This week on the podcast, we add another AKI wrestling game to the Endless List of Video Games: It's Virtual Pro Wrestling 2. This game sits at an interesting point in the development of the AKI N64 wrestlings games. This is directly between Wrestlemania 2000 and WWF No Mercy. Only released in Japan, it has the All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) license but cleverly features reskins of wrestlers from a wide variety of pro wrestling and MMA promotions including NJPW, FMW, Pride and so much more. Hironobu Sakaguchi, the man who made Final Fantasy, decided he wanted to create a CGI studio and make a final fantasy movie. In the early 2000s, when Final Fantasy VII was one of the best games of the last decade and the JPRG franchise was becoming a massive cultural hit they decided to make a "Final Fantasy" movie with zero Final Fantasy references! This week we play a much maligned NES game in Top Gun in anticipation of the new arrival of the new movie in the franchise, Top Gun: Maverick. You play as a fighter pilot who could or could not be Maverick. Your mission is to go on four missions with the ultimate goal of destroying the enemy's space shuttle(?). There was much internal debate as to whether or not this is a video game and yes we deemed it to be both using Video and a Game thus it is a video game. This week on the podcast, we're adding not only an action-adventure game but also a shoot'em up (or shmup if you will) all in one handy-dandy package: it's The Guardian Legend. This game developed by Compile crossed two genre's in one. It's kinda like Zelda + Blaster Master + Zanac but way more generic than all of those! This game features a plethora of movement options and nine full worlds to explore. It also features some of the strictest standards for collectibles in any platformer! This week on the podcast, we're adding another movie from the 2000s and Timothy Olyphant's summer in Bulgaria: It's Hitman! The movie based on the franchise of the same name is about a dude named Agent 47. Agent 47 is a bald guy who's been trained from birth to be a Hitman. He gets involved in a conspiracy with the Russian government. It's a whole thing. The actual plot of this movie is confusing as f**k and involves the assassination of the Russian leader's body double(?), Desmond from Lost, the Organization(who are they?) and a subplot with a Russian prostitute that literally makes no sense. This week on the podcast, we're adding the Presidential Election simulator from 1992: Power Politics! This game pitted you against computer or human foes as you a run campaign for the President of the United States.
