The Geography Your School Never Taught You | Hamidali Vazhakkad
2026/10/21
Why does Kerala have a mountain range, a midland, rivers and the sea all within an hour’s drive, and why do most of us never notice? In this episode of Uppu Podcast, we sit with Hamidali Vazhakkad in front of a big map of Kerala. He walks us through the land we live on: how the Palakkad Gap was formed, what “churam” really means, whether Wayanad sits on the Deccan Plateau, how the Wayanad tunnel will change the ghat, and why Attappadi gets so little rain. From there the conversation travels to the Himalayas, the Great Trigonometrical Survey, the Nepal glacier-lake disaster and the long history of human travel. If you’ve ever wondered why your geography textbook felt boring, this episode shows you what it was supposed to be.
Hamidali Vazhakkad is a higher secondary history teacher who has become one of Kerala’s most-loved explainers of geography, travel and environment. He has made seven journeys to the Himalayas and grew up beside the Chaliyar, in the years of the Mavoor Gwalior Rayons pollution struggle. That’s where his environmental lens began. Stay till the end for the conversation on development vs environment, what tourism did to Manali and our disposable lifestyle, and his advice on how to be a responsible traveller. It’s a Malayalam podcast for anyone who loves Kerala, travel or simply learning to see the world with open eyes.

Artificial intelligence is moving faster than most people can keep up with. Right after we wrapped up this conversation, OpenAI dropped Astra, a frontier model so advanced that researchers across the globe are already debating whether we’ve officially stepped into the era of AGI.In this episode of uppu, we sat down with Muhammad Sami, founder of an AI research lab in Kerala, to break down what’s actually happening behind the scenes of AI. We unpack how modern models are trained, what the shift from human labor to compute tokens means for our jobs, the ethical gray zones, and where humanity fits into this rapidly unfolding future.production: Muhammed safwan, JulaibeebEdit: Julaibeeb Support us at: https://buymeacoffee.com/uppuWant to join our community?: https://tally.so/r/mKLrGD#podcast #malayalampodcast #ai Join us for another insightful episode where we delve into diverse topics, bridging cultures and ideas. 2026/08/21
In the 1970s, a generation of men boarded wooden lanchi’s into the Arabian Sea, chasing a distant promise across the water to build the foundations of modern Kerala. 78-year-old Manipparamban Abdu from Malappuram was one of them. For nearly three decades, his sweat, sacrifice, and silent longing shaped a future back home, until the tide finally brought him back. In this special release, Uppu Podcast steps away from our standard conversational format to introduce a raw, first person oral storytelling archive. No interviewer. No interruptions. Just one man, his memories, and the journey that redefined a land and its people forever.

The Complete Engagement with the Quran | Surah Al-Maida 83 I Ep 8 I Thadabbur Series
2026/03/13
Surah Al-Maida, verse 83 presents a vivid portrait of believers who encounter divine truth: "When they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they recognize as the truth. They say: 'Our Lord, we believe. So write us down among the witnesses.'" This verse captures the moment believers move beyond passive listening, they hear the Quran, recognize its authenticity through their hearts, and respond with profound emotion. The tears mentioned here are not mere sentimentality but evidence of a soul awakened to divine reality, a acknowledgment that the message has penetrated beyond intellect into the depths of consciousness. The verse encapsulates the complete hierarchy of Quranic engagement: first, hearing (sam'u) the act of listening; second, pondering (tadabbur) recognizing the truth through reflection; third, emotional response (aynahum tasil) tears that signify the heart's submission; and finally, living by it (katabna ma'a ash-shahidin) committing to become witnesses of this truth in action. This progression shows that true Quranic literacy isn't intellectual alone, it demands we hear with ears, reflect with minds, respond with hearts, and ultimately embody the message in our lives. The believer who achieves all four levels becomes a living testimony to the Quran's transformative power.support us at: https://buymeacoffee.com/uppuTeam Uppu:Host: Abul AhlaCo-Hosts: Saeed Hafiz, Safwan#podcast #malayalampodcast #thadabbur Join us for another insightful episode where we delve into diverse topics, bridging cultures and ideas. What The Badr Actually Reminds us I Al-Anfal: 11 I Ep 7 I Thadabbur Series
2026/03/08
At the Battle of Badr, the believers faced an impossible situation. Outnumbered, exhausted, and facing their enemy with resolve. But Allah didn't leave them alone. He sent down drowsiness as a gift, a sign of His protection and a calming of their hearts. While Shaithan tried to scatter their minds with fear, Allah's sleep brought security. This wasn't just rest, it was divine reassurance that they were under His watch. Then came the rain. The believers had no water, and Shaithan whispered: "How can you pray when you're impure?" But Allah responded with rain from the sky. It quenched their thirst, purified them, and miraculously firmed the sandy ground beneath their feet, giving them physical strength and spiritual steadiness. Every blessing had a purpose. Every difficulty had a response. This is how Allah supports those who trust in Him completely.support us at: https://buymeacoffee.com/uppuTeam Uppu:Host: Saeed HafizCo-Hosts: Abul Ahla, Safwan
