yeshua said: “Unless a grain of wheat that falls to the ground dies, it stays just a grain; but if it dies, it produces a big harvest.” Yom Kippur is a day to contemplate our own limits, know the number of our days, and allow God to bring resurrection life through Yeshua. To hear more:
Inner Vows, The Hidden Sin | Sermon By Elder Scot Moor
2026/09/24
Not usually mentioned in the "Al Chet" prayers are the inner vows, which put our own will above God's will for His disciples. Sermon By Elder Scott Moore for our Kol Nidre Services
Search Me- The Grace of Repentance | Sermon By Elder Scott Moore
2026/09/24
Repentance comes from God, and with the coming of the Messiah, He is commanding "all men everywhere to turn (toward God) from their sins."
Rosh Hashanah 5787 | Sermon By Rabbi David
2026/09/17
In 1596, John Davidson called a meeting of 400 pastors in Scotland and began reading to them a list of grievous sins. 399 responded with weeping, confession, and repentance. They had the courage to love, listen, and learn.

I am With You (Matthew 28) | Sermon by Rabbi David
2026/09/10
In 1867, Norwegian missionary Lars Skrefsrud and a colleague went to the Santal people living in the area north of Calcutta, India. Skrefsrud quickly learned the language and began proclaiming the Gospel. These people were far removed from Jewish or Christian influences, and he wondered how long it would take for them to show interest in the Good News. To his surprise, the Santal were immediately receptive to the message. He heard them say, “This proves that Thakur Jayu [the Genuine God] has not forgotten us!”
“How do you know about Thakur Jayu?” asked Skrefsrud.
“Our forefathers knew him long ago.”
“Well, then, why don’t you worship Him instead of the sun or worse yet, demonic powers?”
“That is the bad news.” So one of the sages, Kolean, told the story.

I Have Good News and Bad News | Sermon by Rabbi David
2026/09/04
I have good news and better news. The good news is that the good news is not the downfall of our enemies. The better news is that we will follow a particular Hebrew word through the Scriptures and see how King David teaches us more of the real meaning. We will finish with Paul’s definition of the Good News, where the story of Israel, the story of all nations and all creation, and the death and resurrection of Yeshua the Messiah are all intertwined.

Let's Keep This Going (John 21) | Sermon by Rabbi David
2026/08/25
Mister Rogers was an ordained minister who hosted a children’s program that affected millions through its commitment to kindness, compassion, an awareness of emotion, and humble curiosity. He managed to pass these things on to so many because his show wasn’t about himself.
This week, we follow that thread to Moses and Joshua, and then to Peter’s relationship with Yeshua. What gets passed on is the character of a true shepherd, modeled after the Chief Shepherd.

Follow Your Nose! | Sermon by Rabbi David
2026/08/18
And now, here is a list of things you can do with your nose:
1. You can breathe in with it.
2. You can put it on the ground.
3. You can let it burn with anger.
This week we followed the Hebrew word af (“nose”) through Scripture—from God breathing life into Adam, to anger and humility, all the way to Yeshua breathing the Ruach ha-Kodesh on His disciples, and even the long, long nose of God.
Come follow your nose and see where it goes. Listen here:
Avinu Malkeinu | Sermon by Elder Scott Moore
2026/08/11
While we relate to our heavenly Father as someone who loves us, created us, and desires to bless us, He is also King. It is as a King that he calls us to battle, representing ourselves as witnesses of Him, possibly even to death, as were the martyrs of Revelation 6. If we die with Him, we will live with Him; if we suffer with Him, we will rule with Him. Check out this weeks sermon by elder Scott Moore "Avinu Malkeinu".
How to Recognize the Messiah (Luke 24) | Sermon By Rabbi David
2026/08/06
Three times in Scripture, people stand face-to-face with someone they should have recognized—but they didn't.
What blinded them? And what might be keeping us from recognizing the Messiah today? Join us as we journey from Isaac to Joseph to the road to Emmaus, discovering three common causes of spiritual blindness—and the gracious way Yeshua opens our eyes to recognize Him through the Scriptures, His presence, and the hope of the resurrection. Check out our lates sermon by Rabbi David " How to Recognize the Messiah".
Shalom Bayit: Peace in the Home | Sermon By Elder Scott Moore
2026/07/30
On Shabbat Nachamu, the Sabbath of Comfort following the Fast of Tammuz and Tisha B’Av, we are seeking peace in our homes, a peace that will bring comfort and renewal to our family of families at Tikvat Israel. Marriages can become tumultuous, but peace is worth fighting for. Especially, men are responsible for assuring that there is a successful marriage (to the extent he is able) through love, and women are responsible to respect their husbands.
