Trapping Radio 153, trapping and catching coyotes and fox, lessons from night vision footage
2026/10/05
This week on Trapping Radio we are looking into lessons on how to trap and catch coyote and fox with foothold traps. These trapping lessons are from watching and studying a lot of night vision footage. Please keep an open mind, because the animals sometimes show us very different things than we have in our personal trapping systems. One the coyotes, we look at trap set blocking, coyote approach, coyote reactions around sets, and how to keep them at set longer. Then we get into how fox act around the set. Some super cool things tonight.
Trapping Radio 152, how to trap coyotes in summer and warm weather, coyote study
2026/09/28
This week on Trapping Radio we are going into coyote trapping. How to trap coyotes in summer, fawning season or warm weather. The coyotes life cycle must be considered depending on the time of the year. In the fall we have more coyotes per square mile to trap, not so in the summer. We have to understand the territory of the coyotes that have moved to a den. All of this info must be accounted for if you are performing predator control, ADC, live market or just trying to trap coyotes that are eating your deer or turkey.
Trapping Radio 151, America is not D.C., portable pockets, suppressor for trapping, making money from Raccoons with lower fur prices
2026/09/21
This week on Trapping Radio we go into how to get into predator control in Texas and other game and bird ranches. Why using a suppressor on a gun is a winner on the trap line if not against the law. Suppressors are used in hunting all over the world for hunting, and most of these places are not gun friendly counties. How to sell castor. This could be dry or green. You have to know who the end user is to get the best prices.
Trapping Radio 150, beaver shooting, trap swivels, trap chain and the small things, plus don’t drink urine from the Republicans or Democrates
2026/09/14
This week on Trapping Radio you need to not listen if you are getting up in arms about the upcoming president election. Before that we cover shooting beaver on ADC jobs. Then we look at spending money on trapping products that you NEED and not for warm fuzzy feelings.
Trapping Radio 149, trapline dog, trapping coyotes to beaver with a dog, the good and the bad
2026/09/07
This week on Trapping Radio we talk about trap line dogs. I have had a great trap line dog that was more than a trapping tool, but a true trapping partner. Dogs can be super cool or a nightmare on a trap line so make sure you understand what you are getting into. Daisy my dog has bee with me in more states trapping than most trappers and we have caught coyotes, bobcats, mink, fox, beaver, raccoon and muskrats together. She went to a better trapping grounds last week and I will miss her. I wish every trapper could experience a dog as good as daisy on their own trap line, it is a magical thing.
Trapping Radio 148, how to catch more fur by understanding the 80/20 rule and design thinking
2026/08/31
Trapping Radio 148, how to catch more fur by understanding the 80/20 rule and design thinking
Trapping Radio 147, How to trap coyotes, bobcats, fox and raccoon fast, rain proof and low energy
2026/08/24
This Week on Trapping Radio we all over the trapping place and back. Bobcat trapping may be happening in Illinois. A look at some cool history from 1830’s with trappers using some technology. Sadly we say good bye to a trapping great, Carrol Black from Blackies Blend lures. Carrol was a hell of a trapper and a better person that I know I will miss. Then we go into a super cool trapping system that should make any trapper stand back and think. It is fast, really fast, weather proof and energy low input but high output. Grab a drink, sit back and lets talk some trapping.
Trapping Radio 146, trapper system to catch and trap fast, Freedom Brand Dog Proof Traps
2026/08/17
Trapping Radio 146, trapper system to catch and trap fast, Freedom Brand Dog Proof Traps
Trapping Radio 145, snaring around deer, body grip trap trigger tip and having social capital
2026/08/10
This week on Trapping Across America we are looking into several snaring and trapping topics. First will look into the real world of snaring coyotes, bobcats and fox around deer and cattle. The trappers has to use his or her head when setting steel snares. There are some ways a trapper can catch the coyotes and bobcats and guide deer out of getting into trouble. Then we will look into a neat trappers tip for body grip trap triggers. If the animal can see the trap triggers, this simple tip will mean you have more fur at the end of the season. Then we will look into the internet, social capital that trappers has to understand to get traction on the internet.
Trapping Radio 144, Live market coyote trapping, coyote co-op, trap clean up at end of season
2026/08/03
This week on Trapping Across America we have a guest host, Chip Davis from Expand-A-Pans. Chip has a very interesting interview talking about live market coyote trapping in Mississippi. Plus he is a member of a coyote co-op, Trappers working together to have a more stable market. How cool is that! Chip also talks about state trapping associations. Then some ways to close up this trapping season by cleaning up your traps. Instead of waiting to the last moment before prime time this fall. Chip does a great job for us this week. I re-broke some ribs that I broke this summer and I don’t think I could project my voice for an hour. Like Chip says, he is my Laura Ingram. Now that’s funny no matter who you are.
Trapping Radio 143, creative thinking and understanding patterns in trapping, then trapping business ideas
2026/07/27
This week on Trapping Radio we get into all kinds of trapping tips and concepts that are in the higher way of looking at trap locations and the way wind misses with lure and bait. We look into having grounded trapping concepts that can be relied on. The we going into a email with a trapper that wants to build a better life with a business and I spend some time explaining what I know about the subject. Trappers normally have more options in their life than they think they do. Having a trapping business should be about freedom, stable secure life and then the money. The interesting thing is that making money is easy once one figures out that we no longer live in the industrial age
Trapping Radio 142, predator control, snare support, raccoon meat, coyote bobcat snaring
2026/07/20
This week on Trapping radio we cover many trapping related topics as normal. I get asked a very interesting question. When did I or think I was ready to go into predator control full time. I go into this neck deep because it is such a important topic to think about if one wants to be a paid predator trapper. Then we ask a question about the NTA and the FTA about helping push forward the idea of working with states to allow us trappers to have high quality meat sales to the ever growing market of the wild food and paleo diets. One is a more important thing they could do to drive interest into trapping, because 10 pounds of organic free range all natural pure beaver meat would be $5-10 a pound. It is such a wasted opportunity for trappers today. Then we get in the weeds with supporting a snare to think of in a way that gets a trapper the highest quality catches possible.
Trapping Radio 141, coyote bobcat snaring, snare cable, 1×19 and 7×7 cable, 1/16, 5/64, 3/32
2026/07/13
This week on Trapping Radio we are looking at coyote and bobcat snaring. How do snares and footholds compare in catches on a line to line comparison. What kind of snare cable is better 1×19 or 7×7 cable. What is the best cable size for coyotes, bobcats, raccoon, fox, beaver and otter. I had problems with my internet last week and the begging of this week. So I could not get the show up loaded. Where I live we only have one company that sells internet service. So they have a monopoly on the service. Another company is fighting to get into our area. Cross your fingers for us, an open market will mean I get better service to upload to my server.
Trapping Radio 140 how trappers can use the fact that deer and fawns are being eaten in large numbers
2026/07/06
This week on Trapping radio we are going into the issue on deer and fawns being eaten by coyotes and bobcats. More importantly I try and show trappers how they can use this for fur trapping and paid predator control. Coyote populations are exploding in several states. Deer numbers are falling and fawn recruitment can be down 80 percent. That means a land owner is off 40 percent on buck populations per year. This is not a one time 40 percent down in buck numbers but increases over the generation of a buck population. We also look into fur prices. Coyotes and fox prices are up and raccoon and otter are down. What this means and how to still make money trapping.
