Watch Pandit Harish Tiwari exclusive interview part 01. Pandit Harish Tiwari is an eminent Hindustani Classical Singer of Kirana Gharana. Kirana gharana is one of the Indian classical khyal gharanas, and is concerned foremost with perfect intonation of notes (swara). The central concern of the Kirana style is swara, or individual notes, in particular precise tuning and expression of notes. In the Kirana Gayaki (singing style), the individual notes (swaras) of the raga are not just random points in the scale, but independent realms of music capable of horizontal expansion. Emotional pukars in the higher octaves  form a part of the musical experience. Another unique feature of this gharana is the intricate and ornate use of the sargam taan (weaving patterns with the notations themselves) introduced by Abdul Karim Khan under influence from the Carnatic classical style. Dr. Deepti Omchery Bhalla is a versatile artist who is an exponent of Mohiniyattam and Carnatic Music vocals. Renowned as Singer, Dancer, Teacher, Researcher, and Scholar, she is currently working as a Senior Professor of Carnatic Music at the University of Delhi. Having learned Kathakali for 12 years under veteran gurus like late Punnathur Madhava Panikkar, late Guru Gopinath, late Sadanam Nanda Kumar, Nelliyodu Vasudevan Nampoothiri and Sadanam Balakrishnan, Deepti went on to learn Mohiniyattam from the legendry late Kalamandalam Kalyanikutty Amma. A Gold Medalist from the University of Delhi in Carnatic Music, she also has the distinction of topping the University in M.Phil. Deepti over the last two decades, along with the able support of her mother, Dr. Leela Omchery, an eminent musicologist and Padmasri Awardee has been doing intense research on the Traditional music of Kerala.
