Life on the Ballot
2026/10/19
With Election Day just two weeks away, we must be fully cognizant that life vs death, pro-life vs. pro-abortion is on the ballot. Those we elect to office and the ideals they hold will determine what type of policies advance, one to protect life, another to take life. Furthermore, a number of states have a referendum question on the ballot, a constitutional amendment which some states are seeking to enshrine abortion in their state constitution. Jim quoted from an article from LifeNews.com dated October 14, 2026. The article states, "House Democrats' health care working group handed House Democrat Leader Hakeem Jeffries an 84-page playbook to run if they seize control in November. It maps out what they plan to do in their first 100 hours if they take back control of Congress. At the top of their list? Abortion. In their own words, they want to 'Reestablish a federal right to abortion care and end restrictions that prevent people covered through federal health programs from receiving abortion coverage.' In other words, abortion-on-demand nationwide, and you pay for it." In other words, some will literally be voting whether or not to add life or abortion to their state constitution. On this edition of Crosstalk you also hear about the recent report from the FDA that they will not complete their abortion pill safety review until March of 2027.
Afraid of The People
2026/10/18
The religious health of the nation of Israel was in bad shape during the life of Christ on the earth. He taught the truth. He exposed the lies of the false teachers. However, the people loved the false teachers more than God. Now the false teachers were at the place where they wanted to kill Jesus. However, they feared the people. They needed to figure out how to kill Jesus and still keep the people on their side.
Choose Godly Leaders
2026/10/18
This sermon examines the qualifications for church leadership outlined in Titus 1, emphasizing that the selection of elders is the primary method for preserving order in a congregation. The central message argues that a leader's character is revealed through three distinct areas: the management of the home, the discipline of personal life, and the fidelity of teaching. The preacher highlights that while perfection is unattainable, a consistent trajectory toward godliness is required, specifically in areas such as marital faithfulness, self-control, and a rejection of greed or arrogance. The tone is instructional and pastoral, urging the congregation to recognize that these standards are not merely for pastors but represent the baseline for all Christian discipleship. The sermon concludes with a call for the church to actively identify, train, and support men who exhibit these traits, ensuring the spiritual health and continuity of the local body.

The Church at Pentecost
2026/10/14
The sermon argues that the New Testament church was formally established on the day of Pentecost, marking the baptism of the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ. It emphasizes that the local assembly is the primary institution for God's work on earth, serving as the pillar of truth and the place where believers are provoked to love and good works. The speaker urges the congregation to view the church not as a casual gathering but as a vital source of spiritual nourishment, comparing regular attendance to daily sustenance. Faithfulness to the local church is presented as essential for solidifying assurance of salvation and maintaining spiritual health. The message concludes with a call to enter God's house with readiness to hear and a heart of thanksgiving, prioritizing the glory of God over human activity.

DC Gospel Outreach Report & Future Vision
2026/10/12
Every second that passes, every hour that elapses, every flip of the calendar puts us closer to the time of the Lord's return or to our appointment with death. According to the CDC, one death occurs in the United States every 10 seconds. By the time you finish listening to this 54-minute program, 324 people will have been ushered into eternity. Some recognize their present health condition reveals there is not much time left. For others, death comes by total surprise due to an auto collision, a heart attack, an aneurism, a freak accident or just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. We just don't know when our appointment with death will occur. This is what compels believers in Christ to share the Gospel. Such is the case for our guest on this edition of Crosstalk who became burdened for our nation's capital, Washington D.C. This past January we first introduced you to the DC Gospel Outreach, an organized plan to blanket our nation's capital this summer with the Gospel as tourists flooded into the city, marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. We asked you to pray…we asked you to go…we asked you to consider a gift and several responded in a variety of ways. Now all these months later we invited our guest back and he provided listeners with a very encouraging report on what happened with the DC Gospel Outreach. That guest is Dr. Alton Beal, the executive director of DC Gospel Outreach. He's also an evangelist and president of Ambassador Baptist College which trains men and women for full-time Christian service. More Information DC Gospel Outreach 104 – 1 N. Are You Hungry?
2026/10/11
This sermon explores the spiritual concept of hunger, arguing that true spiritual appetite stems from health rather than a lack of resources. It warns against the danger of indifference and a consumer mindset that can dull the soul's sensitivity to God's glory, even amidst an abundance of gospel truth. The message identifies healthy hunger as being expressive, centered on Jesus Christ, and deeply concerned with the radiance of God's attributes. Drawing on examples from Scripture, it contrasts the sated soul that tramples sweetness with the famished soul that finds even bitter things sweet. The sermon concludes with an urgent invitation for believers to reject spiritual numbness and actively pursue the living water that flows from Christ.
THE DANGER OF MAKING DECISIONS WITHOUT GOD!
2026/10/11
THE DANGER OF MAKING DECISIONS WITHOUT GOD! Proverbs 3:5–6 KJV[The greatest mistakes of our lives often begin when we trust our own understanding instead of seeking the wisdom and direction of Almighty God.]You can be sincere and still be wrong. You can be intelligent and still be deceived. You can have a plan that makes perfect sense to you and still be headed in the wrong direction! Are you following God's direction or trusting your own understanding? In Proverbs 3:5–6, discover how pride can lead us away from God's wisdom, why genuine trust requires humble obedience, and how the Lord directs those who acknowledge Him. Drawing lessons from Joshua's mistake with the Gibeonites and Jesus washing His disciples' feet, this message challenges believers to surrender their plans, seek God's counsel, and follow His Word. The greatest obstacle to following God's direction is often our unwillingness to surrender our own. Before God can direct our steps, we must be willing to humble our hearts.
The Church That Wanted to be Famous
2026/10/11
This sermon examines the Corinthian church's self-deception, where believers claimed spiritual maturity and abundance while remaining in need of grace. Paul uses biting irony to expose their pride, contrasting their perceived status with the apostles' suffering and humility. The message challenges the modern tendency to prioritize appearances and comfort over authentic faithfulness, arguing that true spiritual health is found in acknowledging weakness rather than masking it. It emphasizes that biblical love involves loving correction and confrontation of sin, rather than mere acceptance or silence. Ultimately, the sermon calls for a life shaped by Christ's example, where doctrine produces obedience and believers rely daily on divine grace.
To a Cold Church
2026/10/11
Why was Ephesus a cold church? Not because they didn't do enough, were too theological, or because they didn't suffer enough, but because it was a heartless church! Love is the heart of the Christian life. 1. The love of God is given to us. 2. The love for God is returned from us. 3. This is a mutually-reinforcing relationship powers devotion from the heart. How is your heart health?

Expectation or Hope
2026/10/07
Hope and expectations are not the same. Expectations are often rooted in self-effort and merit, leading to disappointment and shame. Hope rests in God and in what He has promised, so it does not depend on everything going according to our plans. Paul could rejoice even in prison because his hope was not tied to comfort, success, or being treated fairly, but to Christ being magnified and the gospel going forward. Life, people, health, family, and circumstances will often disappoint our expectations, but they cannot destroy the hope God gives. The answer is to stop building the future around what we expect life to give us and instead trust God with whatever comes. True hope springs from faith and love rather than worldly outcomes. We should shift our focus from controlling future events to trusting in God's eternal plan, finding peace in the certainty of His character rather than the uncertainty of life's results.
