Messengers | Brandon Pressnell | God's Plumb Line - Amos
2026/10/18
One thing we all need to be reminded of: God’s judgment is always meant to bring about righteous living on our part. To remind His chosen people of this principle, God gives Amos a vision of a plumb line as a representation of what standard He applies to all practices. Measured against God’s standard, our offerings of worship fall flat when the poor are overlooked, and injustices prevail. The plumb line is not just for our enemies who we believe to be abusive, it is also a reminder for us to take inventory of our own hypocrisies. In our scripture reading this morning, Amos convicts Israel, and reminds us, that our insincerity and inaction to do righteous things will certainly bring God’s judgment.

Messengers | Andrew Itson | Locust Lessons - Joel
2026/10/11
There are lessons in the locusts AND the alarms. In our text, Israel was experiencing the devastating consequences of sin, and God wasn't simply trying to punish them; He was sounding the alarm to wake them up and bring them back to Himself. In Joel 2:12–13 and 28, Joel's message from God's message doesn't stop with repentance; He promises restoration and then makes an incredible promise: “I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh” (Joel 2:28). God doesn't just want to make our circumstances better; He wants to transform our hearts, restore what sin has damaged, and fill us with His presence. The alarm is not God's attempt to push us away; it is His mercy calling us to wake up, return to Him, and become people through whom His Spirit can work.

Messengers | Brandon Pressnell | Broken Brotherhood - Obadiah
2026/10/04
Our scripture reading from Obadiah this morning condemns Edom for celebrating the demise of Israel, a betrayal rooted in the ancient sibling rivalry between Jacob and Esau. Instead of helping their brother nation, Esau’s descendants, not only stood aloof, but actively rejoiced and profited from their ruin. This passage warns us that reveling in an enemy's failure is a dangerous, infectious form of cruelty that ultimately invites the divine judgment of God on ourselves.

3 Big Questions | Andrew Itson | What Is My Purpose - What Difference Can I Make
2026/09/27
Have you ever wondered if your life really matters? We often search for purpose in our accomplishments, future plans, or others' expectations. But what if our purpose isn't about becoming someone important, but about joining something bigger than ourselves? In Exodus 31:1–11, God calls Bezalel and Oholiab—two skilled craftsmen—to use their gifts to build the tabernacle. They weren't kings or prophets, but God equipped them to make a lasting contribution to His work. Their story reminds us that God has given each of us unique abilities and opportunities to serve Him. Today, we will discover that "purpose" isn't about making our own story bigger; it’s about joining God's story and using what He has placed in our hands to make a difference.

3 Big Questions | Brandon Pressnell | Where Do I Belong - Our Connections to Others
2026/09/20
When we belong to Christ, we also belong to each other. That’s what makes our spiritual family so important. We have a connection that transcends all other relationships. But with that connection comes some hard work, efforting together to create an environment where we mutually show love and compassion for one another, where we dig deeper into God’s word to teach each other, where we worship God together, and where our actions reveal to the world that we do indeed belong to God and each other.

3 Big Questions | Brandon Pressnell | Where Do I Belong - Making Room
2026/09/13
When Jesus arrived on the scene, something amazing happened. It was a transitional period where the spiritual God arrived in a physical Being. Hebrews 1:3 emphasizes that the whole essence of God was found in the character and heart of Jesus. Grace and Truth were put on display, an exactness for us to use as a pattern of God’s goodness. But perhaps the greatest blessing in all of this, was the invitation to be a part of His forever family. Notice in our scripture reading this morning that there is room for all who believe and receive.

3 Big Questions | Andrew Itson | Who Am I - Identity Before Assignment
2026/09/06
The world is constantly asking, What do you do? What are you good at? Where are you going? How successful are you? What have you accomplished? But before God asks you to do anything, He wants you to know who you are. Ephesians 1:3–5 reminds us that in Christ, you are blessed, chosen, loved, and adopted. Your identity isn't something you have to earn—it is something God gives. Your grades can change. Your career can change. Your relationships can change. Your circumstances can change. Even your failures can change the way you see yourself. But this doesn't change: You are God's. Before Jesus gave Peter an assignment, He gave him an identity. Before God gave Moses an assignment, He reminded Moses WHO his identity was attached to. Before you ever accomplish anything for God, you need to know that you belong to God.

3 Big Questions | Andrew Itson | Who Am I - Identity Crisis
2026/08/30
As we begin our new series based on the study "3 Big Questions," we will discuss how we live in a world constantly telling us who we should be, and so one of the most important questions we can ask is, “Who am I?” Our identity can be shaped by comparison, accomplishments, failures, relationships, appearance, and social media—but Genesis 1:27 takes us back to where our identity truly begins: “God created mankind in his own image.” Before we achieved anything, failed, or heard anyone’s opinion of us, God gave us our identity by creating us in His image. When we know whose image we bear, we can begin to understand who we really are.

Divine Connections | Brandon Pressnell | Worship Over Want
2026/08/16
God warns us not to covet what belongs to our neighbor. This final commandment looks past our outward actions straight into our hidden desires. It exposes the restless human heart that always wants more. When we chase after other things, whether intentional or not, we put those things before God. This greed disintegrates our trust in the Lord and behaves as a hidden form of idolatry. In essence, the tenth command brings us right back to the very first command and it calls us to love God alone as our ultimate treasure and provision.

Divine Connections | Andrew Itson | The Weight of Our Words
2026/08/09
The Ninth Commandment, "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor" (Exodus 20:16), calls God's people to protect both the truth and others' reputations. In 1 Kings 21, Ahab's selfish desire and Jezebel's use of false witnesses to condemn Naboth reveal how violating this commandment destroys innocent lives and corrupts an entire community. The false witness and mischaracterization of Naboth challenge us to recognize that bearing false witness isn't limited to outright lies; it also includes gossip, half-truths, slander, assumptions, and any words that cause others to believe what may not be true. God calls His people to be guardians of truth who love their neighbors enough to protect their dignity and reputation. Today we will discuss the weight of words and how they impact us and our neighbors.

Divine Connections | Brandon Pressnell | Never Commit Adultery
2026/07/26
Not only does God give the commandment to not commit adultery, but He also helps us understand in multiple ways how harmful this kind of sexual immorality leads to depravity of heart. Here in Proverbs 6, the wisdom of the teacher reminds us of how our selfish lusts can lead us down a path of destruction and dishonor.

Divine Connections | Andrew Itson | God for Life
2026/07/12
The Sixth Commandment, "Do not kill," is far more than a command against murder; it is God's call to value, protect, and cherish every human life because every person bears His image. Today, we will discover that the real issue isn't merely what our hands have done, but what our hearts value. Jesus reveals that anger, hatred, indifference, and even failing to love our neighbor and those without a voice can reflect a spirit that diminishes the worth of those God treasures. In our text today, we will see that right after the flood, the command that God gives is to not shed human blood. This text points back to creation, God's value for life, and forward to the cross. The cross forever declares the value of every human life, because God was willing to give His own Son to rescue us. Today, we will discover how the gospel not only forgives our failure to love life as God does but also transforms us into people who protect and honor life.
