Baptism in the Holy Spirit
2026/11/02
Series: Holy Spirit
Sermon Title: Baptism in the Holy Spirit
Main Scripture: Acts 1:5 "John baptized with water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
Synopsis: This message explores three aspects of the Holy Spirit’s work in the life of a believer: His indwelling, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and subsequent refillings. While Christians broadly agree that every believer receives the indwelling Holy Spirit, faithful believers hold differing views on the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Today, we’ll examine what Scripture teaches about each of these experiences and seek to understand how we can faithfully respond to the Spirit’s work in our lives.

Who & What
2026/10/27
Series: Holy Spirit
Sermon Title: Who & What
Main Scripture: John 14:25-26 "I am telling you these things now while I am still with you. 26 But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you."
Synopsis: Who is the Holy Spirit? What does He do? We believe that the Holy Spirit is completely God and indwells within those who put their faith in Jesus. We believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit empowers believers to live out their faith and be a powerful witness to the world.

Homecoming - Part 3
2026/10/19
Series: Homecoming
Sermon Title: Homecoming - Part 3
Main Scripture: Jeremiah 31:21 "Set up road signs; put up guideposts. Mark well the path by which you came."
Synopsis: As a church, we continue to pray and believe that the Lord will restore estranged relationships and renew the faith of loved ones who have wandered. But knowing how to navigate these situations can be difficult. While every situation is unique, Scripture gives us clear direction on how we can faithfully honor the Lord and pursue restoration.

2026/10/12
Series: Homecoming
Sermon Title: Homecoming - Part 2
Main Scripture: Jeremiah 31:17 "So there is hope for your descendants,” declares the Lord. “Your children will return to their own land."
Synopsis: What do we do when someone we love seems far from God and far from home? This week, we look at Rachel’s weeping, the pain of estrangement, and the hope God gives us in the middle of heartbreaking circumstances. Jesus is still seeking and saving the lost, and as long as there is breath, there is hope for a homecoming.

The Spirit-Led Life
2026/09/28
Series: Galatians 5
Sermon Title: The Spirit-Led Life
Main Scripture: Galatians 5:5 “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit"
Synopsis: As we close out our series studying Galatians 5, we’re reminded that Paul warns believers of two forms of slavery that pretend to give freedom: legalism, which tries to earn God’s favor, and licentiousness, which uses grace as an excuse to indulge the desires of the flesh. The way of avoiding these is not a better checklist, or our discipline, but a life led by the Holy Spirit. It is by His leading in our life that we can rest in the finish work of Jesus, learn to not gratify the desires of our flesh, and use the freedom Christ has given us to serve others in love.

Fruit of the Spirit: Self-Control
2026/09/21
Series: Galatians 5Fruit of the Spirit: Self-ControlMain Scripture: Galatians 5:22-23a “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control"Synopsis: “Self-Control” can often sound a lot like “I just need to be better”, but like the rest of the fruit of the Spirit, it doesn’t start with us. In this message, we examine where self-control comes from, how we can practically partner with the Spirit’s work in our life, and how the path forward begins not with trying harder, but with coming to Christ in our weakness.September 20, 2026 • Tucker Parman• • • • • • • •.• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Join us for service in person and online every Sunday at 10am (MST) at the City Life Community Center in Missoula, MT. Fruit of the Spirit: Gentleness
2026/09/14
Sermon Title: GentlenessMain Scripture: Galatians 5:22–23 (ESV)“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”Synopsis: This week we continue our series through the fruit of the Spirit by looking at gentleness. Biblical gentleness is not weakness or passivity; it is strength that doesn’t need to be harsh. Through the example of Moses in Numbers 12, the character of Jesus in Matthew 11, and Paul’s call to restore others gently in Galatians 6, we’ll see how gentleness shapes the way we respond to criticism, carry truth, and treat people when they fail. Ultimately, we’ll look to Jesus, who perfectly shows us what it means to use strength for restoration rather than destruction.September 13, 2026 • Matt Pye• • • • • • • •.• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Join us for service in person and online every Sunday at 10am (MST) at the City Life Community Center in Missoula, MT. Fruit of the Spirit: Faithfulness
2026/08/31
Series: Galatians 5
Main Scripture: Galatians 5:22-23a “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control"
Synopsis: Faithfulness rarely looks impressive in the moment. It’s often the unglamorous, accumulated work of showing up again and again, long after it stops feeling significant. In this message we look at the Parable of the Talents to see that faithfulness takes time, refuses to compare itself to others, and is ultimately required of everyone entrusted with something by God. And it all flows from the God who remains faithful to us even when we are faithless.

Fruit of the Spirit: Goodness
2026/08/25
Series: Galatians 5
Main Scripture: Galatians 5:22-23a “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control"
Synopsis: This week we looked at goodness as a fruit of the Spirit. Biblical goodness begins with the character of God. God is good, and what He does is good. Through the story of the Good Samaritan, we saw that goodness doesn’t simply notice a need or feel compassion; it seeks what is truly good and moves toward people in practical, sometimes costly ways. Because God has moved toward us in Jesus and given us His Spirit, we can look for opportunities even interruptions to actively do good and “go and do likewise.

Series: Galatians 5
Main Scripture: Galatians 5:22-23a “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control"
Synopsis: God’s nature and self description is that He is kind! His kindness is shown most fully through Jesus going to the cross.God’s kindness doesn’t ignore sin—it leads us toward repentance, forgiveness, and freedom. When we receive His kindness, His kindness finds us, changes us, and flows through us to others.

Fruit of the Spirit: Patience
2026/08/10
Series: Galatians 5
Main Scripture: Galatians 5:22-23a “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control"
Synopsis: We live in a world engineered to make us impatient and it isn't just changing how long we'll wait for a package, it's changing how we treat the people around us. In this message we look at patience not as gritting your teeth and waiting, but as the "long fuse" of a God who is slow to anger and how the root of most of our impatience is simply a forgetful heart. When we lose sight of how much we've been forgiven, we lose our ability to bear with one another.

Fruit of the Spirit: Peace
2026/08/03
Series: Galatians 5
Sermon Title: The Source of Peace
Main Scripture: Galatians 5:22-23a “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control"
Synopsis: We tend to think peace comes when everything finally settles down — when circumstances are going our way, when there's no conflict or tension in our relationships, when life is generally on our side. But true, biblical peace is different. In this message we trace how peace with God is the foundation for all peace, and examine two arenas where peace naturally is produced: peace with others, and the peace of God that guards our hearts even when nothing around us is calm.

Synopsis: Joy is a deep, settled delight in God that remains regardless of circumstances because it is produced by the Holy Spirit and rooted in who God is. In this message, we see what biblical joy is all about and how it is a superpower of the Holy Spirit given to the Church.

Fruit of the Spirit: Love
2026/07/20
Series: Galatians 5
Main Scripture: Galatians 5:22-23a “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control"
Synopsis: Love is the first and defining fruit of the Spirit, but according to Jesus, knowing that is only half the battle. Drawing from the parable of the Good Samaritan, we explore what biblical love actually looks like in practice and see that true, biblical love is actionable, impartial, and costly.
