I Don't Always Like My Kids. Is That Okay?
2026/11/05
Do you ever not like your kids, and then feel guilty for even thinking it? Tony and Maggie take on two honest parenting questions from listeners: "I don't always like my kids, and I'm afraid to ask God for help because I should already know this," and "How do I raise Christian kids in today's culture when they just want to fit in?"
They talk about the difference between liking your kids and loving them. They explain why the "I don't like my kids right now" feeling is often exhaustion asking for support, not proof that you're failing. And they get into why so many parents feel like they're supposed to have it all figured out (spoiler: nobody does). They also share how to raise kids with faith without trying to shield them from the world: building faith into the car rides and dinner tables you already have, letting your kids see you mess up and ask forgiveness, and making home the place they always know they belong.
Afraid of the End of the World? What Revelation Actually Says
2026/10/22
Afraid of the end of the world? Pastor Maggie [LAST NAME] was. She grew up with so much fear around the book of Revelation that she avoided it for years. In this conversation, she and Pastor Tony Johnson talk honestly about what changed when they finally studied it, and why the end of the world doesn't have to scare you.
Tony and Maggie look back on a full journey through Revelation and share what surprised them most. The mark of the beast is a counterfeit of something God did first: marking his people as his own. The number 666 pointed to a real Roman emperor. The rapture never actually appears in Revelation, and the book pictures God's people standing firm rather than escaping. They also talk about what we're quietly drawn to, why faith should show up in how we live, and the moment in Revelation 21 where God makes his home with his people for good.
When You Can't Stop Trying to Control Everything
2026/10/08
If you can't stop trying to control everything, keeping every plate spinning because it feels like it all depends on you, this conversation is for you. Tony and Maggie get honest about their own need to be in charge, and why letting go of control might be the strongest thing you ever do.
They find the answer somewhere unexpected: Revelation 5. John is told a conquering lion has won, and when he turns around, he sees a slain lamb, still standing. The victory came through what looked like weakness. Tony and Maggie talk about what that means on an ordinary Tuesday: why the Lamb is never anxious, what it looks like to trade control for trust, and why giving yourself for the people you love doesn't mean you stop taking care of yourself.
What Makes a Good Dad? 3 Pastors Get Real
2026/07/02
What actually makes a good dad — and why does nobody seem to have it figured out? In this Father's Day episode of In Between Sundays, three pastors sit down for an honest conversation about Christian fatherhood: the failures, the second chances, and the stuff nobody puts on social media.
Tony Johnson is joined by Ethan Maple and Connor Guerzini to talk about what they've actually learned as dads — not from a stage, but from the kitchen table. They get into why a strong marriage might be the most important thing you do for your kids, what it means to raise kids who love Jesus more than they chase success, why apologizing to your children
is a strength and not a weakness, and how to love your kids equally while treating each one completely differently. It's less a how-to and more a permission slip: you don't have to perform to be a good parent.

We've Been Mom Friends for 8 Years & Across 3 States
2026/05/07
If motherhood feels lonely, you're not making it up and you're not the
only one. In this Mother's Day episode, host Maggie Freeman sits down with
the three women who have been her closest friends for the last eight years:
Debbie, Jenny, and Bethany. They live in three different states. They've
mostly never been in the same room.
This is a real conversation about what it actually looks like to find mom
friends who show up. They talk through what they've learned across every
stage of motherhood (from grandmothering down to elementary school), the
specific ways diversity in age and season has made them better moms, and
the moment Maggie texted the group when the police pulled into her front
yard. They name the two enemies of every mother — isolation and futility —
and offer practical, hard-won advice for any Christian mom who is tired,
overwhelmed, or quietly wondering where her people are.
If you've ever thought "I just need someone who gets it" this one's for
you. Pass it to a friend who needs the same.
Why You Can't Heal Without Confession (James 5:16)
2026/04/23
Why does the Bible tell us to confess our sins to one another and what happens when we stop? In this episode of In Between Sundays, Tony Johnson and Maggie Freeman sit down with Dr Wes Beavis, clinical psychologist, to close out our three-part series on spiritual disciplines with the one most of us avoid: confession.
This is not the confession you grew up picturing. It's not a booth, a priest, or a list of guilts read to a stranger. It's James 5:16 "Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another that you may be healed" and the conversation asks a question most churches quietly duck.
Our crew works through the psychology of shame, why secrets lose their power the moment they're spoken out loud, how to tell a safe person from an unsafe one, and what it takes to build the kind of relationships where real confession can happen. Plus a story from Psalm 32 that will reframe how you read David's whole life, and a lesson from aviation about why one-degree course corrections beat catastrophe recovery every time.

What Worship Really Is (Because It’s More Than Music)
2026/03/26
Is worship just singing on Sunday morning?
In this episode, we talk about what worship really is, why it matters, and how it goes far beyond music. From Romans 12 to John 4 to Revelation 4, this conversation explores worship as surrender, sacrifice, presence, and a life fully offered to God.
We also talk about corporate worship, different worship styles, spiritual pride, authenticity, and what it looks like to worship God in spirit and truth. Whether you feel deeply connected during music or struggle to engage in worship at all, this conversation will help you rethink what it means to glorify God with your whole life.
If you’ve ever wondered why worship feels powerful sometimes, distant other times, or bigger than just a song set, this episode is for you.

Romans 12:1
Revelation 4:6–11

How to Pray (When You’re Busy, Distracted, and Don’t Know What to Say)
2026/03/12
In this episode, Tony and Maggie get brutally honest about what prayer looks like in real life—when your mind won’t slow down, your schedule is packed, your kids are up early, and you’re carrying anxiety, grief, or distraction.
If you’ve ever felt guilty because your prayer life doesn’t match the “perfect quiet time” version you were taught, this conversation will help you breathe again—and take a practical next step.
In this episode, we talk about:
• Why prayer is a discipline (and why that matters)
• Breaking free from the “it has to look like this” prayer box
• How to pray throughout the day (not just one perfect morning block)
• Turning distractions into invitations to pray
• Simple prayers you can pray anytime: Help. Thanks. Wow.
• Why Jesus teaches us to pray with boldness (even “shameless audacity”)
• Why you don’t learn prayer by reading—you learn it by practicing
Bible verses mentioned:
• Psalm 23
• Luke 11
• James 4:8
If prayer feels awkward, scary, or inconsistent—don’t wait until you “feel ready.” Start practicing today.
Can Women Be Pastors? What the Bible Actually Says
2026/02/26
This is one of the most debated questions in the modern church:
Can women be pastors?
In this episode, Tony and Maggie walk through Scripture, from Genesis to the New Testament, exploring what the Bible actually says about women preaching and leadership.
They discuss:
• Galatians 3 and equality in Christ
• The “helper” language in Genesis
• Women leaders and proclaimers throughout Scripture
• The “tension passages” (1 Corinthians 14 and 1 Timothy 2) and how context matters
• Why this is not a salvation issue
• How to disagree without dividing the Church
This conversation isn’t about winning an argument.
It’s about studying Scripture deeply, approaching it humbly, and being willing to align ourselves with what God’s Word actually says—even when it costs us something.
Whether you agree or disagree, our hope is that you’ll open your Bible, study the passages for yourself, and pursue unity in Christ.

They Gave Up Everything to Follow God
2026/02/12
What happens when life unravels, and God invites you to trust Him anyway?
In this raw and emotional testimony, Jordan and Michaela share their journey through addiction, anxiety, foster care, financial uncertainty, and a life-changing step of obedience.
From panic attacks to career transitions, from mental health struggles to miraculous provision—this is the story of what it really means to go all in with Jesus.
Their vulnerability is powerful. Their faith is contagious. And their story might just be the encouragement you didn’t know you needed.
Why You’re Never Satisfied (And What Contentment Actually Is)
2026/01/30
Why do we always feel like we need more?
More money. More stuff. More success. More security.
In this episode, Tony and Maggie talk honestly about contentment—where it breaks down, why comparison and culture fuel discontentment, and how Scripture reframes what real peace actually looks like.
From everyday struggles (like shoes, campers, and comparison) to deeper spiritual insight from Philippians 4 and the writings of C.S. Lewis, this conversation explores why discontentment isn’t just a bad habit—but a powerful distraction.
If you’ve ever thought, “I’ll be content once I get…” this episode is for you.
👉 Watch, reflect, and consider this question:
What would it look like to be at peace with what God has already provided?
Why New Year's Resolutions Almost Always Fail (And What to Do Instead)
2026/01/01
Every January, millions of people make New Year’s resolutions — and most of them quit by mid-January.
So why do we keep doing this?
In this conversation, Tony and Maggie unpack why resolutions often fail and how Scripture invites us into something far better than willpower-driven self-improvement.
They talk about:
Why most resolutions collapse within weeks
The pressure people (especially women) feel to “set goals”
The difference between resolutions and spiritual commitments
Three biblical categories for real change:
1️⃣ Stop harmful things
2️⃣ Start faithful things
3️⃣ Continue fruitful things
Why your why matters more than your goal
The uncomfortable but powerful question: “What would Jesus resolve for you?”
This episode isn’t about becoming a better version of yourself — it’s about becoming the person God is forming you to be.
If you’re tired of starting over every January, this conversation will help you rethink how real transformation actually happens.
Why Christmas Hits Different When you Look Back at the Year
2025/12/25
It’s Christmas — and that means lights, music, memories… and apparently strong opinions about Mary Did You Know.
In this Christmas conversation, Tony and co-host talk about:
• Why Christmas feels so emotionally powerful
• The Mary Did You Know debate (yes, we went there)
• Eggnog, Christmas music, and nostalgic traditions
• Looking back at the year and noticing how God showed up
• Gratitude, growth, and celebrating what God has done
This episode is honest, funny, reflective, and deeply human — a reminder that Christmas isn’t just about what happened then, but about recognizing what God is still doing now.
If you’re ending the year tired, grateful, reflective, or somewhere in between, this conversation is for you.
🎄 Merry Christmas.
